They were well before my time Al.
I was more Commodore and Falcon generation. Dad even bought a Camira at some point. The 80s was really when cars lost soul and style.
But it's a great shot. The quintessential Surfing shot. Car, Single fin and wettie. A few bucks of petrol and you are living the dream.
Ha,yeah I've had my share of Commodores to mate
,all been pretty good. The old Camira's hey haha,my mate had a Camira wagon and for a car that's probably most hated it went pretty good really and he didn't have much trouble with it,lucky one I guess.Yep you're right that is the quintessential pic,it's all there![]()

That one is a 1954 4 door Ranch Wagon, in Aus we only called them Customlines and the Utes where Mainlines. The Yanks called them Ranchwagon,Victoria or Crown Victoria(2 door),Parklane,Fairlane,Galaxy,Crestline,Country Squire![]()
"Fairlane" was the name of Henry Ford's property,estate![]()

Yeah they are great to cruise around in mate, although when you're driving them you can tell it feels like a 50 year old car, haha,as soon as you get back in a modern car you can really tell the difference.I suppose that's why we buy them though,it gives ya the old way of doing things.I love driving the old Holden around!..![]()
