Can you guys e-mail through your GPS files through to me so I can get them sorted to get us on the scoreboard? Best to e-mail them to the shop.
Sam.
38 knots on the lake? That's insane! What board was he on?!?
I have my GPS and the data cable, but that's about it as far as my knowledge goes! I might have to call you and get you to talk me through it!
I've finally decided to go for a cheapish Kinetic - hopefully it'll get me some bigger speeds!
To be exact it's a peak of 37.7 knots

Hey Crash and Katapult,
how was Foreshore on Saturday??
Can you give us the conditions and the gear you guys used??
It was great that at least we got some wind and that a few of us got to sail, its been awhile. Today looked good but work interfered.
Later.
Saturday at Foreshore drive was good. I havent been out for a few weeks with the doldrums we have been having lately.
I got down there about 11am just before the westerly kicked in. Initially rigged my 7.5m Ezzy Infinity and took out the JP Xcite 110. The winds were pretty light (sub 15kts) up till about midday. I did 24kts on the GPS with this combo.
After midday the gusts started to come in around 15-20kts. I re-rigged my Gaastra Matrix 6.5 and went out again. If you sailed parallel to the runway you would be on a broad reach in a westerly. The chop was minimal 5-10cm. Did 27kts on the GPS.
Today would have been amazing....35kts westerlies... Should have taken a sickie? ![]()
Hi KA43,
Hows the Falcon 111 going? Haven't seen you at Botany for a while.
I got down to Foreshore mid afternoon Sat by which time the wind had started to be patchy, at one stage I thought I'd have to swim back using my 90L board. I jumped on the Falcon 111 and got a stellar gust all the way to the end of the runway. This ended up being a 31.9 kts, 2 sec aver on display. I'll have to find my gps cable as the run felt like it could have been good over 250 & 500m. Ended up being a great first time out in 2 months.
So who got out today?.
Des
KA43 I was on a Gun Race/Speed sail with a huge luff tube - 6.8m and a 100ltr RRD Freestyle wave with freestlye fin. So perfect sail for speed but not right board. I'm getting a kinetic in the next few days so hopefully that'll speed me up!
Des did you have an NP sail?
Thanks guys.
Gidday Des, we didnt go to Botany much this past season, sailed different places and back to Longy a bit more.
I was on the Falcon and a 6.6 TR1 on Saturday. It was super gusty, one minute you were way overpowered, the next just floating. Water was OK and got a few nice runs in. It was really hard to string anything longer than 100 meters in. Ive given Sam my GPS to down load so if you can give him your tracks at least us Cockroaches can post. Chris C was on his Falcon 105 and got some high 29's in I think. Nothing compared to the Sandy Pt crew!!
Sam has mine, not great results but like you said it was howling one minute nothing the next! Yesterday would have been good at Foreshore.
Ive gotta come and check it out. Soon the water temp at the lake will be too cold for me so at least Botany is tolerable through winter.
Next decent westerly we will drop in.
Yesterday wouldve been epic, my spies tell me about 8-10 guys sailing Narrabeen.
Doesnt look good for this weekend, bummer![]()
Hi Crash Landing, yes I had an orange NP V8 6.5, but should have been on my 7.5. I thought you had an interesting combination of full on race sail with with FSW board.
Des
Not a natural set-up i'd agree! You'll ahve to thank Bud at windsurfingsales for that one as he rocked up at Botany to give me a boom and said "hey give this sail a go and see how quick it is". Let's just say i bought it off him and have been looking for a matching board ever since!! It is a super quick sail and i've never got anywhere near top speed. Fastest yet is 34.8 knots and that was on a borrowed isonic from windsurfnsnow.
Your falcon looked like a nice bit of kit!
Hi guys, greetings from the UK!!
I went for a drive yesterday to West Kirby which has the most insane speed strip I have ever laid eyes on. This place is custom made to deal with the prevailing Nor Westers they get blowing in off the Irish sea. The strip would be nearly a km long and is just a perfect angle with the possibility to high five people standing on the pathway bordering the run as you scream past them (a la Sandy Point)Two days before I was here it was blowing about 30 knots and Dave White was there putting in some high 40 knot runs. I've taken pics of the place so I'll upload them when I'm back.
Glad tosee you guys have had a bit of wind to get some runs on the board. I'm looking forward to doing the same when I get back in a few weeks and even moreso buying a new board. It's the least my wife can let me do after all the crap I've had to sit through with all her relatives over here.![]()
Anyways, I hope it blows for you all again very soon and I look forward to seeing you on the water!
Rex.
Hey Sick_em,
Sorry to butt into the thread here, but I'm wondering how big the speed scene is in the UK? Obviously Dave White is part of it, but do you think it has as much of a following as the speed scene in Australia? I asked on the UK windsurfing forum and it didn't seem to be all that popular.
This question is important, you might see why in a short time *shh!*
Attention all Roaches.
We need to get Chris Ting, Rick Murray and Chris Christensen to register ASAP so we can be eligible as a Team to win prizes.
Anyone out there capable of contacting them??
Sam cant as he is "working" on Maui for the NP conference, yeah right![]()
Lots of goodies on offer so see what we can do.
i've emailed CT
we should get a list of email addresses aroud maybe once Cap'n gets back from his junket.....i mean work trip.
any one sailing tomorrow?
Thanks Mike,
I got in touch with Chris from the shop. He also contacted CT and he will be faxing tonight. Rick was in there earlier but tel # doesnt answer.
Ringing Chris C at work so hopefully we can qualify.
Mark and I will try to get out at Kyeemagh tomorrow from 2pm, should be flat for some good light wind speed runs. We have new boards to test ![]()
Guys, looking at the forecast on BOm and SB Im wondering if Wednesday might be a goer for some W action either at Narra or Foreshore.
Anyone got an opinion??
Ka43 if you have the time Foreshore drive, in my opinion is superior to the lake as the gusts are a lot more consitent and longer..
Katapult, what size sail? There could be a nice little southerly about..
Funny how things go full circle, when i started windsurfing cams were all the rage, then the no cam race sails and now cams are back!
You seemed quick enough without the cams!
I will be at Kyeemagh at about 2:30... Should be able to get 3 hours out and will try to crack the alpha racing for the team!
Good work, what will be you sailing? I'm not a fan of going up to people and asking them if they're a cockroach...
Any results can be emailed to me as i have access to the website. Not sure when Sam is back...
I'll hopefully be on my RS slalom if it s back from Barracuda, or I'll be stealing Sams RS Racing
Carbonart 58 or JP Slalom 3 109
My sail number is AUS 016
Rick is sail number AUS 4, not sure what sails he's on at the moment, either Arrows or NP
JP Slalom 3 89 and 109
Hey Crash, Sam left without downloading my data from the other Saturday. He's gone for a week. I dont have the capabilities at work so is there any way you could do it for me??
Although I suppose it doesnt really matter if I wait until Sam gets back.
may be worth getting it in before the end of the month...
have you got the track data off the gps? If so, send it to bkirk @ boomerangexecutive . com . au . i can then do the alpha racing and bits and pieces...
Cheers
