Seriously stoked; I've always had a belter of a time on the Oct weekend at ol' Georgie.

It has been a while for me - I've heard the road to the spit is a lot better these days; didn't someone say they've graded out that flinty steep section (that ate through two of my tyres one day trying to get up it). Will I get in and out with a station wagon with regular clearance, or do I need to arrange an air drop?

Trousers you will get around to the spit in a car easily, I seen a few out there on the weekend, you can sail from the 5 mile drift only need to walk out 10 feet and away,
Dave, I have booked the back courtyard room at the pub with full use of the bigscreen and dvd for 40 people, do you think this number is about right,
Pete, Tim, 2 barbys organized and working on the boat, although there is a few boats around putting in nets for the mullet at the moment,
Have talked to both land holders, Kev who owns the block after the gate, and midgie who actually owns the whole spit and they are both cool to have us there.

Just PLEASE make sure the GATE IS KEPT SHUT.

The water level is now higher than it was last year and still rising and actually started to flow out the channel to the sea which will be blocked of in 2 weeks after the next big tides, you can still stand up anywhere on the middle lake,

here is a pic of my tracks for this year out the lake, I always sail the middle lake as it is always the flattest by far.

and this is my tracks from Tuesday in the Northerly from the spit.(104 k'ms)

and Trousers a picture of the old rocky hill now all nice and bulldozed.

Will be good to sail and have a few beers with you all...........

Im excited! Worst part is going to be deciding between flat water or waves!!!!
Jimbob for the lake do we need a weedy fin? And would a 48cm fin be ok?

fletch you do not need a weedy as there is plenty of water, I was running a 36 on tuesday, from the spit you may need to walk a bit more with that big a fin but once out would be no trouble if you stay in the middle areas, you could sail straight out from the 5 mile though, just sail both the sea and lake like me there is plenty of time all weekend.

Good stuff Jimbob. Looks like you have checked out every square metre of Middle Lake! I didn't know the spit was privately owned...it's great they are happy for use to use it!

Hi Jimbob. What accommodation options are there at Beachport ?. I'm thinking of tenting it if there is no rain. Is there are place to tent out near Beachport ?

Hi J, a lot of us will be camping at the spit for the duration of the weekend. Sitting around the bonfire is a great way to get to know fellow sailors a little better. The tea trees provide a bit of protection from the wind and rain!
Cheers, Tim

sailed the lake yesterday and could't beleive how much the water has come up, water now over the track in places around the 5 mile drift and right up at the spit, was just of the spit and jumped off to check level expecting in to be around my knees and went up to my bloody chest....will have to use the high track by the longweeked but still no worries for cars going slow.
sailed through between the island and cockys point onto big lake easily, you could run the old mararthon course easily now.
5 mile drift

Wow Jamie, that is the highest water level I have seen on LG. How close could you sail to the spit(without a bush fin)?

Hardly recognize the place with all that water. Have'nt sailed much for a couple of years since moving to KI ,look forward to seeing you all again - Is Carl still fast? Will a certain sailor poke a stick in his sail again coz he was sick of it? picking up Kym on the way and looking forward to catching up and having a good sail again.

What do you mean Dad can get his walking frame on the speed Board Now? Did you finally get that mount made up so you can fit your wheel chair on it, wow a mount which takes a wheel chair and a walking frame, now thats some good engineering. Mr Zub might be interested in one of those I hear?

Haak last time i offered you a blast i got some reply about never ever going back, i will always have a spare board and sail for you to have a blast,
your kite rigging area has water right up and you can't drive on the big lake side.

Kimba I had one run halfway along near the spit and looks like it will be ok, was the flattest spot as well.had a 36 fin, will walk out from the end of spit to the first island on middle lake next time to check the depth but pretty sure with a 26 or so fin it will be sweet to run right in close. big lake side of spit is always shallower in close.

Ok, it's hang ** on the old guy then.
Jimbo, I might take you up on that offer, Bloody whippa snappers.

Right, Macflyboy & TAA, if its 25 plus knots how about a drag race, I'll even give you a bit of a start.
The winner gets wined and dined at the pub sat night. I'll ring up and order me a sea food basket and a bottle of Grange now.

hey pilly, wednesday is looking the goods.
don't get off until 4, You'll probably be home by then.

I've been hitting the wave between Big lefts and Posties a bit lately. Some of the sets coming thru there make me turn and run like hell.
Shouldn't be long before we can get back out at the Valley

Got me a Nene Valley express for those down winders days, shes a ripper. It will carry a windsurfer as well.

Jimbo, if it's a good north wester over the long weekend you should organise a down winder to Southend.

hey HAAK
Is that a "drag" race bouncing across the paddocks and fences holding onto an out of control kite or a point to point blast on the water

"GOLD" Russ, pay that one.
I've actually have done both with similar results, both crash and burn.
Wondered if someone would pick up on the "drag". That's what we called it back in the day.
