Finally.....

A session in all this crap weather for kiting.

The usual crew at a well known Illawarra northern suburbs reef. I actually saw a couple of head high waves that 5/6 of us salivated on.

It wasn't a long session but "beggars can't be choosy"...

Finally some joy.

good to hear...
forecasts are contradicting themselves for this weekend, in fact no where in the country is going to have decent wind for the long weekend...
(except cairns, but they dont count cos no waves there... and wa, too far for a four day break)

Lightening does strike.

F..uck 2 days in a row.

For me the last 2 days have been the best kiting since Gnarloo, last october.

Same Illawarra reef but a few more body's today. Was fun. Better on the incoming tide in this time. Funny place, has it's own mind..!!!

Gotta say, it's not the most consistent place but when it's on, hard to beat for mechanical wave riding.

Happy crew this arvo, for sure...

Hey Matt, Yes this weekend does look crap... Bummer.

Mate loven the RPM'S ! Got 14 and 10 in the 2012 and a 7m in the 2013.

Rode the 10m yesterday in 40KM gustin to 60KM. Pretty over powered but Huge floaty boosts!

Couldn say a bad thing about it. YEW

Score a sweet 2 hour session on my own today.

Only about 18 knots but clean cross shore and a nice head high swell

what size bar are you using on the 14?

23 inch bar with 27m lines in lighter wind and in stronger using the 20 inch bar with 25m lines.

Find that on the smaller bar it turns faster and its way more responsive.

You riding the RPM also?

yep, just got onto them. really liking the 9m. heaps of fun to loop and fly. mad wind range too, 17kn one day then 35kn another. had the 14m out for the first time yesterday and found it quite slow to turn. using the same bar as the 9m @ 19inches 20m lines. found the 14 had good bottom end but with that setup my core 17m turned faster.
might have to see if kitepower has a longer bar in stock.

Anyone else get on the early morning NE'er today?

I started rigging at 8:30 in 15 knots but by the time I hit the water it was +20 knots and pouring rain. Spent an hour kiting in mad conditions wind squals and solid waves

Had so much fun and scored some awesome cross shore waves before it all ended as quick as it started,

Even scored an afternoon surf when the wind went off shore

Glad you got out Mini , I got on the water at Warilla at 7.30am , had around 23 knts started out in the pond to suss out wind direction and strength for 10 mins then hit the beach. Kited out there till 9 , wind was quite onshore NE ,not much wave riding but heaps of jumping. Then went to Primbee for a flatwater sess and pretty much went through what fingerbone described. So glad I got out early , I think that the wind went NNE after I left Warilla ,I should have stayed. I must have just missed ya Mini . Was great to get a decent NE this time of year . Like ya said Stoked

or any other primo wave spots for this crappy (westerlies) winter wind pattern...?
its been waaaayyyyyyy too long for me...

You will have to learn how to ride in the lake and put boots on your surfboard.
Then you'll have more time riding in the westerlies

Hi,

I would love to join someone for a session (s) tomorrow. Especially if there is going to be waves and strong wind Originally from Cape Town and just moved to Sydney. I am in the St. Leonards area. I've got my 6 meter kite ready for action

I can try meet someone anywhere in Sydney, but if you are driving from St. Leonards area or nearby tomorrow... would be much appreciated. I will be buying a car in the next month

Had such a good session at Wanda on Saturday. My first kite session in Sydney. Strong wind (25 -30knots) and good size waves - reminded me a bit of Cape Town! Thanks Mark for the ride! Ols, we did not meet up - but i will definitely give you a buzz when I am that side again with Mark for a kite session.
