Still pretty slow here, it's been E to NE all morning but is only just starting to get up over 10 now ![]()
Yeah, that was a nice afternoon with pleasant company, topped off by a few Newies and a pork schnitzel down at the Beachmere RSL. Happy fridays ![]()
There's a spot for nearly every wind direction around here Olskool, the only issue with some of the spots is whether there is enough water.
In a northerly there's Turner's Camp on all tides, Phillip Street Beachmere (offshore/sideshore) on a high tide and if you really need to chase wind because it's too light at these spots you can sail off the front of Woorim (onshore) on all tides.
I gotta work wednesday but reckon i will be doing the mad dash to bribie in the arvo till dark again.
I'd be thinking Turner's Camp on the making tide through the middle of the day depending on how much West is in the wind. If there's a lot of West I might just wait for the high tide and sail local at Phillip Street but it'll be offshore and a bit gusty.
Hey. Still alive and well.
Hangin out for spring and seeing you guys regularly again.. But am hoping for first sail since end may
. Wednesday
I plan to launch at toorbul on the incoming. So l can suss out if any new pots or logs about in the shallows.. And drop downwind to turners. Ningi creek creek will be flat and perfect angle if any west in it.
By the way. Had my phone etc flogged recently. Lost all contacts. So anyone who has my number, send a text with your name will help.
Cheers. JV

Is that the Phillips St at Beachmere?
Yep, but Adam's just called so I'll sail at Turner's Camp with him and Walshie. Come join us if you're keen.

What time are you planning to be there?
Nice few hours at Turner's Camp with a few cool cats today. An early blast of wind dropped out over the low tide and then was a bit all over the place when it came back in. I had one really good session and rated it as being as good as Turner's gets then Brad jumped in the water and the wind dropped out so I took one for the team and packed up so the wind would come back. Hopefully the lads got some more sailing in after I left.
I had a good day in spite of the fickle wind, as the wind got stronger I decided to change down from 7.8 to 6.6 and then the wind dropped.......even Paddles' sacrifice was negated by JV turning up to rig. I waited around and went back out on the 7.8.... it started to come in steady again just before sunset as I was leaving. Shoulda brung the big f2. What do you bring when you go sailing????
Waricle, bring just a raceboard n 8m sail It does everything. Top end might be 5kts slower, but it goes when the others are slow.
Had my ol Speed up n runnin 25kts yesterday. While everyone else was bitchin about conditions. Works for me.
I'm going to hit the Beachmere waterfront early to mid afternoon with Adam for an offshore session. Hopefully we won't have to be picked up by the VMR
Looks crazy tomorrow, lucky I've had a few beers tonight to prepare.
Did you seabreezers go out? I went to wello, only did 10 kilometers, GUSTY and strong. 5.7 wave sail.. too big.. lots of downhaul.. mast track forward..boom low..weed fin.. sphincter pucker 9.5.. didn't get one decent gybe in , fell off all the fast ones. There's always tomorrow![]()

yeehaar!!!!
Yeah Tony, Adam and myself went to Phillip Street because we thought South Esplanade would be out of control on the high tide. Jeff dropped over to say hello too. It was hard work and now I can see the Redcliffe wind arrow trend I can see why. The tide and water were perfect but the wind was all over the place, it was just bullets coming at you the whole time. Adam and Tony were on their regular boards with 7 and 7.5 sails and I persisted with trying to learn how to sail the little BIC with a 7.5 sail. We all got some good runs, Tony and Adam were doing better than me but we were all knocked up big time when we got out. Looks like it's going to be silly windy tomorrow morning.
25kts at the Spitfire!!! Woohooo... hope you Sandstone boys are harnessing some of that grunt. Im stuck at work, drooling all over the windows. ![]()

Blue water n whitecaps as far as the eye can see..
Sunday dawn patrol sail before work for me. Eeek!!13'C. No wetty. Hopefully wind holds n i get a sail after work as well.
Too much wind for me, I'm sitting it out. Adam rang to say don't bother, he reckons The Pope went out and then came straight in and packed up it was too gusty for him. The gusts are crazy here at the moment Olskool, yesterday arvo at Beachmere it would go from 10kn to 25kn in an instant and then stop again, we were just getting tossed around, I've never been this sore since I first started learning.
Well that was sphinkter tensing today! I need a freestyle/wave board i reckon, they were the flavour today, the 141 carve was to wide for that chop, but a little exciting. More tomorrow arvo.
