Isn't ivermectin suggested as a prophylaxis?

It is. According to the trials thoroughly effective. Works all through the stages of disease progression.

800 health workers in Argentina dosed and 200 not. Of the 800 zero infection. 57 % of the un-dosed got the disease.

It is a fascinating medicine. Derived from bacteria found in a soil sample next to a gold course in Japan.
It has literally been taken by billions worldwide to combat tropical parasites and viruses including dengue. Wish I'd known about it last year when I had Ross River!
The mechanisms that ivermectin employs are explained by the doctor in this video lecture:

And it's off patent so cheap as chips!

She won't be making too many friends amongst the powers that be. I've watched a couple of her videos. Shame there are not many more like her. Too many people frightened of putting their salaries at risk.

Why not hedge your bets?

Get one or two jabs that significantly reduce your chance of contracting the disease as well as reducing the severity if you do get it. Then use ivermectin to assist getting over it?

So Vic in lock down again, it's ok though tennis can continue, women's footy can continue but remember people of Victoria we've done it before so we can do it again and again and again and so on. As long as the rules that Dan applies at the time are followed like good little sheep that we are. No way in hell am I taking a controlling drug just because scientists say so.
Do some research peeps, there is definitely strange **** happening

Why do you think they're pushing the asymptomatic transmission and positive PCR test = infectious case angle so hard? Can't lock down healthy people without a "good" reason.

Can someone explain to me what nefarious plan Dan Andrews is enacting with this lockdown? I thought it was about containing the outbreak of a potentially deadly disease that we currently have no immunity to.

Na?ve? Maybe .

But, I can't see the sinister plot

There's no plot. The lockdowns just do more damage than the virus could.
The virus numbers are easy to tabulate and readily publicised.
The lockdown numbers require substantially more effort.
A seperate search for each of the following and more.
Missed cancer treatments, vaccinations and other common life saving treatments.
Increased child rape and abuse.
Increased domestic violence.
Collapsed businesses and impoverished families.
Sweeping degradation of civil liberties.
A loss of faith, and metal health issues. Anger.
And a myriad of other misfortunes that in a normal world may linger just below the surface for an entire lifetime but with a lockdown catalyst are brought to the surface.
And then realise that the horrific destruction Covid caused in Sweden wasn't actually enough to create a notable annual variation in their all cause mortality, so all of this suffering is for almost nothing. And what percentage of the population needs to become infected for herd immunity, because Sweden's already at well over 40%

There's so much more, but I get so upset every time someone suggests that it's ok to let a few more kids get raped because kids get raped everyday anyway, that I just can't think straight.

Are you kidding? He is doing this to prevent people hugging their children/grandchildren. He has sent some so crazy that they moved states! Presumably after breaking that grandfather/father grandchild/child bond.

Other than that, I do feel sorry for the Victorians. They have gone through a lot with lockdowns and its unfortunate. I hope that we as a nation move to remote quarantine facilities, at least for the active cases, but our PM is dead in the water and letting the states deal with it.

Holy crap.
Blaming rape and domestic abuse on lockdowns is making excuses for these people and is absolutely insane.
I blame the rapists and abusers.
They need their hands chopped off if they can't keep them to themselves.

Missed cancer treatments etc...people are still able to go get their treatments during lockdowns. They miss them out of uneducated fear, thinking just stepping out of the door they will catch the virus, which is an extremely low chance in Australia. If they took the right precautions with PPE etc, they would be fine.

Has someone got you wound up about this, because I can't imagine that stats are available for that sort of thing. At least showing the difference between normal rates and when in lockdown.

Ultimately, if you are in an area where a lockdown is going to increase rates of this, there is an underlying problem. Its not like just normal people suddenly do this when they are prevented from going outside for a week or two.

To me this just sounds like a questionable bit of "fact" that someone is using to argue against lockdowns that are hard, but are intended to protect people.

Normalising political incompetence, double standards and hypocrisy.

It is part of long, ongoing and multi-faceted plan.

If it wasn't for the plan being delivered with such incompetence, double standards and hypocrisy for the last 2,000 years I suspect it would have achieved its aims by now.

How about a lockdown to stop the spread of a contagious virus.

Dan Andrews is doing a great job. Mark McGowan even better.

when a Melbourne couple dropped their kids off with their grandparents and went and suicided it wasn't because the lockdowns crushed their business and their future and any lingering hope they had left. It was because they had mental health issues, issues which may have bubbled below the surface long enough for things to get better.
I'm not suggesting that lockdown is Causing more than the numerous widely accepted problems. I'm attempting to explain that the exacerbation of other problems it causes is greater than the toll of the most lethal virus in our lifetime.

Trying to highlight the massive growth in opportunities afforded to these ****-ups by the lockdowns.

It's not as simple as just take your kid to the doc it'll be fine. There's a regime of forced testing and a policy that allows children to be removed from parents if either has a cold, all backed by the threat of five years imprisonment and $66,000 fines for non compliance.

So do you think the US and the UK have a better solution than in Australia? Just let the virus naturally spread out in the population so we dont have any other issues caused by lockdowns? Do you think it should be treated like any other flu virus?

What is your solution?

No bad situations just bad people eh.

And who's fault is it that they're afraid to go for health treatments or diagnosis -- you don't think the catastrophizing and fear-mongering of the media and the government hasn't got something to do with it? Despite the FACT that they're more likely to die in a car crash on the way to the doctor...

Perhaps two PPE's just to be safe, and a third to make really sure

Lockdowns are and will continue to be proven to be worse than not locking down.

PS. You're using Sweden to bolster your case? Didn't you trash me when I said they were on the right track?

Well, 600 000 cases in a population of about 10M equals 40% doesn't it?
