All the 85cm mast winging guys will be stoked.
Yeah, I'm still pretty happy with the 795 / 935 combo. Not worth the cost to go three size performance masts if I were to do it over again.
Haven't even gotten out on my new 795 hp mast, MA1225, MA1000, and flow235 and already feel I need more stuff with all the new releases. Really looking forward to comparisons of MA1475 vs MA1750. I've been using a HS1850 DW and I would want something with less volume. Any thoughts on whether these larger MA also feel "bigger" compared to HS (like the 1225 does) ?
Also, hope I don't wish I had gotten the 725 mast. I mainly wakefoil and DW (using 72 v1mast). For both most people seem to prefer a shorter mast than 795. Although DW I use a Foildrive so maybe some advantage in more length keeping the drive out of water?
anyone try the 625 yet?
I'm still waiting for it. When I try it I will send you informations.

Terrific! I'm looking forward to it.
Any recent feedback on the MA1475 and MA1750 for winging? I've seen a few folks on youtube using the 1750 for downwinders and liking it, but not much in the way of comparison to existing foils.
I'm trying to figure out if i get the 1475 or the 1750 for light-wind and variable conditions e.g., 8-15kn. At 95kg i really like the MA1225 for over 13kn... so do i go for the 1750 for max time on foil (but maybe frustrated at the top end) or the 1475 for a better top end and more fun on foil (but is it too similar to the 1225)?
I want to stick to 2 foils... or maybe pick up a used HA1325 or 1525?.
The guys at RealWaterSports suggested the MA 1225=1550v2, the 1475=1850, and 1750=2050 but me using the MA1225 vs. the 1550v2, i think the 1225 needs a little more speed to get going than the 1550v2 and has a much higher top end. So i feel like the MA1225 goes more into the 1250 range and doesn't get going as low as the 1550v2.

I winged on the 1750 yesterday for the first time. I am 65 kg dry. I did two sessions of about 19 miles each on a lake nearby. I planned to use it just for the morning but liked it so much i used it all day. Things I really liked:
- it turns amazingly well. Wing span is only ~1 cm less than the HA1325 but it turns so much better. My go to foils for winging are the MA1000 & 1225.
- it has a super low stall speed. The lake is about 10 miles long so has a decent fetch and I could catch bumps and glide better than any other foils I've used to date.
- Like the other MA foils, you can skim the water surface and it will glide on. The breach resistance of these foils is unreal.
I am anxious to dockstart and DW with it.
At 95 kg i think this would be an ideal light-wind foil for you.
I've been digging the 1750 winging as well at 65kgs. It is a slower foil, but it doesn't feel draggy like the 1850 feels (from what I can remember). It turns very well with the 60 fuse. Haven't tried the 50 yet. I have the glider tail on order. The speed 180 good winging, but a bit undersized on slow small bumps - but doable. The 195 gives into the forward pitching moment on the wing when pushing the speed. I'm thinking the larger tail will help with that forward pitch and keep the glide going on the pump. The 205 helps with the pitch, but not as good for pumping compared to the 195. Above is based on a handful of sessions.
The foil is a cruiser - very comfortable. I've gone the furthest upwind from my home launch on this wing, as I know I can get up in basically any wind and can also wing downwind or pump downwind very easily. Paired with the dw board btw.

Graham, have you had a chance to compare the 180 to 195 in terms of pumping? I towed quite a bit when I was down south this winter with the 205 which worked ok. However, I compared the 205 tail versus 195 behind my boat recently and hands down the 195 was way better for pumping (but still turned fine). So much so that I returned a new 205 and I'm waiting for the 220 glide tail.
Hi Radair, I tested back to back the 195 and the 180 and I found the 195 had better bottom end pumping. If you have speed they pump the same but as soon as you are loosing speed the 195 gave that extra pump that might save you for falling in the water.

