it wasn't that crappy.

just depends on gear at the end of the day. i missed the text from nebbian telling me to bring the formula kit.

other than that i took the NXS Viper out for it's maiden voyage. really to little wind for the board but figured why not.
i dredged for a bit and found it difficult at only 220cm long.

then, i got wind.

when planing it was heaps of fun. i am impressed. but i need a run on it in 15-20. early signs are good though.

i lent it to notwal. he likes it muchly too.

my new board. the bottom shape gets some funny looks but it works a treat.

i struggled early on with the really short length and no rocker. in dredging mode it tended to want to drop the nose all the time. i had to adjust my body position a little to overcome that.

then a few good nice gusts came through and i pumped onto the plane. felt great when planing. tracked superbly and went through the lulls really well.

board is 120lt approx. wind was 8-12 knots. i am 96kg. so i can uphaul it etc. i was on a 7.5m sail. planed in 10 knots i guess.

notwal took it for a spin. he is much lighter. got planing and blasted back and forth for a while.

Hey Gestalt,

Good to hear you're happy with your new board, it certainly looked the goods! I'm bummed that the big southerly didn't come through as forecast, but hey you win some you lose some. Good to see some others out for team SEQ, note that I changed my 1 hour value because I can guarantee I did more than 1.8 km in one hour, and RealSpeed gives different numbers depending on whether you select "Trackpoints" or "Doppler".

Pity Golden Beach didn't have more wind, it would have been nice to have some bigger numbers but still it beats flying a desk.

Hey gestalt, I think you're being a bit hard on yourself... that total distance is a bit low don't you think?
Look at your last trackpoint and it will show your accumulated distance in metres.

Hey Gesty, the gps challenge is for wind surfing, not wind submarining, whats long and hard and full of seamen. At last someone who is slower than me.Just think when we finally get some wind maybe we can hit over 30 kts. I reckon we should offer Saltys new Pryde RS to Huey for a sacrifice.See you soon mate, keep on smiling

RealSpeed appears to have a bug in the 1hr calculations, when using doppler (V 1.907).

That's funny Mathew,

for me it was the trackpoints method that gave me problems. Doppler gave a much more realistic result. I think it might be something to do with being too strict when a spike occurs, but I don't know for sure.

Hi Nebs, could you send me the file and a screen-grab (please highlight the row(s) in error). I' have been submitting a few bug reports - so if there is something unusual, I'd like to know about it.
