What a weekend :

Surf 1 - Saturday morning 3 1/2 hrs, 3-5 foot, offshore wind, reef break with about 20 others on my 6'4...board felt like I was driving a bus as I had been riding my 5'10 solid fro a few months...thought to myself I should ride my 5'10 if its like this next time

Surf 2 - Staurday afternoon 2 1/2 hrs, 5-6 foot, cross/offshore, reef break with about 6 other blokes...on my 5'10 and found it held in there on the big was and had tons of speed but was a full mission as the current was really ripping through...had some super solid waves though which was super sweet

Surf 3 - Sunday morning - 2 hrs, 6-8 foot, reef break, off shore wind...1 other...got down and it was still dark..stupidly had only bought the 5'10 and couldn't be bothered driving the 5 minutes home to get another board....really hard to tell the size but it sound big got down the cliff and could kind of make out lines of white water everywhere...got down to the channel which was pretty much boiling lines of white water with the odd gap but its pretty hard to tell if its the tide, the current or the swell that's making it boil around so I dive in....about 10 minutes of duck dining and paddling and I finally get out the back and have about a 100m paddle across to the peak hard to tell the size as its still fairly dark but I get to the peak swing into a wide one and ride all the way to the channel...kick out and where about 10 waves on the head where its usually clear water...paddle paddle see another guy jump in so paddle paddle back to the peak turn around can't see anyone get another couple of waves and repeat...current is fairly ripping through buy now and the couple of seessions from the day before are starting to tell...anyway I get one through to the channel and am paddling back out when I see old mate has made it out the back and is on the peak...at this stage I am really struggling to put a size on it cause of the dark, the tide and where its breaking...old mate takes off and this thing just rears up behind him 3-4 times over head...I just though holy ****sticks I should of grabbed that bigger board...any way grabbeda couple more before gave out and thanked who evers in charge that it was a high tide or the 5'10 would not have been loving it

Surf 4 - Sunday morning 1 1/2 hrs, 2 foot, off shore, beak/reef combo 2 others, then 20 others....driving home from the big session after the wind started to swing and the current got too much and I spied an unloved peak just near my house so I jumped in and made a pig of myself until it got busy

....rounded of with coffee and bacon...

Sounds like an amazing weekend Tux. Nice one. It was terrible up this way any pics ? You must have been pretty happy that your Vanguard styled 5'10" is handling pits that size. I definitely would have been reaching for something a bit more substantial ! Or maybe heading somewhere else at 3-4 times overhead early on a Sunday

I made a mess bro...I rode the big board when it was small and the small board when it was big...that will teach me not top pack two boards

Maybe the Eastern side between wild dog creek & lawn then, love that stretch of coast. Almost bought 40 acres of ocean view with a waterfall back in '97

Yes indeed. I was watching that swell approach all last week thinking how lucky you were Tux but there is no way I would have been that far down the coast

nar. to be honest ted at 9'6 x 23 x3 I can do anything with it nose ride, trim, ride bigger waves, even get barrelled like on nye.

had ideas of the same board at 9'1 more my real size but if its that good i'll be on the shortboard - mr's I would think. the 6'10 might even happen yet who knows

I could be interested in this new log if we can talk him into no more than 9'6 long

Yep, 1 of lifes mistakes...I was bagging & delivering bread for Otway Bakery when it first opened. Working 12am to 8am generally, longer at holiday times. This place was 60k for 40 acres. Every inch a sea view with 2 streams meeting into the middle & a waterfall falling down beside the great ocean road. I havn't been there since '97 but the pyramid abover wild dog creek was just down the road. It was a great spot & I heard they had the no'1 biggest real estate boom in Oz for Apollo Bay a couple of years later. Would have been an awesome investment with a quick return. But my gran died, I returned to WA for the funeral, met my wife & never returned.

Can't say life didn't turn out well, loving the new house. But I'd be a lot closer to retirement if I'd made that investment or a number of others haha I guess we could all say that with the benefit of hindsight

Sounds nice Locky, my olds have something similar 180 degree of ocean with a few outside reefs to give an idea of conditions. Love the view but surf is very fickle there (Perth). Their blocks pretty small though, probably only 500m2. Prefer my ocean glimpses with my local 2 mins drive away Its funny there are a few blocks around here that measure in acres. Its pretty special to have a place like that in suburbia. My wife & i had lived on a couple of acres 7 mins walk from the heart of a town & it was pretty special. Built by my great uncle in 1917, had an awesome front hill billy verandah to chillax with a beer. But no ceiling, was built like a tin shed with no electricity haha. We lived there for 2 years lighting up with candles, cooking on a camp stove & cooling with ice in an esky...my wife hates camping now lol

Yeah I had a dirt cheap opportunity to be one of the very first landowners along the parade at the local Mick back when she first opened - didn't sell too well in the first stage they were pretty much giving them away for a couple of years - just couldn't handle the limestone dust blowing so didn't buy up ... have a gander at what they're worth nowadays
