Certainly is. It's going to need that one buyer out there willing to pay that much!

I am not in the market anymore, but I love your posts.
Do you have an opinion of what this boat is worth/what it will sell for?

Given that it is a buyers market at the moment and will probably become more so, that looks like it's sailing performance is likely to be somewhat lacklustre I would suggest that perhaps there are other examples that are more worthy.

Or the short answer............yes, avoid it.

Been keeping close eye on this interesting boats for sale thread. Ended up buying this Trimaran for 4k.
Now comes the "how do I get it back from WA" part ??

Take a few weeks off and sail it over the top end.

That's the plan (I only have about 1 days sailing experience) so thinking ?? it might even take a few months!

Sydney. Neglected 47 foot centre cockpit aluminium for $50,000. Looks like a hell of a hell lot of boat for the money, but looks like it may have taken in a lot of water possibly submerging the engine. Leaking from the teak decks?

This is a ridiculously good buy! Keeping with the alloy theme.

No doubt a sturdy little vessel and an absolute bargain ! The trailer has to be worth the asking price of the of the whole shebang.
As an aside it would be interesting to know how much she weighs

I reckon it would be lighter than plywood. But I reckon she would be noisy down below!

I reckon it would be a great boat too but I have my doubts about the galvanized swing keel (dissimilar metals etc) but if not kept on a mooring it would probably be OK with regular checking and maintenance.

Could be noisy below but in Queensland we usually bed down in the cockpit.

As said, buy the trailer for $500, get the boat for free. Very tempting!! The Hartley TS 16 is probably Hartley's most successful design.

If it was just down the road I would own it but picking it up from Tassie could cost $5,000.

This is an interesting racer for sale in Hobart yachthub.com/list/yachts-for-sale/used/sail-monohulls/fred-barrett-richardson-11m-a-real-weapon-performance-plus/230068

When you see it in the flesh it is quite narrow for the length as she is 11m long but with only a 2.4 beam

"The sailing dream is dead." I sorta feel sorry for him but he probably should have done some homework first!!

He ran it aground. With keel up that should have been unlikely. With keel down you can do a lot of damage. Potential buyers should check that out.

That's no Noelex. It may be a modified Noelex hull (although I thought the 30s were imported so how is there a bare hull in Oz) but it's not a Noelex deck and I don't think it's a Noelex keel or rudder. The skeg is not from a N 30.

Spot on about the skeg. Noelex 25s had one but the 30s did not.
There were a few 30s built in Australia at Goolwa in South Australia. I think Austral had the molds at one stage.

Lovely boat. Good to see boats this size with no anchor winch and a decent anchor well. Perkins a bonus. Some of the timber interior is a bit different! Needs the reefing lines back to the cockpit and an electric mainsail halyard winch on the rear of the cabin but I could live with it.

Good to see boats this size with no anchor winch and a decent anchor well. Why is that good? To me it says the boat was never cruised short handed. Could also be that the design is difficult to fit an anchor winch which can be arranged to properly feed the chain into a locker.
