Local Boat is back on the market after a little make over...still cant see Swanson in the hull apart from the cabin and deck. ![]()
Looks like they have placed the binnacle and the wheel in what would ordinarily be the lazarette on a Swanson 36

Yes I agree it certainly doesn't look like a Swanson hull but anyway the helm position placement and outboard makes it a little weird. If it's anything like a Swanson it is a very heavy displacement boat to be powered by an outboard. Quite apart from the power aspect boats with raked bows and sterns which extend well beyond the waterline length tend to pitch a lot so I fail to see how an outboard leg would stay in the water in rough conditions when you may need it most.

It's a Swanson hull apparently, they made a racing version but has the cruising deck. It comes with a Diesel engine not installed, the outboard was fitted by the last owner.
I wonder if it's the old "Lady Jane"? That was a 36' Swanson but a custom hull with a standard deck if I recall. Patsy was a wooden custom hull like a stretched production 36 with a standard deck, so custom Swanson hulls with stock decks on top are not unknown.

As per Stormy Petrel but it was an S+S hull with Swanson 36 cabin. That clipper bow is really unexpected. I recall some clipper bow S+S designs of that size and era will try and find them. The tumblehome could point to S+S also.

I would say the owner is confused with both the engine size and headroom. The IF Folkboat would have about 4' 8", the M26 probably 5' 5".
Lovely yacht for composite lovers.

Good value yacht for about the cost of the new Beta 20 engine. I'm going to have to finish off the padded section on the forward edge of the cabin like this boat has to stop banging my head on the edge!
Nevins, Nevins, who the @#$% is Nevins?
Above the waterline this looks a gem. So, what lies below?
Possibly a great little cruiser.

Nevins didn't consider that load case...............

I was having a drink with a well known sailor and Sydney to Hobart commentator when we were interrupted at the bar. This fellow overheard us talking and asked the question of my acquaintance.
Have you sailed?, to which he replied 'Bits and Pieces'
Your comment reminded me of this.

For someone that has allegedly given up drinking this seems somewhat incongruous .

Still haven't touched a dropped and am comfortable with that decision.
I have sniffed a few of my wife's glasses when she drinks a label that we used to have together.

The above are a couple of four dozen bottles given to me by Bob the Australian racing driver.
He drives an orange Ferrari with the number plate 'ENZO'
I have been giving them away as quickly as I can, but I am worried they may be off .

10 years prior to that vintage were the legendary 82's, I remember the Cabernets...barely...were you really there then...! the Wynn's John Riddoch and the Penfold's 707 of '82 going for $17.50, bought quite a few (on a teachers salary), the Penfolds marketing Dept hadn't yet thought of the Bin 407 but everything seemed to take off then as the 'Crazy '80's kicked in, and only over-priced auction purchases of Grange seemed to assuage the fevered minds.
A few years prior to this the auction market was redolent of such gems as '65 Tulloch Shiraz, numerous vintages of '50's and '60's Woodley's Treasure Chest wines, Maurice O'Shea Pinot Shiraz Mt Pleasant wines, '60's Kaiser Stuhl andLeo Buring Rieslings and also a very memorable Leo Buring Vintage Port from '71...lots of soft licorice over the top of deep, deep dark plum and berry fruits carried aloft on some sublimely smooth spirit...have rarely tasted a similar Australian spirit since...but a shout out to a friend Paul Tumminello's 1986 Vintage Port from Mudgee which had a similar ethereal lift.
Then shortly after came the amazing quality of the '86's, when else could you get Wynn's and Penfold's Koonunga Hill Shiraz for $4.50 a bottle. The 1980's what a great time!, forgot to mention the emergence of '82 Debortoli's Noble One, and one for the congnoscienti, the'82 Rosemount TrockenBerenAuslese Riesling, perhaps the wine I can most easily bring out from the palate memory from so many years ago...a little gem only ever in 375ml.
Sorry to put a damper on at the end but enjoy your memories while you can, I've got a few friends who have lived incredibly rich, deep and diverse lives, with a lot of healthy years ahead of them now, but sadly no memories of the lives they have lived.
Looks interesting for the right person. Saxby26 , Its a couple of arms up from me.
Initially advertised for $14000 app , dropped to $10000 app , since put on Greys online auction couple of weeks ago with a reserve and passed in at $4500app. Listed again this week with Greys no reserve. Being a one off scares me for future sale thoughwww.grays.com/lot/0001-50018404/sail-boats/saxby-26-sailboat?spr=true

I'm fairly certain they built more than one. I like it and if I was buying I would not consider resale. I would get rid of that anchor though!
See prior post here; seems like Gary Saxby built but could well be a Kaufman design as per Chris in this thread.

That's a hell of a price drop! You just have to be into runners!
Neat yacht seems well maintained sailed against her in the early 80s Hobarts and offshore series club races but no-one in club racing land is into runners and check stays in 2022 going forward. Can be converted to double swept back spreaders if needed not that big a job - install strong ply gusset bulkheads at the ~27degree angle under the full width of the side decks and tying in to relevant lateral framing down below into the keel floors also ensuring the longitudinal framing is up to it. Keep the original main bulkhead there obviously. Have to do the mast calcs again to ensure all ok. The mast looks like it could be the 2nd one in the boat since the original build - this should be assessed.

Sold for $5500. Had a look Sat. For a DIY a steal. Not being a diy person I was looking at spending $10,000 extra

The draft of 2.4 metres would be a serious limitation in most places. Unless you have access to a travel lift it means it would have to be going to be sold into the metropolitan centers.
