Low tide around 4pm, might be worth an afternoon session. Would be good to catch up with everyone as well.
This time I'll stay well clear of that #$%^& bank ![]()
I'm so hanging to get the flow really well wound up... I have it on good authority that a similar model has 37 knots kicking around inside. I bet you're just as keen to see what your new speed "needle" can do as well Gestalt!
yeah, any board will go fast in 40 knots of wind with the ight person onboard.
mate... it is the 75cm board that we're comparing.
and don't forget. you must have a ride of it.....
the "needle" version is having some mods done. but if you like you can use my early 90's needle.
No excuse i've peaked 35 on the even wider hypersonic. I'm toying with the idea of identical flattish conditions it's approx 1 knot lost PEAK per 10cm width for decent slalom boards, with 60 wide boards peaking at around 40. Over distance quite a bit more is lost unless it's gusty.
Hey mkseven,
What would your ideal sail size/fin size/wind strength be?
Is there a big difference in top speed between being maxed in 25 knots vs 35 knots, if it's flat?
Neb thats just a huge generalisation about potential concerning width excuses and what guys have done. Fastest 59 boards (exo/carbon art) are sitting around 40-41knot mark, fastest hyper (77 wide) is at 38knots, fastest formula sits at 34ish?
Ideal for me 6.0 sail, 52 x 235 x 85L board, 28cm fin. Thats what I think i'd see 40 on in real world conditions. Wind strength nothing outrageous maybe 25-30 knots.
good question nebs.
The few times ive gone down to Sandy Point Ive gone faster on my 6.0 then my smaller sails. I think its more to do with being compthy with the gear. 6.0 in 25-30 would be my ideal conditions.

Looks like Sunday will be pretty light wind, I'll head to Golden Beach with the 8.0.and see what happens.
hi fitz.
i'll be on the water sunday, if it is light i'll be on the formula kit.
hope to get some good times and if not some good distances......
Gawd, what's up with the forecast at the moment? I'm thinking of moving to green island, Troppo and Firie sure are blessed...
I've noticed this before, the two day forecast isn't as accurate as the four day forecast. At least that's the theory I'm running with at the moment... blind optimism at its best ![]()
Anyway what range of wind directions does VP work in? Is dead south or even a bit west OK?
By my crazy reasoning it would make the run a starboard tack rather than port, but I've been known to be wrong before.
Hey Maximus , That Avatar we'll have to get you a good shot and replace ummmm........Ian Fox maybe? What's he on Hyper ???![]()
Hi Nebs yer vp should work in a sw-se.
SSW would be the ideal direction there.
If the direction is right Il be there in the arvo.

Yeh nebs, Green is still blowing, and Troppo's going over Sat. Tides should be good also ![]()
But I'm still crook as a dog, so no points for our team again ![]()
Forecast has just bumped up again... might be enough wind to plane.
Anyone else thinking of VP? Gestalt?
hi nebbian,
VP is awesome in a southerly. i reckon it's the best place around.
also works in an easterly. not as good as wello but cross shore launch etc.
hi nebs,
well done cracking it again.
hey, i like the photo.
awesome shot. would look good on the wanderers site too!!!!! any chance?
p.s. guys i think on friday i amy not be feeling the best. will anyone have the same condition?
