something along the lines of making up a rather long meeting with a client at Botany ![]()
I just hope my 5.0m sail will be small enough on the day
Guys, maybe, just maybe, we might get some westerlies this Saturday.
Anybody up for a Foreshore Dr look?
I know its bloody cold and Im the worst wuss when it comes to being cold but Im desperate. Anybody with any sense wont go anywhere neasr the Tin Shed until September.
After all you guys got crook sailing at Botany the other week, has the water cleared up any??
Anyway let us all know your opinions.
Later.
I'm gonna try and steal a sail somewhere tomorrow, maybe foreshore if it's the right direction. Anyone else able to bludge off work?Otherwise I'm up for either day on the weekend Larko. I think you have a sail I'd like to try mate ![]()
I'd guess the water is slightly cleaner now, and I'd like to get out but need to give the knee a rest. Sick, do you need to borrow a race sail? My 6.8m is going spare and it seems to handle 12 to 45 knots ![]()
I didn't actually mean steal a sail literally, I meant steal as in the action of going for an unauthorised time off work sail. I'm hoping I won't need to go as big as a 6.8 though Crash if it does blow today. It's quite still and benign right now so I'm hoping that's the proverbial calm before the storm. The forecast has changed pretty drastically over the night to the point where there aren't even any greens for today now at all. Looks like the westerlies on Saturday arvo could be the go for now!
Hi all,
Who is up for a sail tomorrow? I have the day off work. ![]()
Foreshore Road is looking good?
David
I'm going to try and swindle something David so I'll call you if I can. I'd say the afternoon will be the go if it's on. If not Saturday arvo looks good too.
Sick, i wasn't suggesting that you were going to steal a sail!! Looks pretty windy today so should be good at Foreshore (unless there's some south in it?) and the wekend still has some green arrows. I'm so tempted to get out.... If it's super flat my knee should be ok?!
I was there about 1:30 ish and it was REALLY gusty. I didn't go out cause there was no one else around except for probably a DOZEN dodgy guys hangin out in the sand dunes. I think Friday must be a 2 for 1 deal down there. It's quite disturbing being looked at as a target when all I'm doing is scoping the wind out to see if it's good enough for a sail.
Lets hope tomorrow is still good and we can have safety in numbers down there. Gimme a ring if you're heading out Crash and we'll try and meet up.
Larko if you come down can you maybe bring the 6.6 please!!!!
Yeah Rex, thats Uncle Mike.
Im gonna pack the wagon and head down after I spend most of the morning getting it registered. Rex, Ill pack what you want to try, no worries.
Stupid question, when going south from our side, how do you get onto Foreskin Dr?
I know how to go from Bestic St on the way home. Geez Im insular!!!
To get to Foreskin Drive you take the domestic airport exit from South dowling. The follow the signs to Port Botany.
How'd everyone get on on the weekend? I um'd and argh'd for about 2 hours about whether it was worth going out yesterday (actual wind good forecast bad) and got to Foreskin Drive just as it dropped off. People on 5.5's and wave boards! Damn. 2 hours too late and I couldn't get going with a 8.1m!
Least it gave me a chance to rig the new sail. Also tried out the smaller fin I have borrowed (a 42 I believe) and it felt very small!!
How'd everyone get on over the weekend? Sick you beat the 30 knot mark - good work! Knee feels 99% ok so should be back on the water this weekend - weather permitting.
It's always pretty gusty there Crash. Guys rigged on 7.2's were changing down to 5.9's then back again half an hour later. Sam rigged a 5.4 then went up to a 6.7 I think. I had a 5.7 and went down to a 5.0 (which I shouldn't have)and then couldn't be bothered rigging bigger again. I'm still annoyed that a 30.3 on my Foretrex shows up as a 29.7 on Realspeeds calculations.
Funny how when you go soooo close to the runway in that location within 2 minutes you have the security vehicles zooming along down to check out what's going on. We must trigger some sensor somewhere and they have to check it out as protocol. There are these floating buoys that say 'danger hi voltage keep away' and I was sailing within 5 metres of the things.
Anyway, it's still the best location in Sydney for Westerlies if you manage to avoid the 'Meerkats' in the sand dunes. creepy....

just saw a 49 knot gust at the airport. This is one of the worst teases with wind I've had in a long time. Work sucks ![]()

I got a report one guy was doing screamers from Longy to DY point and back.
If theres no swell its great fun, nice flat water. If it has any N in it it would be crap though.
I was driving over the harbour bridge at lunch. The wind was beckoning. The flags ontop of the bridge were flying horizontal.
:(
Fudging hell Batman. Where did you sail Chris? Down south/airport?.
Well done to the both of you!!
If only I could retire....
to Sam and Chris, WOW!!!!!
You guys have big Kahunas. Excellent work fellas....but I have to agree with Crash.....learn to gybe ya whimps!! ![]()

last time there Sam made the mistake of wearing his 'latex' rubber suit instead of his 'neoprene' wetsuit. It was VERY tight!
