G'day jbshack...
Yeah - I'm afraid the point and main car park are completely (and I do mean completely) choked with weed - wish I had a camera to post a pic - it was about a meter high in some parts...
Still 4-5 were out there trying - but it just looked foul - and it stank - you could smell it from the car park.
The Southern car park looked like it had some nice glassy lefts this morning - but it was one of those 'teasing' days that Mullaz can have from time to time, and I only got one right hander that I was somewhat happy with... in an hour of trying.
Did an early with the boat this morning before work, launched at 5.15 in at 6am.
Swell was a little bigger than expected and a bit too much west in direction so wasn't hitting the reef like it should. Really sucky on the drop, nearly double head on the sets but only lining up for 50 metres or so.
Not great but I got plenty of sucky take off practice, it was a short paddle back out and no crowds
.
Had a look at Trigg Seconds around 7:40 - still a little wonky and quite a bit straighter than yesterday - bit smaller too. Same amount of crew hassling for the few shoulders coming through...
Mate wanted to check the other beachie... was pretty ordinary, wonkier than Trigg, but no one out at the south car park and very glassy. Looked like a few shoulder high shoulders were coming through so headed out knowing it was going to be nothing special...
The drift took us north up the beach to the foul weed, and the rips brought the weed south so it now covers 300m stretch. There was no escaping it...
It was a complete waste of time (save for the exercise).
Agreed.
Those with the means probably already have their own spots anyhow.
Anyhoo, got some nice ones this morning before the wind killed it.
Oh..and ****ing seaweed.

Had a 4 hour holiday marathon at nth scabs/sth trigg - secret spot x. Good crowd early, bloody workers, but as they buggered off waves got better n better, really glassy in between rip action, lots of smashings handed out but some real gold in between, even when the nxt shift arrived at about 9, bloody schoolies, still got plenty good ones off the rips, super shifty so good chance to snare a few as everyone would paddle to where the last good one was caught!!!!
hope it happens again tomorrow
you in the Gillard surf team?
Na mate a teacher, a glorified school kid myself
speaking of which where are all the little buggers? two days of favourable winds, sun and some pretty good surf and hardly any hassles from frothing groms!!
must all be at the SHOW wearing their skinny leg jeans with their undies hanging out!!!
Found all those frothy groms

Jumped in this morning before work. Figured it was better than doing laps of the pool. Should have taken my wiper sniper.
On paddling out one roller peeled of like no wave i have ever seen before (at this local)cleaning everyone up, even those sitting further out..Sadly wasn't to be repeated![]()
Good way to start the day. I will say i haven't had that burning feeling in a while, maybe time to down grade the wetsuit![]()
Saturday. Despite the graphs and forecasts there was a surprising kick in the swell at some locations - and not at others...
Trigg Seconds was consistently well over head in the sets - and some with nice shape - BUT Trigg Board Riders club had three junior comps running and basically had the whole section...
At that time there was only 3 guys on the peak 50m to the north, so I figured that's where I'd go - then the clubbies asked everyone to move out of the comp area - then they went and set the swimmers area up on the northside and basically pushed everyone up to where the four of us were!!
When I got out a 10:00am it looked like summer - people everywhere. The Surf WA school was in the shallows, crew were right through the comp area, the swimmers area was chokkas with lids, and the clubbies were running their rubber duckies around - oh, and they had a large group of clubbies on paddle boards...
Needless to say I didn't have that good a surf...
On the way home I was surprised to see most breaks looked smaller than expected given the size at Trigg.
Couldn't agree more GPA.
Went up to Trigg, hung over as **** with my summertime fat board not expecting anything even remotely ridable.
Got in the water just before 11am and there were lots of guys out but some very decent sized waves rolling through and some very impressive surfers out there.
Oh and yeah...those two girls in the rubber ducky...classic.
Really wish I'd taken a different board. My summertime board is useless on anything above waist height ![]()
Had a club meet a couple of hours north. Turnout was poor, only 5 of us turned up but waves were good. Reasonable bit of size to it and nice long rights with the odd hollow section thrown in for good measure. Water was a nice temp, offshore, not so much.
Had a nice little surf on Saturday at Brighton, not that much shape but a bit of size and a few nice ones if you waited ![]()
Took the meyerhoffer out at my local on sunday expecting it to be tiny. Had a lot more size than i expected. Fair few crew out but they were all on the same peak while I was nabbing plenty of waves just acroos from them.
Not sure if any of you guys have ever ridden a myerhoffer but they're great boards. never found a long board thats so easy to pump and turn.
^^ Mate they are a strange looking board!! There are a few around over here but you dont see them in the water much.. ![]()
