What's puzzling me is how this thread hasn't been censored yet by the censorship committee or is it ok because of majority WA players and their BS. Now we've got formula novis telling us rego is open to interpretation ffs.

I guess you haven't figured out what bothers the mods yet. Its pretty easy. Stay away from conspiracy theories as they go nowhere and stay away from personal attacks.
Pretty simple really.
Go ahead and create a new topic and add your conspiracy theories and let everyone get angry at each other and see how you go. WA people, Vic people, it makes no difference.
As for your reference to the rego thing, clearly you have no idea what I am talking about, so don't bother yourself about it.

You lot are happy to take the hand outs we in WA are working for and funding ,whilst your sat on your arse gaming and hanging out on the breeze forums ,you should show us more respect or we release Rolf Harris to jab you

Ahh, good to see some well thought out logical information from you kiterboy, instead of your usual dumb memes and stupid inane comments. Oh no, my mistake I was wrong again!
How 'bout you give me a summary of the WA rego rules and what the legislation says? Can you get someone to make a meme of that so you can understand it?
I don't think I have ever come across a thread created by you or had logical thought out discussion by you. Its almost as if you created your account just to hang **** on others and have some other account to discuss stuff properly. I doubt the second really exists though.

Personal attacks are fine with mods, Pugwash called me a Flog. I forgive him though 'cause maybe as a boy, his father never hit him hard enough.

I mean, it's not hard to find the correct info.
"If you have moved to Western Australia, you must change your interstate vehicle registration to WA within 3 months of becoming a resident. If you forget, your vehicle will be legally unregistered, even if you registered it in another Australian state or territory."
Good luck with your next traffic stop.

You sound like someone's bitchy wife.
Wrong AND naggy.
...How 'bout you give me a summary of the WA rego rules ...
WA - no annual inspection, just pay your fees and carry on driving
NSW - annual inspection required from NSW authorized testing station (if older than 3 years, not historic plates etc.)
If you want / keep WA rego when you move to NSW for as long as possible to avoid the annual inspection hassles - fair enough.
But WTF anyone would keep NSW rego when they move to WA, I don't know. Yep you've got a once over the pits check, but that's then it. Easier to go over WA pits once than NSW ones every year.
There are a few places in the southern Gold Coast where Qld motor licensees can do NSW rego checks, but they are all close to the border. Probably some in Wodonga and places on the other NSW borders, but I doubt there is anyone in WA who can do a NSW rego test and issue a certificate. Plus your insurance will be invalid. Third party covered in WA for NSW rego, but if you pay fully comp and don't switch your plates you are wasting your money.

Sorry mr/sir Carantoc, you are going the way of kiterboy and making assumptions about stuff. Kiterboy even quoted something wrong from a CTP site and assumes its correct. Not even a DoT site. Anyone can google the wrong answer.
Its pretty easy to get a NSW rego inspection done anywhere in Aus. Service NSW even provide a list somewhere of places that can do them and if I remember correctly they will even accept something similar if you can justify that you can't get anywhere else.
They do this so that NSW vehicles can be re-registered if they are not in their home state at the time.
Going off on a tangent, after years of being in NSW I like the annual rego checks as they tend to stop people driving around on dodgy tyres and no brake lights working, whereas in WA you could get away with this for ages. How many cops pull over people for anything in WA unless its really obvious or speeding? In NSW they check normal safety things each year, but in WA 'over the pits' is a bit more thorough in my opinion as they seem to want to catch things as they won't be seeing your car again for a long time. I have breezed through pink slips in NSW and had 2 cars 'over the pits' in WA.
Specifically I was talking about the legality of keeping a NSW registered car in WA and having it legally registered. Its not as clear as you might assume. It's certainly not this 3 months bull**** that kiterboy quoted.

So you're now a WA resident, but think the very clear rules are open to interpretation?
Must be why you and your NSW bretheren can't get a handle on covid, thinking clear rules are open to interpretation.
Lucky for you there is no IQ test to move to WA from interstate.
If you are in WA to live here permanently, or intend to take up permanent residence, you are no longer considered to be a visitor. You must apply for a WA driver's licence within 3 months of becoming a WA resident or replace your interstate learner's permit with a WA learner's permit.
If you are a WA resident and you purchase a vehicle licensed in another Australian State or Territory, that licence is no longer recognised under the Road Traffic (Vehicles) Act 2012 (WA) and you will need to make a new application for the grant of a WA vehicle licence.

