HA1150 or DW1100? I'm after a larger LW wing for inland lake winging and occasional pumping with a foil assist. 75kg beginner/intermediate. I just got a HA1050 (was a great deal), but I doubt it will do the job in very light wind, based on my experience with Cabrinha H1000 and few other HA wings in this size. I also have MA1050 and SF1080, but they both lack the glide in the lulls. Thanks
Definitely the DW1100. It will come up far easier than the HA. I would say it comes up as easy as my old 1450HA. It's also one of the easiest pumping wings I've tried. Glide is up there w the best of the DW foils. Because the wing is not raked or turned down like the HA, you will have to learn a more level horizontal jibe or use a longer mast. But I've had no problems w my 72 or 80HM just can't whip it around like a SF.
I just received my SF530 - but didn't test it yet as everything is frozen.
Completely different outline and foil sections than the rest of the SF line-up.
Loads of camber like the DW series and similar markings/text placement as the DW series.

Can't wait to hear about this one!

Wow, looks nice, very different. Looking forward to hearing ride reports.
Bunch of new foils up on the North website this morning... DW820 and DW690 as well as some new stabs... S122, S145 and S158.
Along with a price increase across the whole lineup.
What are your thoughts on the dw820? According to the North website, the dw820 is supposed to be significantly faster than the dw750 while having a lower take-off speed. How is this possible? Whats the trade offs, apart from the 4cm longer wing span (104cm)? Or is it just a much better foil?
Could this be the ultimate wing for open ocean wave winging (without the playful SF carves off course)?

can you point me to the spec sheet for these?

I asked customer service about width and ar. Dw820 is 104 cm and ar 13.2 . Dw690 is 100cm (same as dw750) and ar 14.5.

Thanks, nothing currently in stock as usual! I'll be spammed with email notifications when they finally stock up!
@Blippblurp the DW820 does sound good, surprised they mention it has a higher top end than the 750, does sounds like a great all rounder.
I really like the look of the new stabs, finally some smaller options!
Do you think North should/will refresh the HA line, or is it just being replaced by more specialized HA foils in the other ranges? The downwind range is all higher aspect than the HAs, and the pump and small surf foils are pretty close. I guess an updated pure high speed/race foil is missing from the line if the HAs aren't updated? This is all based on the impression that the current HAs are in need of an update, maybe that's not true I've never ridden one.
I'm enjoying the MAv2 for for now, but am thinking of adding a DW or surf foil this spring as I try to progress beyond just winging.

I had the HA 1050 and didn't like it at all. The MA 850v2 convinced me not to switch brands, and now I'm very happy with the SF680.Based on my experience with the HA 1050, I don't really want to buy another (North) foil with a span of over 1m unless I get to try it first. However, I'd be curious to spend some time on the DW820.
I have the chance to buy (used gear) DW1100 and DW900. North recommends to use them with S142 or S192. My weight is 98kg, so rather the bigger one for me. The problem is that these two stabs are anyway not available...
I have S270, S208 and S215. Would one of these work reasonably good with the two DW's?
Looks like they updated the riders guide to v5 with the new foils, stabs, wings, and FD masts:

There is still plenty of life in the SF range!
I just had a blast with the SF830 and s142 stab. Just so much fun; great turning, acceleration, low end.
Probably my KT Ginxu Super K board also immensely contributed to an awesome direct feel! In fact ever since on this board I've been gaining confidence and joy!
By the way I just saw that there is a s145v2 stab, which looks a lot like the s142 but oriented to surf! I can see the tips look bit more rounded.

Yeah my 930 is getting a little tired and I'd be stoked to get an update. It seems like the newest 530 is a departure from the rest of the range in terms of outline and foil - maybe a sign of new things to come in the SF range.

I see your point. Agree the outline looks different.. more towards the DW outline.
SF680 with s142 stab is just soooo magic!!! Had a decent couple of hours on it today getting it dialled with my Appleslice V3 60l (I'm 86kg). Had been using SF930 heaps, and also MA850v2, but the SF680 is just next level. Still has that early takeoff and slow stall speed of the SFs and silky smooth turny feel, but it's impressively fast (much faster than the SF930) and I was a bit amazed that it felt like it pumped arguably better than the SF930, if kept good technique (high on mast) it maintained speed in the pump really well. Quite hard to compare to the MA850v2 as both such fantastic wings; kinda splitting hairs - the latter perhaps feels a bit slipperier and could be a touch better for jumps and freestyle, but I think for me the pump n glide and fast loose silky feel of the SF680 wins hands down. If I used either SF680 or MA850v2 today would've been 9-10/10 session so spoilt for choice really! Will be interested to hear more about that SF530.
Has anyone compared the low end of the SF930 andSF830? Thinking about changing from SF930 to SF830 to have a more nimble setup but hope to keep the quite good low end of the SF930. Any thoughts?

I'm currently on the 1200 and 850 MAv2. How does the low end of the SF series compare for the same size? Could I replace the 1200 MA with a smaller SF and have the same low end?

Low end of SF is way lower than MAv2
SF680 is probably same if not lower than MA850v2
I haven't tried any MAv2 bigger than the 850, so can't say for sure regarding your 1200, but I'd suspect that SF930 has a better low and maybe even the 830.I can dockstart the SF930 to give you an idea of the low end.

Foil sections look similar so I'd expect low end to be higher. Why not got for the SF680 if you want something more nimble? It's got a great low end.

830's low end is just a touch higher than 930. This is my 75% of the time foil. I'll break it the 930 if it's really light or waves are smaller. The 830 in turns gives you a higher top end and natural cruising speed for bigger waves. Not a ton, but significant.

Ive used the SF930 as my light wind foil, much prefer it over the HA1050. I was just wondering if I get away with the SF830 instead, since the SF930 feels sometimes a bit slow.
In any other conditions I am on HA850 and HA650. Running all foils with S208/S178
Using a 2025 unit dlab 6.5m and Skybrid 70L at 85kg. Currently get going at around 8-10kts with the SF930

If you have the skills to get going in 8-10 knts with the 930, you shouldn't have any difficulties with the 830, maybe even the 680.I'd also pair it up with the 142 for better glide/pump.

similar experience with the SF930. I switched straight to the SF680 and also have the MA850v2. used both with S208/S178 but have the S142 now. I'd recommend skipping the 830 - you could even consider the 530 at your weight :)
SF680 and MA850 v2 have pretty much the same low-end.
I just ordered DW820, but delivery in Europe is planned at the end of May. Cant wait to try it out.
In last couple of days it was light wind from 8-12 knots and some small waves. I tried dw1400 which i previously rode just on flat and was surprised that it still played nice in the waves even when conditions picked up a bit. The upwind angle is also amazing but when going upwind speed is rely slow like 8-10knots. Still at times i forgot that i have such a big wing underneath. I did notice some flex on the waves which is not that unexpected even thou im only 70kg so i order myself HM mast which should arrived today ![]()
The DW820 definitely looks like an all rounder on paper (low end, top end).I'll pick one up for parawinging.
Changing gears here - here is the P1800

I can second or third this comment. I've had a few sessions in the waves w the SF830 and 142 and the speed, glide and turning went up significantly. It's my favorite combo. It also works on my DW1100 nicely in every aspect except I noticed one day I had smaller bumps and the foil was just too fast to stay in the pocket on a downwinder. Which says a lot about the speed range of the DW1100. So for Bay or smaller days in the ocean and max pump I'd recommend the 192.
