Can anyone confirm what the A+ fuselage tail setting is without a shim...?

Is it -1* or 0*...?

Doesn't seem to be anything in the Armstrong literature...

Polycarbonate Pro Shims, allowing more than 5 angle settings at 0.5 degree increments, from -1 degree to + 1.5 degrees for the tweakers out there.

That would indicate that stock is -1

Thanks Hilly.
That makes sense...
Now that you put it that way it seems obvious!!

Pretty sure in that real water sports review in the first page of this thread he says it is set at -1.

So there is no shim to go -2 with the A+ Fuse?

Not that I have seen.

KD Maui has some armstrong shims, that you can just download and print. Looks like two of them are negative. However it dose not say what the angle is.
How nice, that they are for free!

Link?

You can buy on this page, and he also has a link at the bottom of this page for the file... except as a new member i can't post links :-(
So try kdfoils.myshopify at dotcom
then go to
Shims - KDFOILS (myshopify.com)
then go to page 2 and find 'shims' to either buy or at the bottom of the page is a link to the file(s)

I've gone through the process of upgrading my HS850,HS1050,HS1250 and HS1850 along with 72cm and 100cm masts to be A+. Using the jig kit. It was a painless upgrade and basically well detailed in the Armstrong video. Only additional tip would be to thoroughly clean all the fittings after the upgrade is complete to ensure a smooth assembly and disassembly of the foil.

I upgraded all of mine a few weeks back. Just went to run the barrel nut on the top of my 1850 and it was off a few mm. I have no idea how I f*cked that up. I just filled it with some high quality marine epoxy filler so I can re-drill it on center to fit. I hope I don't find any more F-ups

I upgraded my masts and wings using the jig as well. The video instruction made it easy even for me. Just go slowly and make sure all parts are fully fitted before drilling. Happy with the result.

Drilled my 1850. Took my time and used water for lube. The larger 8 mm drill did tend to catch even with light pressure. I did start by going backwards. Maybe should have done a bit more. It broke off some of the carbon weave at the edge of the hole on the surface but that came out once the taper was put in. feels more solid

My 232 older tail does not have a great fit with the new A+ fuse. A+ fuse appears to be smaller dia as tail hangs out on both sides a bit. Not sure on impact of this?

Also just upgraded my 1850.
drilled the mast no problems...

then same thing happened with the top of the 1850 foil where the barrel nut goes - 1 to 2mm off Centre.
no idea how that happened either - especially after drilling the mast no problem!

just opened the overlapping side of the "off Centre" hole with the M8 drill & it seems to fit ok now. Just looks very slightly "non-factory"...oh well.

Now that i think of it - is it really necessary to be doing this upgrade?
I suspect not to be honest...

think I'll be leaving my 1250 just as is for now...

We just posted two videos going over the Armstrong foil range, this first is specifically for prone surf foiling, the second for wing foiling:

When drilling out the A+ third hole in other foils it is pretty easy to have the hole drift off center with a hand drill. I would use a drill press or run the medium size bit from the other side if I was doing it again.

Do you use the kit? Found it very easy, pilot hole though the hollow bolt with the other bolt done up. Everything lined up perfectly.
