Quivers can be a bitch, the more you have the more confussing board selection can become.
I've had boards made that have made others redundant, added to the collection. In the past I've struggled
to part with a couple due to their beauty.I've just off loaded 2 with one more to move on.

I think I've got the quiver balance right.

1 x 9.1 which if I choose I can take OS
1 x 9.6 2 + 1 pin tail
1 x 9.6 single fin pin tail
1 x 9.8 2 + 1 square tail
1 x 9.10 single fin square tail

What I've done is drop the like for like boards.
Now Lacey gives me sh-t about my boards, but he is not dedicated to the craft, the beauty of surfboards.
I know you'll be reading this Lacey,so no need to text me your waisting your phone credit.

But more importantly;

do the colours clash

&

Do any of those boards make your bum look big

I think you need a two board quiver for a while maybe 6 months

I reckon you have about the right number for day to day use...if your just riding longboards its pretty easy to keep the number of boards low IMO....my current quiver looks like this

5'10 Vader for really good waves when I don't need to paddle much
6'4 Quad fish for most waves up to about 6 foot
7'0 Black Beauty for good surf between 6 and 8 foot
8'0 Greg Brown gun for over 8 foot or when the sweep is running hard

...and I'm just about to add a 9'0 Comp Mal for board riders next year (****ed if I know how I got talked into that)...I'm also making a 6'2 that will hopefully replace the 5'10

There are alss a bunch of other boards that don't get much of a look in but I will pull them out if I'm feeling a bit stale and want to ride something different

Will the comp mal be a Greg Brown? That pink thing he rides (very well) in comps fascinates me.....

This is the only board he needs, he rides it like a demon............but no, "it's too easy to catch waves, it's cheating" Mr mac's words lol

Of course it's much better to have a board that you struggle to catch waves on, is slow, not manoeuvrable, unstable and a general dog of a board............but looks cool

Mac - its a nice quiver - no denying that. I reckon you should keep a surf diary over the next 3 months and see what boards you are riding when and where etc That would be a good thread topic !

At first I thought I'd have overlap with my last board purchase & a board I've had for a few years. But found they ride very differently, each with their advantages/disadvantages. Surprisingly I found the new one handled sucky beachie waves better than the older board...I guess the result is I'll surf each one less often, but that's ok. They were both cheap fun boards for less serious waves & if someone visits on those kinda conditions I can lend them one like I did for Ted when he was here & wouldn't give too much of a fark if the board was dinged.

Have a couple of other boards that could be said overlap a bit, but for bigger/better waves which is good to have a spare'y anyway.

Although I have 7 boards, a relic & a 666. Apart from the relic they all have a place & a time. I don't have to be surfing them regularly to justify having them & I can still think of boards I could use very occasionally plus an upgrade.

I'd like to upgrade my head1/2 plus goto(s) & have 3 boards with 2 spares coz I reckon there are better boards out there to try now & I don't have any sensible boards for over double head. I can get away with what I have in places like Bali if theres no wind or bumps, but the take offs are pretty late & bumpy otherwise.

Oh yeah & I'd love another 10 foot log for summer & the 9'8 Purdy a friend has for sale & a super light thin/narrow 9 foot modern mal for those small low tide days.

My noserider art mate, the white board was an experiment as I mentioned, thats why I didn't sell the noserider incase it was a flop.
Now that the experiment has been proven its time to replace the two boards with just the one.
