Maybe Picker should throw some Christmas cheer in the form of $500.00 into the SLSC kitty as a thankyou for rescuing him?
My understanding is he welcome to be rescued any time ;-)
personally, i think down winder crew blasting through swimmers/surfers, and nearly dropping kites on kids and dog walkers near shore line do a far worse job of bringing the sport into disrepute, then what your saga has entailed.
Absolutely. See more & more of the City to Trigg crew ignoring the declared no go zone bw Brighton & Contacios.
Loop out & back in around the Amphitheatre area or risk another Mullaloo battle.
sir ROWDY
Go and get a life, leave responsible kiters to enjoy their sport as they see fit.
Suggest you might be in the wrong sport go and try golf!!!

I have a life and would like to keep it that way.
p.s. "Responsible" in my opinion would mean not getting in a situation like that to begin with. Everyone is free to do as they wish, I'm just of the opinion that stuff like this is real bad look for a sport as small as our own, we are at the bottom of the food chain after all.
Hey
Just keep out of the flagged areas!!

SLSWA
CamSLSWA,
Kudos to your SAR crew, job well done.
As *responsible kitesurfers* we all keep out of flagged (and yellow buoy) areas - and make sure others do as well.
Keep up your great work - its appreciated by all.
And here is the problem.
Crew are deliberately ignoring the flags @ Cottesloe & North Cottesloe. I was watching the rescue from Cottesloe SLSC on Saturday arvo & @ the same time watching crew come inside of the groyne at Cott on a number of occasions. We've got SLSA "reminding" us to stay clear but no one seems to be listening.
I've spent quite a bit of time in Cottesloe recently (not kiting) and have been constantly amazed and disappointed at the number of kiters coming inside and way too close to the beach.
Thanks to the SLSC I involved - three IRB's got sent out to rescue Picker.
I went for a down winder on Saturday with a bunch of lads who dont normally/never do the City-Trigg run.
There was ~10 of us.
I know the rules and I guess I assumed they did too.
Once we went around the City Beach rocks, it dawned quite quickly these lads had no idea about the "Zones"
They were jumping close to shore at Citys ect- might be the lads you were referring to.
I did my best to tell them while we were kiting that its a no go, but yeah... pretty hard when there is one of you and 9 others doing there own thing.
Moral of the story, people still are not aware of the rules- for what ever reason.
If you're kiting with new mates, just ask if they are aware of the zones.
