Hi guys, My lead on a lechner just died. Looks like you have to keep telling me what a weapon the serenity is.

Just might have to try to build one !

Sorry to hear that Lyndon. We'll have to keep an eye out for another Lechner.

Pete, that wooden DIV II is a masterpiece!!!

Yep its a work of art, surely it,s not that hard to build one, pretty sure someone has already measured up a lechner and got the relevant dimensions at each station. Or someone must still have one that they would like to see actually being raced and enjoyed rather that stashed under a house

Hi guys,

This Saturday is the last of the Winter Series at DAC, so I'll be headed down there for the day, therefore I won't be at Gosford. Pity as the forecast at this stage looks pretty decent.

Given the forecast would have been a great chance for the flapper board to get on the water

Sailed in a very gusty north westerly with a friend, Don. He did well as he hasn't sailed for 20yrs. I took the phantom out for the first time. It is so much more directionally stable and predictable than the RSD2. The deck feels cluttered towards the rear. I felt a bit more drag than the RSD2 but it didnt feel small to me despite being 150 liters smaller. I really like it more than I expected and am looking forward to learning it better.

Hi guys,

Great to hear your Phantom has been Christened Lyndon, must be time for a new board now ;)

I see Pete has Christened the LORD Racing 9.5 too.

I'm kind of disappointed I'll be away this Satruday (at the snow) and away the following weekend too (Golf) - so many sports, so little time :)

See you in 3 weekends time.

Note, Summer racing will commence from Gosford sailing club on Saturday 2-Sep, 2017.

Yes will be at sail club. No new board this week but I did buy a new ... well very old sail. Its a neil pryde "licenced to Hoyle Schweitzer" 8.8 slalom Lite. Its in amazingly new condition. But WHY WHY WHY. Well at first I thought it might be a good challenge, but I really wonder if it could be a secret weapon in ultra lite wind. Luff 5.3 and massive deep progressive camber right to the top. No camber inducers, it all comes from very soft battens . In its day it would have been thought of as an absolute giant. Im actually hoping for low winds to see how it goes. Ha ha

Oh yes Ive heard the snow is pretty good so enjoy!

I'm away for the weekend, so I'm out for both days. 35 knots would be great Div II training ;)

I'm sure Lyndon has a slalom board or two you could put to good use :)

Good morning all,

Well my weekends away have come to an end (for now), and with only one Saturday left before the Summer racing season at Gosford Sailing Club Starts on 2-Sep-2017, I'll need as much practice as I can get to build up my fitness.

I should be at the club around 12:30pm tomorrow. The forecast is looking "all over the place and not much breeze". So it might be another day for the displacement hulls!

Hope to see you all there.

Sorry Guys again. Will be working this coming Saturday, and Sunday. Ie 2nd and 3rd sept. Got out yesterday with the Phantom. Learned a bit about rigging the new (2nd hand) sail. Had a few good fully powered runs in the back straps. The Phantom is so directionally stable and incredibly stable generally (compared to serenity and RSD2). I goes where you point it. I did find it much harder to rail and also harder to read how high I can point. The deck does feel cluttered but that seem to be a problem mainly with gusty shifty winds. Its all fine if you can be more committed to the rail.

There are a number of deck plugs that I cant understand. Need some explanation. Also not much option for people with big feet to set up big foot straps. regards Lyndon

Good morning all,

Sorry to hear you can't make it tomorrow Lyndon, as tomorrow is the 1st race of the Summer racing season. The forecast is looking reasonable, hopefully the nor easter comes in earlier than predicted.

The timing of events for tomorrow are :-

10.30am - Sailing Seasons briefing - I expect this will be more detailed than our usual briefings, hence the earlier start time.
1.00pm - Cobweb Regatta - Sailboards were usually the last start last season. So I expect our start time to be closer to 1:30pm.

All boards are welcome, Windsurfer One Designs, Raceboards, Formula, BIC Techno and Division II's. We'll try to adapt course lengths for faster/slower boards or sailors to try and keep everyone in the racing as much as possible.

Sailboards usually rig on the waterfront side of the carpark on the Southern side of Gosford Sailing club, as there is plenty of rigging area as well as a reasonable launching spot (cleared from most rocks and oyster shells during the winter season working bee).

I'll aim to be at the club by 10am. Look forward to seeing you there.

Really enjoyed that run. I'm learning to sail the phantom, especially down wind. I am impressed with how perfect the nose is on the phantom. Hardly feel the waves as it slices through or rides over. That's an area I thought the RSD2 would be heaps ahead of the phantom, but theres not that much in it. No wonder when the phantom has other really strong advantages like tracking down wind it comes out ahead of the RSD2 except in specific circumdtances. Away in qld next saturday. Hope to sail saturday week. The earlier start makes it a bit harder though if other things on.
