Lost count on schools already
There must be hundreds of cases in the community

This border is a farce. Just a political tool for Mao Clown and his fanboys

So you would have felt better if it was all aged care centres and all schools by now?

Hundreds of cases and you want thousands? Tens of thousands?

Surely you realise that tens of thousands is inevitable. ?? Or do you think this omicron spread can be managed?

Yes to your first suggestion. No to the second 'question'.

Do you have a point about when the border should be opened?

has anyone noticed the supermarket shelves a looking a little bare.
I wonder if the bed wetter in chief will maintain his popularity when the shelves run completely bare.
Sure, there's a number of contributing factors but folks with empty bellies might notice the one at the top.

What can you do about extreme weather events cutting supply chains? It would happen if the borders were open anyway.

Pretending its the result of closing the borders to people is just silly. Freight can get in no problem, unless there are roads or lines flooded.

Where I live there are few people with empty bellies, just big ones, and their only problem would be that they would have to substitute a different brand for their favorite. If beer ran out on the other hand, there would be a problem...

A lot of the CUB and Lion Nathan beer is close to runnning out, in kegs at least, not sure about cartons.

Our Lion Nathan rp was telling us the other day that beer will by low on the priorties list when trains do re-start.

I figured this was obvious in my questions. It will be very interesting to see how this unfolds in WA. Over the next six months that's for sure. To be honest though, it's almost a damned if you open, damned if you don't sort of situation for the WA government. I'd hate to be the one making these decisions.

A observation from my time out West and something to consider for the uninitiated, WA also means Wait A while.

It is only by living there at length can one have an understanding of this daily fact and way of life. It is strangely imposed, rejected and accepted all simultaneously. Waiting a while is a by-product of life in some of the most remote, wonderfully untouched places and being a great distance from the rest of Australia's population centers, if not the rest of the world. Apply this social/geographic anomaly to the boarder situation and although I agree it's frustrating, things make a little more sense as part of an underlying cultural rationality to wait a while.

The boarder will open, and like many aspects of WA life, just not at a pace that the outside world demands.

Not only have they redefined the definition of the word vaccine, they've redefined what a crowd of 6,000-10,000 looks like.

No, it wasn't obvious, and I am not a fan of people implying things and not actually standing behind what they think. I personally may be a bit outspoken on here, but I prefer it to not voicing any opinion. Even if you completely disagree with me, its good to hear an alternate opinion.

So, you think in 6 months? Yeah, I would agree with that. I suspect that they will announce a date in April. Soonish, but far enough away that they can get more data on how WA has responded and by then maybe the hospitals are handling huge numbers anyway?

Just out of interest, how have they redefined the word vaccine?

To preempt where you are probably going to go with this, a vaccine is a vaccine. It stimulates an immune response. Just because it is not on target with the current strain does not prevent it from actually being a vaccine. Its like taking a tetanus vaccine when you have yellow-fever and then saying the tetanus shot was not a vaccine.

When we get the vaccine targetted for Omicron, is it then a vaccine?

Yeah it would be funny if it was just the media but when you have polies and their private army saying this crap it's just an outrage.

By the time we get an Omicron targeted vaccine we'll be onto the next variant. Keep complying to all this nonsense by getting endless jabs and you'll increase your chances of an adverse reaction.

I have lost track of who I am replying to or are you all in 'the collective'?

Probably either the same person or getting the same feeds from whoever.

Whether they have changed their definition or not, vaccines have never been black and white about preventing infection, i.e. immunity.

For some of you that know how to use a computer and the internet for more than just forwarding memes, you could have googled this:

www.miamiherald.com/news/coronavirus/article254111268.html

or this

www.iflscience.com/health-and-medicine/fact-check-why-did-the-cdc-change-its-definition-of-vaccination/

or even this

www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2021/11/30/fact-check-merriam-webster-changed-vaccine-definition-accuracy/6354415001/

I know many of you "want to believe" but sometimes there really are just simple explanations for things.... but in this case you would know this if you actually understood how vaccines worked. Right?

I remember not so long ago relaying my 'adverse reaction' to a tetanus vaccine. The reaction I got to a tetanus booster was inline with what some people worry about with the covid vaccines and I wouldn't be surprised if some thought I was talking about a covid vaccine.

