Dendy is launchable at the top.
Green point allowed.
Ricketts point south - ok ish at the south end


Most importantly

Mentone - Naples street (end of my road) is launchable too

WV and IWC caught wind of the original proposal at the eleventh hour as it was almost going to print. There where several meetings and what we see now is the outcome of those negotiations. A much better outcome than what was originally proposed.

That picture of the kiter on the sign is begging for some modification

Hmmm.... I wonder how long it will take for "dolphin humpers" to start trending as the new nickname for jetskiers....:)

Please note; Windsurfing Victoria has not made a broadcast about these changes yet, as Parks Victoria is still waiting for final approval of their installations. They will advise WV and others once approval has been given. An official notice will be issued. This comes over a year since the first windsport zones were installed at a Rye and Rosebud. Please Be careful and check the current rules and regulations that are in place.

Thanks for sharing this. Any chance to provide feedback on Stage 3? I see they've tried to be very accomodating, but they have the Parkdale area wrong. They have created a shared wind sports area east of Parkers road. All the windsurfers launch just west of Parkers Road next to the yacht club. It would make far more sense to have the areas around the yacht club as a shared wind sports area. Seems like they've tried to do this but got it wrong? No-one launches to the west of Parkers, there's no-where to rig up and frankly, there are more swimmers there so its less safe.

The launching area at Bonbeach is outside the 'swimming only' area. It starts at Williams Grove car park and the swimming zone ends well before that.

Looks like Pookipa and Point Ormond are limited to 5 knots within 200m of the beach. That's going to be a challenge for local sailors and King of the Bay pilots.

I was thinking the same thing... Somone is going to be made an example of for going over 5 knots when it's blowing 20 knots.... Ridiculous.... Anyone swimming 50 meters off the beach when it's 20 knots should be fined for being stupid....
Far out..have I made a mistake? .. Next they'll ban people from walking on the beach because the sand might be too hot..

I just wonder about some errors here. Am I right i thinking Pookipa isn't much of a swimming spot? Sorry to bang on about it but Parkdale yacht club should be a shared wind sports area, but its not. If you can't do that in front of a yacht club, where can you?

It's horrible, and plain dangerous where we all launch South of the outflow. Doesn't stop the occasion idiot swimming breaststroke through the shore break, barely visible to a sailor until you're on top of them.

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.
He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn't always fair; and
- Maybe it was my fault..

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers:
I Know My Rights
I Want It Now
Someone Else Is To Blame
I'm A Victim
Not many attended his funeral because
so few realized he was gone..

Makes me think not enough research/consultation went into this. There are a few no brainer spots for shared wind sports that seem to have been ignored.

People need to have a look at this, it's unbelievable. Sailed at Pookipa last night, and there's a new marker (the right hand X circled below) that is 200m directly off the beach South of the outlet.

My take on the effect of this is (at one of the most popular windsurfing spots in the bay):
1. No ability to sail downwind to get the ramps in front of the poo pipe. You basically can't sail in front of it with these regs - say goodbye to KOTB
2. No ability to sail from Pookipa at all if the wind is South West, unless you're prepared to do about 10 tacks to get the 200m off the beach
3. If the wind drops, or you're underpowered, no ability to get back into your launching point
4. Creation of a swimming only zone where the poo pipe dumps into the bay!

So they've buggered a great sailing spot, to give swimmers the unencumbered right to swim in ****.

I know a few people are already saying, "this is stupid, just ignore it" but last night, there were already people swimming between the two yellow X's - right through the regular sailing path off the beach. I reckon it's only a matter of time before there's an incident.

WV, what can we do to get this changed??

ParksVic haven't put any thought into these zones at all. I regularly kite at Hampton and the entire main beach is now a "swimming only" zone. Windsports area is now to the north between 2 rock groins. Clearly whoever has come up with these zones does not do any wind sports. It's an absolute joke. The area between the rock groins can be a handful for beginners (because of the swell) and will get very crowded. On top of it in a SW when the wind is cross on there is only one line out to clear the rocks and with everyone in there I am sure it will lead to few incidents.

Having said that I was out at Hampton yesterday and everyone was still going from the main beach without any drama. There were few windsurfers and few of us kiting.
