This might be good (if the swell cooperates)...

Slater/Fanning/Fioravanti first up if they call it on. Next call in half an hour or so...

Margaret River's place on pro surfing's international circuit may be in doubt as officials of the sport's peak body deliberate over the future of the tournament at one of Western Australia's most iconic breaks.

EDIT
And Slater wins with an 8.04 heat total....
Just need more waves and they reckon this arvo might bring them...

I'm loving it mate. Watching South Point in the distance is fun, thats one of my fave waves. SW is not like non stop waves mate, gotta wait...trust me, although this is pretty smallish by North Point standards. Today has epic winds for this region & although not rare for this time of year. Still rare...they should be stoked with these condions.

I guess it was all the hype i expected to see some decent North Point.. Not what was thrown up in the first 2 heats. Winning Heat totals of 8 says it all.

This is the swellnet cam..

While we wait for the WSL at North Point, we've swung our Margs surfcam around to the Boatramp bommie, where there's a great session going down in solid 10ft+ surf.Watch it live here:

Sure does, lower tide has cleaned it up & picked up wave frequency. Stoked to see a contest here for something different

They've been doing well considering the short boards they have been riding & the late take offs as a result. They would be making heaps more baz if they went longer....but yeah fresh change, this is special

JJF was amazing yesterday, even the left he took at the end of his Round 4 was outstanding. Swell dropping today maybe run the women.

Yesterday showed why Margs needs to stay on the tour watching the world's best getting smoked on undersized boards was entertaining. (JJF on a 6'2 is mind blowing). Even the commentators said there is no excuse for competitors not having the right boards, simply leave them there. Wouldn't be hard to find a couple of local boys who would store some containers on their property for small fee - probably pay the rates and the annual trip up North.

Big drops, bottom turns, hacks etc was great to watch. Belting last section & avoiding the shelf

The variety of waves it brings - NP, The Box & Main Break are not matched by any other venue on the tour. Let's hope it doesn't replaced with a KS Wave Pool comp.

Main Break is in my Top 5 waves I've surfed and is an intimidating beast at size with shifting take off, clean up sets and big big drops!
