If anyone watches free range sailing on you tube it appears they are selling their boat!www.boatsales.com.au/boats/details/1969-clansman-30/SSE-AD-7484576/
Here is one that was on this thread a while back, a Brolga in Hobart called Turza or Kurza.
Out the front of the house this morning.

If you are cruising Southern Tasmania, here is the best tip I have.
The Abalone boats fill their quotas often in only 30 days a year so no need to dive bad days.
So if you hear the engines start up even if 0300hrs, get up make your coffee and get on the move.
Regardless of what the BOM says the weather will be excellent for a the next 3 days.
The local Ab boats left yesterday morning early!
$2000 Tophat for sale in Batemans Bay.

Back out front tonight
That was fun.
Question.
At 8;20 on the boat and the following boats one crew member was up at the bow with his legs dangling over.
Why?

Keep the stern out of the water. Light airs downwind some/most boats are faster with weight forward. Helps project sail area as well. You even see the volvo and modern boats with everyone forward in light airs.
Thanks tarquin1
I thought it had something to do with keeping the arse up.
Not a racer myself.
But if I were to take it up I would go for something like the folkboat.

Sailing fast used to be considered good seamanship. Nothing to do with racing. It was all the fisherman and pilot boat captains that got taken on the J's back in the day because they knew how to sail fast. It meant getting to the fish first and getting back into port first to get a better price.
It can mean getting into port before nightfall, missing bad weather or a tidal gate.
Nothing against you. Just saying.
The folk boats are crazy competitive in the UK. One has won the round the island race a few times. They have amazing IRC ratings. Some people spend crazy money on them.

Like this nice one:

That seems like crazy money for a little boat. Even more race preped than that. The idea is to get one as old as possible so you get a better rating. Totally strip it out down below.
Nearly worth finding a another mooring for that one.
Obviously money is not an issue.
This one is actually free. Apparently now salvaged. Still a great design and if you have access to a good secondhand motor I reckon it's a good project.

There has been a price drop on this Carter 33. It was good value before but now is downright cheap.

Wow, why hasn't that sold long ago? Looks sweet as.....
Clansman 30. Nice little boat. Needs some Metal Gleam and a real anchor.

If I was to go serious cruising this would be my choice of boat. Fast enough and cheap. No insurance just good seamanship.

That is a really good stamp of a yacht and the right price.
The ad says it has a 20 hp outboard. Would that be poking through a hole in the cockpit sole??
For those looking for a good project
Free S&s 30ft sailing yacht,

Please advise where you plan on cruising with this so I can avoid the area with my fully insured vessel to avoid complications. There's enough uninsured heaps of junk floating around our waterways at present. Good seamanship comes with a seaworthy vessel, this vessel requires money to be spent on it to fit the criteria of being seaworthy hence the price tag.

Seller says it spent more than a week under water.
Does anyone know if the S&S 30 are pure fibre or balsa / ply cores?

Or a buyer could pay a premium for one of YouTube notoriety.

Boats that age would only get 3rd party insurance anywhere in Australia. I have 3rd party coverage for the same reason.
