Lovely yacht .. .. but when I pointed to something I had for sale, the thread got pulled within an hour!

The "Interesting Boats For Sale" thread is a proxy way of doing it.
You may be right. I don't think that that was the intention when this thread kicked off though. There is no way to actually track the legitimacy of the posts unfortunately, but I must say "interesting" certainly seems to be a very broad subject.
If the yachts owner posted the advert above then I'd have to agree with Mutton Bird.
Didn't intend to circumvent any rules posting it and don't think I have. If I saw any boat offered for sale that I have come across on this site I would find it interesting and I suspect so would many others.

ha ha, didn't read your post that carefully. If you want to track the legitimacy of my post why don't you send me a pm and we can chat about it. Do you think i am a bot controlled by Southace?
interesting
adjective: interesting
arousing curiosity or interest; holding or catching the attention.
Of course you well realise that Toph is the Seabreeze site originator and hence obviously the moderator for the forums. A basic search will bring up his recent re-posting of the forum rules.

Its not my cricket set... Im just helping to make sure we all play nicely. I try (prefer) not to moderate you lot as mostly it is not needed. Sometimes I get it wrong.

I'm not suggesting you circumnavigated the rules. I know you are not the owner of Icon. I was referring to all posts that are linked to a sales page couldn't be verified as not an attempt to circumvent the forum rules.
As for a bot controlled by Southace ![]()

Great response as expected. Have never seen you get it wrong. The 1977 1/4 tonner yacht I am currently 1/2 life refurbishing (the 13th and last...) I got off here last October - it was posted as "....for free, if not taken up by November it will be scrapped............" or very similar I can't remember..............so it was not for sale, just for rescue by someone who could, with appropriate help obviously............note that legally disposing boats these days costs $5k or more..............insurance for 1977 yachts is nearly impossible..............I achieved 3rd party on it but will need a survey for comprehensive insurance during planned September slipping............cripes saving yachts must be a phobia..............

What a bargain! I seen this on Aussie marine salvage squad on the TV. Live the dream.

We love you for that!
Wondering if you got a shot of his bow roller and integrated chain ratchet ?
A
Nup. Not keen on anchors on bow rollers on Currawongs in particular. That's a hell of a lot of chain in that anchor locker as well! Not set up for pleasant sailing that's for sure.
This post reminded me of the weight I have at the bow of Spindrift.
Until recently I had three anchors and two complete sets of rode there.

I like it. The hooka gear and all the other stuff make this a damn good deal. All the hard stuff is done.

yeah, good one!
So, how is the refurbish going? Would love to see a thread showing your progress and before and after pics.
Refurb is going well thanks - the boat has good bones and is well worth the effort but it is not a 5 minute job. First photo below is a "before" shot - many days cleaning effort and taking unneeded items to the tip. Photos 2-4 are current ones - not a lot of difference except for new bow mooring cleat and roller, outboard on, main sale on boom with cover etc. Have got the sails back to 2 mains, 3 jibs, 4 kites including an asymm off a 16ft skiff. Photo 5 shows new tiller and extension, bottom 1/2 of sail board wave mast for deck mounted bow prodder. Trying to decide if put a new larger cabin on like the last scan, or just put cabin top sliding hatch and companionway in the present cabin, also opening up the bridge deck more with bigger lid and companionway slide in the aft face of it. Centre cabin winch will move to the side - have got another Barlow 16 to match it the other side. Will install a bow anchor well. Keeps me off the streets.

Loco - I was well aware of it from JOG racing in late 70s and early 80s so jumped on it when it came up. What happened to JOG racing.

Wow, I just bought a 40ft blue water cruiser and have been stressing about doing the chainplates. Your project puts it in perspective with the positive attitude.
Ok great thanks, all the best with the chainplates. My biggest hurdle to overcome is to stop adding items onto the to-do list and just complete the items which are already on it. The other major task which could have added above was to fill in the bow concave waterlines to straighten them - probably a bridge too far as regards effort, time, cost and value.

Good luck with that!! ![]()

Big solid Peter Cole ketch, similar to the Nantucket Island designs but stretched out.
The photos of exterior dont do her justice.

I'm surprised at the lack of furniture aft of the saloon. Teak in the cockpit may clean up. Shame to see boats like this just left for long periods. Makes mine seem more of an exceptional buy!

You know it kind of breaks my heart when I see that as I used to race in the same
active IOR 3/4 tonne fleet in PP. From memory the SS 34 s were represented by Aquila, Eastern Morning, Western Morning and Sinnerman. I see someone has rescued the half tonner farr 'vitamin C ' that used to give the 3/4 fleet what for.
seemingly restored her and now up for sale.

At least the boat appears to be original condition so you don't need to undo previous owners amateur repairs.

Advertised on Facebook as well with lots of interesting comments. I'm fairly sure it has epoxy filler and then paint over the alloy. After the experience my mate has had with his Cole 42, stripping it back to bare alloy and leaving it bare I should imagine this boat would come out just as good. Great buy for someone not scared of getting dirty hands.
