Yeah I had a great day. Was up at Peggie's at about 10. The tied was a bit high so I had a windsurf for a couple of hours , had lunch then kited on low tied for a couple of hours. !! Wind was solid, stayed a consistent 25 knt. I'm wrecked, just sitting in the lounge having a beer now !!![]()
anyone wanna come camping, kiting, surfing and exploring further south this weekend...?
both NE & SE forecast so a really good chance to checkout different spots for different directions.
pics and report to be posted.![]()
Good luck in your quest Matt . Im thinking of trying out Shoalhaven heads rivermouth on Sunday, if that SE that's forecast stays true it probably wont be too bad there. I know that southerlies aren't as strong down there as up at the Illawarra but for some reason when it goes SE there just as strong down there as up here.
Edit : BTW had a kite at Werri this arv. Gerroa was $hit Berry beach was $hit . On way back noticed that Werri had some decent wind there , must have been because the wind was a bit more north than normal . Wasn't too bad
yeah, last sunday was SE and it really came in... had my best kite in bloody ages.
today was a hoot as well, 20kn and some really fun banks out the front.
Gunna make you guys jealous. Just had 4 days in Gnarloo. Now I can see what all the fuss is about WA. Recuperating now, in Gerro as legs and body could only take so much. Was possible to kite for up to 7 hours each day.
dont trust wind forecasts... nothing worth taking a photo of really. ![]()
two days floating about waiting for the wind to kick in and nothing, didnt even look like coming in.
had a nice surf early this morning though. and a nice kite this arvo back at home.
and i know what you mean about WA Tony, I went there for a couple of weeks at the start of the year and I started to hate the wind...
its just that consistent, and the tiny grains of sand just get everywhere.
did you get good waves in gnarloo?
Hey Matt, yes but not big. 4/5 foot and slightly less each day. However, even at that size was pleasant....very keen to return.
is the bellambi wind report here on sea breeze accurate in a southerly? its been showing green arrows all weekend...
or is it on a hill or something?![]()
Bellambi graph is very accurate for southerlies, very inline with what happens at peggies. I made it down to the heads Sunday . It was 10 knots and pi$$ing down rain. I sat at the entrance huddled under me kite talking $hit with me mate for an hour waiting for the wind to pick up , then packed up everything wet and went home. That was my camping trip for the weekend ![]()
any of you lads heading down to the bws kite clinic this weekend?![]()
Got my name down. Hope to get there tho. Might have to go shopping with the wife. Pfft
Just had a look at the website and it says for Sydney. TBA for the date - due to bad weather.
Which one are you going to?
Ben reckons they are canning the Sydney one on Saturday, as the forecast looks sh't.
Obviously, they hope the mid south coast will work.
SE wind is not a good situation for that part of the coast.
There is some chance but "heaps" (weather issues) will depend on if it's a goer or ??? ...
bom is saying 15-20 tomorrow, and 20-25 on sunday.
i'm not super hopeful for either days really, but if it does come i reckon the 7mile stretch will probably get it best...
oh well i will head regardless.![]()
yeah the wind was up and down all arvo...
Ben got into the instructional around 11 and that was pretty much a run down for all levels on the 'fundamentals' of wave kiting...
if you've seen the 'Smack' dvd, very similar to the topics and content in that.
he launched one of his kites a couple of times and talked about kite positioning and unhooked basics...
the wind was starting to kick in so i was a bit distracted watching one of the kiters having fun. ben wrapped up and everyone pumped up.
most of the fellas put up kites around the 8-9m mark. i went my 10 and felt pretty underpowered.
waves were tiny but clean.
was a good day, ben and his crew are a great bunch of blokes... ![]()
hopefully wind next weekend for merimbula classic. ![]()
![]()
![]()
nah, i didnt give any of the bws gear a go...
i felt it just wouldnt of been fair testing conditions.
hopefully next week down at merimbula.![]()
Well the past two days have been windy, yayyyy.
yesterday was blowing 20+ but waves were pretty small.
today was stronger and some 3ft+ surf coming through???
some nice boost out there for the twinnie! ![]()
a couple of pics from yesty.
get ready for tomorrow lads.![]()
![]()
Nice work !! Easties was pumping today , 25 knots good swell , can't get much better. BWS boys were up so got to ride the noise pro all Arvo, pretty stoked with how it went. Hopefully tomorrow is on as well.
Yo Gus, I am of the same opinion.
Had the last 2 days flying the 10, 8, 6 in a huge variety of wind conditions and to be honest they performed better than i expected.
Takes a few turns to understand where the design/concept and energy of the kite come from, it does become an extension of your arm.
Matt,
chill MF k er,
6/8' boat harbour
25 kts cross shore
no barrels but good walls, 250 mts lefts
I know where you were...
was the day of the last 8 months...
Hell yeah, sounds sick...
Boat harbour, I don't think I know where that is. Out the front of shellharbour marina sort if area?
I was just mowing the lawn out the front, couldn't be effed with the gusts and poleys at gerroa...![]()
Hey Matt,
I did worst than mowing, completely blew Sunday... sometimes thats the way it goes. As you know, whatever work you do, it gets in the way...
My previous message was a brief from Leo off Cronulla.
Hurting...
Was down Ulladulla way all week with work (surfing event
)???
It was light on tuesday so got out for an hour or so.
But yesterday was awesome wind, now waves though.
Mr Burra was down there for some camera action, here's a few from the 300 or so that were taken??? ![]()
Everyone else, throw some pics up???. everyone has a camera on them pretty much all the time (mobile phone), so show us what/where/how ya kiting???.
Pics are better than words???
lol.![]()