Mates in eastern states 4wd clubs tell me that getting stickered for minor faults is no biggie for them - the inspection is only for what was listed on the defect notice.
Over here - stickered for a dud tail light results in the entire vehicle being inspected, although going by the amount of dodgy tail lights, brake lights, head lights, indicators and fog lights I see - many of our police could do with an eye test ![]()
As for Police checking cars - every time I go through a booze bus, [usually 2 or 3 times a week] I can see the cars in front of me being looked over by the Police for anything obvious, having a bald -ish tyre is a pretty pricey fine + points, + a trip through the pits for more stuff to be noticed.
And - it is never just 1 trip through the pits - you will take at least 2 visits to pass.
As for Police checking cars - every time I go through a booze bus, [usually 2 or 3 times a week]
I think I've gone through a booze bus 2 or 3 times in the last decade. Are there more police in WA or is there just something wrong with them?

Well you know how the WA economy props up the rest of the country; where do you think the money comes from?
Income from mining is secondary to the income generated by revenue raising officers in blue uniforms and speed roadside cameras.

That's easy. Anyone who doesn't like what someone else is saying can call 'conspiracy theory!'
Clearly, having clear rules for vehicle licensing in WA is only a conspiracy theory.
The Pits inspection is manned by bogan low life employees, who are happy to inflict as much pain as possible to anyone who goes there.
WTF brand new vehicles (if sourced from a dealership in the eastern states), must go through them inspecting it. This is for vehicles already in country and fully compliant, just because the buyer used the market competition trying not to fall for the monopoly who controls the WA retail.
Complete waste of time and resources.
Then for older vehicles, their attitude and care is appaling, several horror stories from damage the inspectors cause during the "road test" which the owner cant be in the car with them. Scratches, crashes and etc not uncommon. Do you think they own it? NO
Whoever thinks its a fair and honest system needs they heads checked. But then we have fellow watermen here defending Lockdowns, Hardborders, and now the friggin Pits.
Whats next? We dont need foreign enemies with fellow countrymen in our society who love and support the current dictators invading our lives and limiting our civil liberties.

Not sure about a list by Service NSW, got a pointer for it ?
Any NSW Pink slip check interstate is only on a temporary basis. Only possible if you are temporarily away from your permanent residence in NSW. They won't accept an interstate inspection from a non NSW authorized tester if you live permanently (or predominantly) outside of NSW. Moving to WA for six months is considered permanently in WA for those 6 months. And they won't accept it more than once, unless you have a very good reason.
My reference to Qld stations is that there are a few places close to the border, but inside Qld, that hold NSW accreditation to do the testing. If you go to these places you get a fully complaint NSW rego check and it isn't considered to be an interstate check. I don't reckon there is anywhere in WA that does that, maybe there is, but I never found one.
If you are a grey nomad and your NSW rego runs out whilst you are temporarily in WA (for less than 3 months) you can get WA based inspection and certification, which NSW will consider. But they won't accept this year in year out, and if you are living in WA for more than 3 months and do this then legally you have no insurance and no rego.
Been there done it. Both ways NSW to WA and WA to NSW. And the Qld thing. You can't get NSW plates issued whilst you are in Qld, but you can get NSW pink slip in certain places in the southern gold coast. Fortunately you can get a temporary permit to drive from Brisbane to NSW - from either Qld or NSW. So if you buy a car or trailer or (a solar powered tractor from a weirdo dude) in Qld and want to register it in NSW you can drive it with no plates from Qld to NSW on a single permit. Single journey, limited time, defined route, normal permit requirements - but single permit to drive across states and within a different state.
Also when you change plates over between states you shouldn't pay stamp duty. They might try to charge you it as if it is a new rego, but you don't have to pay, sometimes it takes them a few keyboard clicks and a chat with Karen, the supervisor, to work it out as you stand there questioning their knowledge of their own tax laws.
The question as to how many people ignore the laws is a different one. If you don't get pulled over by the cops and don't have a crash you'll likely get away with inter state plates forever.
- But then if you rob banks and don't get caught by the cops or shot by the bank security you'll likely get away with it forever as well.
Doesn't mean its legal.
If you do have a crash on dodgy plates then third party persons insurance is covered by the state (to the third party), but you will likely be pursued by the insurance companies through the courts and you are liable to pay them for their costs of any third party expenses. Any insurance premiums you paid will have a been a waste on money.

WA pits inspections are so random. And they don't check for 'safety issues', some will fail you for an unpleasant colour or because they are having a ****ty day or because they reckon your ford is worse than their awesome holden.
Put a car over WA pits once that had been on LPG but wasn't anymore. WA needs a 10 year pressure vessel inspection. Don't need a 10 year petrol tank inspection (but that's different complaint of mine). Anyways - the car didn't have a pressure vessel to test, and didn't run on LPG. But -
the solenoid valve for the gas change over was still bolted in the engine bay. Everything else removed. The solenoid didn't even have any hoses / plumbing or electrics / wiring. Just a lump of metal.
Car failed for non-complaint LPG system. Solenoid passed. But the tank that didn't exist didn't have a certificate stamped on it.
Unbolt solenoid, go back and car now fails for something it didn't fail for 30 minutes before.
Go different station next day and it passes.
But do it once and then chances are you'll avoid it again. NSW you get it every year.
