Happy Easter Darren and all.
Another glorious day on Bribie. Got down to Sandstone Pt at 10.30 and surprised to find the car park empty. Filled up in the next 30 minutes so we timed it well. We only rigged the Rio today and took turns as the other taught some friends of ours how to SUP. Very light conditions but enough for us to practice all the tips we were given on Friday. Maryana nailing those tacks.
Jumping fish everywhere. A wonder we didn't collide with one. Used google images last night to educate myself on the marine life described above. Confident it was a bloody big dugong I saw yesterday.
Darren, let us know if you head out. We might fit one more sail in before heading home.
Happy Easter SS'ers
Honking at the Lake. Started on the Overdrive 8.6, ended up on my new Ezzy 1.0. (thanks Jason)
Should have been here!!!
Sorry for the no show Darren. Had to leave paradise early ![]()
Had a blast these last three days and will defiantly be back for more. Great location and friendly locals!

Do the prawns and have a resty poo Darren. Forecast is looking good for the rest of the week at Sandstone and the tides are in the afternoon and getting bigger.

Midday update - Adam's at Sandstone on lunch and reckons the water is flat as and another half hour of tide will be enough water, but there's just not enough wind yet.
Beautiful light wind day at Sandstone Point. Had to go out on my 150 go not enough wind for a small board. Did 20 kilometres planing 80% of the time without falling off so I had a dry sail. Made all my turns. Hope the wind comes in a little harder tomorrow so I can use my new board![]()
Beautiful at the beach but just not enough wind or water for me ![]()
Adam and I both rigged 8.5 and I watched Adam slogging on his GO as the tide dropped and packed up. He was starting to get a few long runs in on the last of the tide as the wind started to pick up but it was all over for me. Tomorrow looks really good.
Appointment tomorrow arve, so I might go early morning Bongaree, last of the run out and first of the run in.
Should be good I reckon.
On my way. Look's great!! Going to be a good one both sides of the low at Bongaree.
Perfect tides, and wind angle. Should be dead flat. Can't sail the afternoon at Sandstone due to appointment.
Work tomorrow.![]()
A most enjoyable session today with Pope John. Gibing right at the beach, long run's and flat water for the most part.
Nice big clean swell's earlier to scream along before gibing and going back out to do it again.
KA72 only show's distance and nothing else. Hope I can sort that out.
Can't sail tomorrow, but hope wind holds for Friday.
How did the new board and fin go Adam?
Very low afternoon high tide today with conditions as good as it gets at Sandstone. Usual midweek suspects with Adam, Jeff, Mark and Pirate Pete driving up to his old stomping ground from the deep south. I got there at 2pm and there was only 10kn of wind so I rigged a 7.5 hoping it would hit 15 at least and then the wind came in really good, I de-rigged the 7.5 and rigged a 6.1 and the wind dropped off, I de-rigged the 6.1 and rigged the 7.5 and then the wind came in good again. I said stuff it, I'm just sailing and sailed the 7.5 a little overpowered here and there but great fun. Forgot to turn my watch on both sessions so only got part of a track to upload. Tried Pete's 49cm slalom fin for the first time and it's really good so SOLD, it should go good with sails up to 7.5m and the 59cm slalom fin I got off Dieter should be good for the 8.5m and 10m sails in light wind. Both Pope John and Darren convinced me to leave the freeride fins in the car and go with slalom fins. Should be great again tomorrow arvo too.
Plenty of wind today, a little bit more water too. I joined Adam, Mark, and regular kiting guy (not Shawn) for a good blast. We were also joined by Beachmere Pete teaching his mate Dave to sail, very difficult day for learning with a 7.5m sail though, maybe a 5.5 would be the go. 7m sails today for myself and Adam and Mark had something smaller, but if I had a 6.5 then that'd be about right because the 7 was a bit of a handful at times. I started to pull off a few gybes today so I'm pretty happy, dropped heaps but enough wind for a quick water start so got going again quickly. Adam is starting to complete a few more gybes on his new 120 litre board as well. Heaps of mullet in the water today, i whacked a big one and Mark had three hits in his first session, we were hoping Adam's big toothy friend wasn't in looking for mullet for dinner ![]()
Hi guys, way off your topic. Ive got an old Bic Metal Rock. looking for a US box slalom style fin longer than 30cm. Anyone have anything suitable?
Good day today sailing with Pope John. We started big and re-rigged. A little up and down but good for the most part.
John packed up and the wind came on better. Then mark turned up and scared the wind away. Saw Adam turn up over the other side and help scare the wind away too. Nothing between 5.8 and 8.5 for me, so that say's a lot. Lots of time on the water anyway.

Mate I had the same problem with my Speed, (which I sent you a message about).
I tacked some bits of scrap steel to my steel bench and a guide over the top of the base either side for the router to run along and re-shaped a tuttle fin. worked a treat.
Maryana's birthday today so both took the rest of the week off to windsurf. Had RQ beach to ourselves this morning. Plenty of wind for us beginners. Offshore at times so those upwind tips came in handy! Plan to get away early for the high tide at Sandstone tomorrow. Hope to see some of you out on the water over the weekend.
I reckon I might join you guys at Sandstone tomorrow Todd. Should be enough water from mid morning till about 1pm, see you there ![]()
Not sure how i'm gunna go. I'm trying to get in front of everything in case the condition's come good and the planet's align for good tides at Burrum Fri 5th through to Sat 13th.
Also too close to assignment deadline to sail tomorrow.![]()

Wish I could have it all!
I joined Todd and Maryana for a sail today at Sandstone. Absolutely lovely day on the water but the wind just never really came in more than 5-10. Water was nice and clean and I wish I'd put the WindSUP on the car instead of the Magic.
