Some well priced yachts starting to appear. If you were planning on selling and make a killing that boat has sailed!
contacted her yesterday, someone is already interested and taking a look today, so may have missed the boat... literally
I love the look of this boat. Ticks all my boxes for my next boat. except for an old engine. Cutter rigged. Hard dodger. Beautiful interior. I'm not a fan of teak decks but it does say they lay on a solid GRP deck.
Unfortunately I'm currently going through an insurance issue after the club moved my boat to a temporary mooring from its berth, came off the mooring, ended up on the beach and now has a damaged keel among other things. Otherwise I'd be trying to sell my cheap boat and look at this one.

sheesh that sucks. Last thing you need is that sort of stuff to deal with.
Ain't this a sexy little thing for sub $20k??

M&W 32's are usually cheaper than that but after perusing the photos there has been a lot of quality fit out work on that vessel and I can see the value. Timber work is first class and that main saloon is interesting! Years ago I was keen on buying one of these. I had one of Ben Lexcen's quarter tonners at the time and have always been a fan but someone told me these did not sail all that well!
New engine makes this a good buy if your prepared to get your hands dirty.

Who designed the Spitfire sailing dinghy? I have a feeling it was a Joe Adams design. Good buy if you happen to have an NS14 rig laying about.

It's interesting to wonder how well they sail. None of them ever won a big regatta back in the hey day of the class, whereas the Currawong, Adams, Defiance, Cavalier, Ebbutt, East Coast, Knoop and Spencer were all on podiums with Endeavour 30s and others also sailing quickly. But if I recall correctly, a couple of the M&Ws were pretty competitive around Sydney HT class racing a little while later, so it may have just been that they were not campaigned as well in their early years. Years ago I used to race against on a modified Defiance and an M & W 32 was the only one of the 10 or so old halves in that series that gave us much trouble.
Given the huge difference that tuning and sailing make, I always tend to think it's impossible to judge a design's performance off just one or two examples unless they are both being sailed at their absolute top level in top level and comparable fleets, and that hasn't been the case with any old half in Oz for many years.
Now I don't want to hear any whinging about how much this will cost to restore! This is a genuine chance to own a great boat for very little money, just some labour.

I dunno...... its gonna need at least $100 worth of metal gleam, just for starters ![]()

As Kylie would say, I can't get this out of my head.
What would be involved in getting it round to Westernport with no motor? I see it has an outboard bracket. Google says it had the keel and rig shortened : does that mean it's not really a half tonner any more?

A $40 container would do the job 4 times!
One for the Top Hat fans in Vico. Quite inexpensive, lists an outboard but one photo shows a inboard prop?

I like the 70's paint job. Looks very original. I thought these were drop keel, so would this have been fixed from the start or modified?

I believe the original Seaway 25 was fixed keel before Peterson designed a drop keel at Tom Stephensons request . The drop keel trailer sailers have an open transom
I think it was the other way around - the Seaway had a lift keel originally, as seen in boats like Ocean Boulevard which may have been the first, and then the fixed keel came later.

Marsude sold on eBay a few years ago for 5 grand. Back on the market after a whole lot of work. At 10 grand that is still a great deal if you would like to get your hands dirty.

Only because one last big rebuild in the offing.
About twice the size of this one.
Another S & S as well.
And Defiance has done everything I wanted it to do, here coming back up the Huon with big SW front approaching and double reef main.

She's a good boat; my family had her for a few years. A pity that the owners didn't get to finish the project. She's a great performer in a breeze and very much a baby version of the famous old first Apollo.
Put my little Cole 23 on the market.... time for the next project/phase
www.boatsonline.com.au/boats-for-sale/ed-view.php?de=274363
Truly turn key, and got a few extra gadgets. Pass the word around
Can't be compared to the other Coles that need painting, hank on headsails, covers, no self-tailing winches, no autopilot, crappy motor, and original interior... she's a mark above the rest