The pandemic we had in 1918 killed millions. This time it would be better to avoid that I think.

If we are lucky, Omicron is relatively mild and the problem goes away. If we are unlucky, we get a more agressive variant. With so many people infected, it could go either, or both, ways.

there's barely anything new in sailing, kiting or surfing or sup outside of marketing rubbish to maintain any real interest in this place, all the good personalities have left long ago. in real life formulanova would be the most boring, unimaginative person you could possibly have the misfortune of having to sit through a dinner with and lotofwind is exactly that, just an old fart.
f

Oh dear... someone that has to have a toke to make life interesting is commenting on whether other people would be interesting in real life. I think that tells me something straight away.

If that doesn't work, take some mushrooms and feel like the whole world is a conspiracy.

In my experience, people tend to be consistently the same in their life, so I can imagine that instead of telling interesting stories at dinner which you probably imagine you are, you would be sitting there expecting everyone else to and then telling them they are wrong and its all a setup OR telling them that they are boring and you need to take something to make 'them' interesting.

I can imagine it now. "Interesting story #1" : 'It's a conspiracy guys, trust me', followed by "interesting story #2" : 'It is a conspiracy guys, you just don't understand, uh huh, yeah'.

After returning again today to the hospital for a X-ray it appears Covid is contained in the hospital for the 90% of the people that have underlying health issues. Everyone else in town that are fit and happen to catch the Covid cold remains at home until there sniffle and cough has gone.

You're right Covid can do weird things to all people regardless of health status however according to the Australia's health authorities 92% of all Covid related deaths in Australia were with people who had on average 3 underlying health issues so even though a perfectly healthy person can get sick from Covid, the fatality rate is heavily skewed to people with comorbidities.

That was never a conspiracy maaaaate.

From day 1 a covid death was defined as dying within 28 days of being diagnosed with covid or a post mortem showing covid antibodies AND there was no traumatic cause of death (e.g. car crash, fall from helicopter at 3,000 feet etc.).

This was the official definition, published if you go looking hard enough. Always has been. No conspiracy. Death certificate might list 10 conditions including heart failure and dementia. But if the person had a positive covid test 27 days earlier, they were logged as a covid death.

Several people spent quite a few posts on here (and elsewhere) pointing out that reported deaths "from' covid are actually deaths 'with' covid.

But not many wanted to listen.

The deaths "from" covid numbers are actually completely unknown but from what I have learnt from Seabreeze.com.au probably about 3. Or maybe 2 if rounded to the nearest 10.

There was even that newspaper not so long ago that published a public apology for reporting "from" instead of "with" and for not calling it out when it happened. They admitted it was a failure of a journalists responsibilities to simply repeat the numbers being presented.

The only conspiracy is the acceptance of what the media is telling people. Not a government preemptively lying and being caught out.

Not bs.
my mate and his family vaccinated / unvaccinated all caught it they all had the symptoms and dealt with them accordingly. Mate was actually more sick after receiving the vaccination so he could travel to WA for Christmas which obviously was canceled ! We are lucky all the original strains including Delta have fizzled out. Most of the world is getting back to life yet we are still living in fear of the watered down version of Covid. If anything living on a island has been a benefit to us ozzies!

But is that any different to say flu ?

Some fat unfit unhealthy people never get the flu.

Yet some super healthy clean living people get knocked out by it every year.

...Or say cancer.

Does cancer only progressively affect people relative to their pre-condition healthiness ?

Would you regard Keith Richards or Ozzy Osbourne more healthy than Lance Armstrong or Martina Navratilova ?

Not sure you can call covid unique in it affecting people differently. That's just life.

Bahaha you went from a whole hospital to one family...what a massive change from your outrageous statements from before

Yes we are lucky we live on a island ,we are unlucky our government spent billions on handing out money instead of providing decent quarantine facilities which would have cost a fraction of that money that was blown ...

.that's when all these kooks protesting right now should have started fighting for a cause that had some logic and merit to it ...but nah we will wave Trump flags ffs

Definitely lucky the strain has weakened, but as the new HIV strain has proven recently, nothing is guaranteed

We/i can only hope it all fizzles out to nothing more than a common cold