Thanks guys - good to hear!
My MA1225, 935 performance mast and 205 tail are available if anyone wants them. Check them out in the for sale section. Cheers
Any chance any one could copy and paste some of that facebook info over here for the few of us that dont do facebook. I used to read when the armstrong group was public. Then they made it private and could not read it anymore![]()

I am with you on facebook but i am able to look at the gofoil riders group on facebook. Seems the armie group are a little insular but plenty of members. ![]()
Plenty on facebook - have a squiz there about 1475.
Thanks. Lots of great info/people in Armstrong riders group. Found what I was looking for on MA1475.
anyone try the 625 yet?
I'm still waiting for it. When I try it I will send you informations.
I could try it 30 minutes today I can not say a lot because it was on flat water, gusty. 12-13 the gust and also ? holes ? of wind (5-8 knots) I could fly with 4,5 (74kg). So at least I can say it can fly pretty easy but there is not the confort of the 800 or 725 in this bad, light conditions.it looks easier than the HA525. I will try to give more feedback when I will test with more normal conditions.

Thank you!
I picked up my ma 625 and 865 performance mast a couple of days ago , hopefully I'll get out on the 625 later next week, I took the new mast and my ma 800 out today in head to head and a half waves, the new 865 mast is great , felt very connected to the foil through the turns and less twitchy in general and more stable through the gybes as I switch my feet .
Unfortunately the wind was to dodgy to try the ma 625 today , was under 10knts on the inside at the end of the wave.
Definitely keen to try some speed runs on it to .

This makes me cautiously optimistic that a 625 might be a good add for me. As I've written before, the 800 has more slow-speed under the water drag than the 725 which (for me) translates into needing more wind or longer gusts to get on foil than the 725. Now you have me wondering if the decreased drag (due to size) of the 625 might mean that it only takes a little more (or maybe the same) wind as the 800 to get going? I look forward to hearing more.
BTW, I really love the 800 in surf once you're up and going. Such a fun stable wing that can really handle most of what I'm capable of throwing at it.
Any new reviews on the new tails? Upgraded from the Vtail to the 205. Just sold off the 195. Typically ride a 70cm fuse SUP torn on the 220 v 140. My mantra has been smaller tail on bigger fuse; but may need to adjust. Also finally getting into the winging game andn Figure the 220 would be good there and for micro swell sup.
PS- liking the 1750 in micro surf.
Tried the MA800 with the Speed 180 today great combo! Similar to foil speed as with 205 but more glide and acceleration. Kind of a happy medium between riding a MA and HA set up. You give up a little of the surfy feel of the 205 but it still can turn hard in waves. A little better at getting over the back of a wave and just as pitch stable (surprisingly).

Ooooh yeh baby. Picked up today from WA surf.

Thinner overall. Thinner chord. Slighlty more square tips. Camber totally obvious. Enough different to warrant a new tail , enough the same to hopefully keep 195 goodness. Its the one item my son raved about after NZ GWA thingy. Even more than the larger MA protos. Oh yeh and the 625ma ![]()

I think there will be a lot of HA195 popping up for sale.
Had a blast practicing some racing with my buddy with the 180 tail and HA725. I was 'comfortably' cruising at 20mph, peaking at 21.5 mph on my DW board and 795 mast. Would have been more comfortable with longer 935 mast. Tail also felt great with the 1000, allowing some really nice drawn out locked in transitions at speed.
Earlier that session, I was on my 27L sinker with the 1000 and 180 tail. The tail seemed a bit twitchy in comparison to the 205 for reference, but pretty nimble. Started dialing in some foil slides for the first time - fun stuff. First time on the tiny sinker and it went really well, other than needing to paddle out to get deep enough and be sized up one additional meter wing wise.

Does your son have thoughts about the amount of wind to get the 625 vs the 800 going? I'm wondering if the two are closer in what's needed due to the reduced drag on the 625. That first 0 to 5mph on the 800 remains a barrier on the low end. In lighter conditions I definitely rely on the chop+gust combo to get the 800 on foil.
