Meanwhile, no waves for me today. Skin doc went to town with that freeze gun thing they use. Found so many spots he started laughing after a while. Plus I'm a bald coot so the melon needed multiple zaps. Sigh. At least there was no scalpel work this time. Getting old's a bitch, but it beats the alternative.

Been doing a roadie had a few fat ones at caba, then some sucky beachies at Hastings, now down around Arrawarra area waiting for swell in next few days, but flicking soft plastics around the local creeks to fill in the down days, doesn't get much better although hailstorm west of Pottsville cracked my windscreen and trashed a new unridden board in a soft cover on the roof of my car yesterday arvo, couldn't believe it.

Sounds like a good roadie so far, apart from that hail storm. Great part of the world, waves or no waves.
Hope a creative insurance claim can cover the windscreen and the board. And may the weekend wind change make all your dreams come true.

agreed ...great part of the world , Pups back yard , seen a few Flatty caught in the lake , just watch the hard case Kookaburras, they love snatching the plastics on the back cast .

Kirra no sign of Asea the King

Meanwhile, the prez's posts next door say he heading towards a famous island .... with surf. This is the daily pic from swellnet (if I have the right island )
Get amongst it, Nozza!

I think you have the right Island, and I'm here.
I need to sort some grip on the new board, or find some wax, and the weather here is about to go Victorian.
But that picture sums up some of my problem.
Or problems.
I go and look at that break, and no one is out.
I think "Maybe I'm the only one on the Island that wants to go surfing now"
Surely not.
Or maybe, despite looking nice, it is really dangerous and treacherous, and I shouldn't go out.
Surely not.
Or maybe since we are about a km from the largest shark food source in the southern hemisphere, everyone has been eaten.
Surely not.
And why would sharks go for surfers when there's entree penguins and main course seals nearby?
Actually, looking closer there appear to maybe be a couple out?
Or is the water so cold everyone has frozen to death?
Surely not.
So I look.
And wonder.
Sometimes walk towards the water.
Sometimes not.
Sometimes drive around to the other side and look there.
And usually give up and go home.
But I have another private break nearby I am going to start on, which I will report back on.

Good on you, Nozza. I have family in Melbourne and appreciate what you have been through. Even the relatively easy restrictions we had here in Qld gave me the heebie jeebies big time when they were on. Glad you are free.
There's a lot to be said for taking it easy on the 666 in the most benign conditions you can find. I have more fun on crappy-or-novelty waves with no one around than I do in great waves with a few other surfers to deal with. That's true whatever board I'm on. Enjoy the well-earned getaway.

Wind was on it early here in Qld, but the sunrise was infused with the lovely glow of an origin victory.

Got some nice ones this afternoon . Nice shoulder to head high peaky swell with the banks slowly improving won't be long before I pack it all away and leave the holiday hoards and day trippers to it . Some horrible scenes last year and parking a nightmare . Give me Autumn / Winter any day

Great way to start a Friday

Howling westerly here today but a nice consistent perky north east swell waist to shoulder high. Got a bank pretty much to myself and got plenty. Bit tricky on the barge with the wind and constant paddling but all good
