Yes but you have your god Stribo. Its different for sensible people.
At one stage the board lifted right out of the water and almost converted me.
Actually that's probably caused by sheeting out isn't it.
I can see I'm going to have to lift my game.

Comments: Not happy with how I rigged the sail. The sail wasn't stable nor felt fast. Need more downhaul. Didn't sail for that long as I wasn't happy with how it was going. However its my first session and will help my team, the Pittwater Punters get going.

Hey Bubs,

On the site you've got a 2 sec max of 22.98, but above you've got 28.9... Bit of a difference, is one of them a typo?

Also well done on putting the google earth picture on there, it really does say a thousand words

Good luck for your op, keep us posted on your recovery.

Yeah had to put up the max display but i cleared it when my dad had a shot and forgot what i had there. So just put up 22.9 but did make the typo and put 28.9 lol. Sorry about that. The one on the GPS site isn't a typo. Max may have been a bit more than 22.9 but i can't remember. Change it to the same as 2 second maybe......

Anyway is there a way to check this on Real Speed???

Thanks for the good wishes.

Cheers
Bubs

GPS Display Maximum Speed: 30.6 kts

Conditions: 17-22 kts

Equipment: 115L JP freeride, 5.8m Ezzy Wave SE

Details about Self: 90 kg, 30 years

Comments:

I had set myself a personal goal for the burrum speed trials, to see 30 knots on the dial. I took to the strip using gear which looked very out of place next to the specialised speed kit that most competitors were using.
Started the day in lighter winds with a few runs in the 27-28 range. The wind strength started to build and when I saw a max of 29.8 knots on the dial I knew it was on.
I ate my muslie bar, pulled on more downhaul let out more outhaul, nudged the mast track further back and went for it. 30.1 kts on the next run, 30.4 on the one after that. Peaked out the day with 30.6, went home very happy.

Conditions: Burrum ripples ~20 kts

Equipment: Windaction slalom, fin Torquay freeride 33, 5.3m Gaastra Manic

Details about Self: 70 kg with all the usual bits

Comments: Rigged my 5.8 and found I'd left a batten at home so I rigged the 5.3 instead. It was late. The wind was dying but I picked up a late gust.

Date: 6/4/08

GPS Display Maximum Speed: 30.55 kts

Conditions: 17-22 kts

Equipment: Windaction slalom ~90 litres, fin Torquay freeride 33, Ezzy Wave SE 6.5

Details about Self: as above

Comments: No excuses. I shoulda gone faster. Next time I will carry a little weight.
I found I can't gybe going that much faster than the wind. The rig just doesn't behave. I'll have to practice my step gybe. Ducks seem to work.

Nebbian, your record is safe for now but your days are numbered...thinks "35 on wave gear? not in this lifetime"
