Winds picking up, just spoke to Pierre 15knots a wello.
Mal Wright was a Speed sailer in the 80s & 90s and held the unofficial World Record back then
. Then he had a mind lapse and went to kiting(sorry Mal
) and now has come back to windsurfing
.
did anyone else get out other than MK and I.
hit the water around 11.30 dredged until 2pm. wind was so light i only sailed 8km in 2.5 hrs.
at one point i didn't think i was getting back in as it went dead calm. wind was changing direction constantly from W to SW to NW.
really tested out the wind skills. had to tack whenever wind changed to improve the lay back to the beach and work the lifters. (all not planing)
never again will i go to VP when the wind is W... ![]()
still planed 3 or 4 times. got the fix at least. you guys are missing out not using formula kit.![]()

Not even the formula kit would have helped much today, i may have had one extra hour of sailing if i was on formula- it really just died. Mike and I had pretty good sail, even then it lengthy periods of non planing. Water was amazing- crystal clear. Planing in towards king island over the sandy bottom had hints of paradise... except for the cold and wetsuits etc etc
There may be a slight problem as its my wedding anniversary, I have mentioned a meal at Caloundra and a walk on the beach might be nice. How do I tow the windsurf trailer down without raising any suspicions?

Enjoy the wind guys, I'll be doing the family thing all weekend... ![]()
Looks like the stars have lined up for most of the team to get out and post some fast times this weekend. I'm hoping to see some nice big bold numbers when I log in on Sunday night!
btw well done MK for getting out today.
No I haven't, think positive windy things, I'm going to hit GB on Sat 6.6 koncept and the yellow rocket.
Wind pending I'm going to hit VP bank early for the low tide, then probably Manly later depending upon wind angle. Manly is quick/flat when there is just enough water to sail across the bank & obviously good b&j conditions at high tide.
Hopefully the wind comes through currently 15-35 ssw at Byron.
at sheartwater t was going from about 10 to 18 for alot of the day, then it kicked in nicely at about 4pm and had a great hours sail
