Hi Guys, Waiting4wind = Des. I didn't register for the event, I was just observing the action (or dialogue at least). But allways keen to get out for a sail and a bit of speed. I'll be out this Sat if the wind is still on, trying to get some Windsurfing fitness for the trip to Maui in 3 weeks.

Cheers,

Des

With regards to Bayview tennis courts, there are a heap more moored boats there now. I can't imagine getting a decent length run there before you either run into the mooring area or all the boats coming out of the only decent boat ramp on Pittwater just south of there. I race out of RPAYC and most Saturdays it's like Pitt St with the amount of traffic passing.

An alternative that I looked at last weekend would be Etival street in Palm Beach. This it at the Eastern end of Careel Bay. There is another street just past there too. They are the last two streets before you see Careel Bay while driving along Barrenjoey Rd. It will only be sailable at a high tide as you will be over the sand flats, but it should be flat and the bay is aligned SE/NW. There are small grass parks at the end of each street to rig in but not much parking.

Looking at the forecast Sunday is the day for the speed strip in Botany. I'm happy with chop (if it's windy I'll take free-style kit anyway) but if anyone knows of a SE spot then lets head there!

I have a few phone numbers for the team, but missing some. Does anyone have all the numbers or do you want to send them to me?

Hey Crash, not sure if you have my mobile or not but I emailed it to you anyway. I'm up for either day but if people think Sunday is the go then I'll be there!

How did you get on yesterday arvo Rex. Looked like it was starting to drop away a fair bit. Was the sand spit getting exposed when you got up there?

Thanks Sam. When the spit did get exposed there was too much west in the wind and it was the complete wrong angle. I spent all the time slogging upwind against a dropping tide to get there and when I finally do it wasn't working!!! Anyway, I had a bit of a rest and then did 3 downwind runs back to the beach and it was on one of those runs that I did the speed. It certainly didn't feel that fast which I guess is testament to the board and how it handles. If you'd asked me on Saturday if I liked the board I would have said now way but after yesterday it's a completely different story. You're right too, that thing planes so early it's not funny. Leaves my old Fanatic for dead. I'm still really amazed how much difference the sail made too. I only got spinout twice yesterday and even when I did I was able to pull it back in pretty well straightaway. I would still be curious to try a different fin just for comparison though. I'm sure that combined with the right sail would make the board even better still.
Thanks again for the loan, I'll be in touch soon about what I'll do with it.
Andrew.
PS, is it worth sending you my speeds from yesterday? I know you guys went faster than me so all I'd end up doing is dragging our average down....

The board is a nice one for sure. Fast, easy and a sweet gyber.

Next weekend I'll give you the fin I used to use on it for lighter winds. In the end it became a good allrounder with not much chance of spinout.

Send on through your track as we'll need it to post anything from yesterday as Katapults GPS went a bit haywire one him. Anyway a peak of over 31 is worth putting up for sure.

Speak to you soon.

Sam.

Hi guys,

Sorry about my GPS stuffing up. It is displaying the top speed but not recording any tracks.

Sunday managed to get a 29.3kts. Personal best time. Really happy with the day.

Hi all,
now that I'm back I'm keen to get these team Cockroach tee shirts made up. Can you all let me know your preferred tee shirt size such as medium, large etc and I'll get onto it. Once done I'll then somehow arrange to get them out to people.
My thoughts are a black tee with a white print unless anyone has a difference of opinion???

Thanks heaps for organising this Rex.

I've got to say that all the gear I've seen so far from your company is very impressive so I can't wait to get hold of the new T. Black and white is good by me and if the shirts are similar in size to the ones you brought by the shop I'll go a large.

Sam.

Morning all,

What a weekend! Saturday 4 hours of 4.7m and 85ltr wave kit.. top speed was a useless 25knots. Then Sunday out on the 5.7 and a 100ltr FSW, top speed a poor just under 27 knots. All going well until I badly landed a table top jump and now can't walk. Sprained ligaments, may be a cartlidge problem, fingers crossed it's not. Weekend finished off by a trip to the loo (or should I say 20 trips) which i'm assuming is from dirty water...

Sounds like there will be some wind around for tomorrow morning!

Also had a top sail on saturday and sunday but with your GPS not working for me again i think its time i get my own.

Unfortunately i too spent sunday arvo and monday on all fours barking like a dog down the big white telephone. Looks like Botany isnt the cleanest fo waters after rain.....

I've downloaded the track data and it's full of invalid speeds - unless I consistently hit 38 knots... Which I doubt as the GPS display only said around the 25 knots.

I think it could be due to the location of the GPS, so i need to get an arm mounting thing..

Anyway my GPS is free for 4 weeks or more..

Bad luck about the knee Ben, been there done that too many times to mention. Be aware, dont push your recovery, make sure you do the right things to get back on the water or you could end up going down my path of knee reconstructions and months on the sideline.
Glad i didnt sail last weekend, with the flu and crook water who knows

If Sam is getting a Large, I will need an XXL. Just PM me when you have one for me and I will arrange to collect it. Given your generosityu organising shirts for some poeple you dont even know, the least I can do is to collect the shirt.

Thursday with a low tide and peak wind around midday looks great.

Might actually may be a good thing that you guys are all still feeling rather than having to lie.

Fingers crossed that it hangs in there!

Sam.

Put it this way, our T-shirt benefactor can shed some light or is it a well kept secret??
The other is someone who wishes to remain anonymous until the right time to unleash the board

Was planning on it for sure until I screwed my back again a bit over an hour ago.

Should be fine on the day but I bet my chiro will disagree.

Let me know what your plans are.
