Looking forward to AWSI 2025 next week and for once there might actually be wind for the event.
I'm looking forward to getting my hands on every imaginable parawing for side by side comparisons.
Hoping there's ultralight 4m and smaller traditional wings being released.
Excited to see the AFS booth, fingers crossed for any new tubercle foil that comes out.
Maybe Sunova shows up too?
Anyone else going or at least hopeful for AWSI stuff this year?
I'm planning to be there... although I threw my back out in the gorge when I was there earlier this month so if there's no wind and my back feels like hell, I might cancel my flight/hotel. AWSI is how I got hooked on AFS two years ago (Silk 1050).

can Armie get a parawing ready in time? ![]()
Of course PW's will be a huge focus of interest...but I'm also wondering if wing development might show us something to counter/stave-off their supposed demise.
What's next on the foil front is always interesting too...
But alas, if I were betting...I would say foil assist/electric options will take up a lot of the oxygen at the waterfront.
I have been holding off on buying a pwing stash belt until the upcoming AWSI. The ozone looks great but I think the pocket is a little bit small for my big 5.5m Dwing. I also don't like that it has a clip to hold it around your waste, doesn't look secure. The latest offering from north looks like a swing and miss to me as it requires you to roll the pwing up like a burrito and stuff it in, which seems to make stowing more complicated instead of easier.
I am hoping for something with a big opening and a strap to compress it down and lock it in. Will be interesting to see what is offered. If there's nothing too interesting I will just get the ozone stash belt.
Also super interested to see all the new v2 pwings being released ![]()

I can confirm that the 5m PR fits in the pocket. Takes a little scrunching though.
I can definitely vouch for the clip being strong enough. I've been harnessed in really strong conditions and never had it unlatch or break.
There's definitely new belts coming that will be great. The Ozone belt checks all the boxes for me except upwind comfort. I've gone upwind in some rage conditions but am wearing a harness with the ozone belt over it right now for big days.
I'm getting the feeling this is going to be the most exciting AWSI I've been to! Lots of hype in a lot of different directions.

Is the event open to the public?
F one/Manera will soon be releasing an interesting stash belt. Apparently it offers far more support as a harness than Ozone according to my F one dealer (who also sells the Ozone belt). Check Maxime Chablozs Instagram for a glimpse:

For the new Axis products, any ideas on what these new products could be, Front Wing, Stab, Fuselage, Mast ????
I'm not stoked on the side stash designs. They look like tangle and batten damage just waiting to happen.
I bet Axis and many others will have new MA foils dropping. The parawing revolution will hopefully bring a focus back to MA foils!
Very interesting watching Parawings evolve so fast, definitely getting one here once it warms up and the sea breezes kick in. A few here have battled through the learning curve here in winter, can't say it looked much fun in our cold gusty winter winds. Looking forward to seeing what's new at AWSI

What do you call MA and why do you hope that PW will bring focus back on MA? I'm asking because I started parawinging recently. Mostly on a Sabfoil WRP1075 (AR=11). It is very easy to get on foil but I suspect that this foil is not easy while on foil in cross onshore conditions at the North sea (Netherlands). I also tested a more MA front wing very shortly and that seemed to be significantly easier. Does this make sense?

No it is not a public event. You can join yourself for not too much money somehow. Or you can get aligned with a brand who will give you a pass into the event.

Pictures of the new surf line of front wings and stabs have been leaked and the huge 1700 pump wing has featured in instagram vids.
The new DW race wings and fuselage were a great success in the recent M2O so I guess they might be released to market.

HA foil development for the downwind crew was kinda surprising because I think it's still a pretty niche market. These HA foils became more forgiving to average Joes trying to downwind in poor conditions and it made the sport more accessible which is super cool. In downwind paddling you commonly rig a foil that you know you can consistently paddle up and survive the run on.
I think of MA foils as having an AR of about 8. Historically, I've found a lot of them to be pretty slow and either beginner or very wave (stalling to stay on the wave) oriented with very few offerings that were super efficient. The AFS Silk foils really changed that. Several sizes can hang in the downwind realm and push performance in the turn, emphasizing proper positioning over forgiveness from glide.
With the parawing in play I see no justification to rig a foil to survive the dead zones on my runs like a paddler does. I rig for the most fun in my session. If I come off foil? No big deal, just redeploy the sail and I'm back to it. Is it a known bad section on a DW run? Perfect, I milk the best turns on my 8 AR foil and then when I reach the bad zones I can just redeploy the sail and pass through the crap and pack away when it's nice again.
Most of us are hunting for the most fun, the biggest smiles, the best memories on the water. I think that a lot of people get that from MA foils with a midlength easier than they do with HA foils on a longboard. As such, the parawing just ripened the market for efficient DW focused MA foils, something never before pushed.
Bonus: I'm always stoked for all the beginner riders who hop on nice MA foils and get massive progression quickly. The way the MA foils turn seems more intuitive for many and allows people to move with more confidence. The most shocking foil I've seen with this is Silk 850 which I think most people consider to be this ultra high performance legendary surf foil. But... the number of people who jump on that thing and scream "I got my first tack!" "I just linked the most gybes of my life!" "This feels so much better!" is impressive.
I think it's time for a MA revolution!

I like the look of this stash belt, the bar holder is a nice touch and it looks like they have thought about the process for stashing it.

this looks good
That stash belt from North just does not interest me at all! It requires one specific method of stowing that really just makes it slower and more complicated than the normal pocket style we currently have. I have watched Dylan's videos about his roll up burrito stash method but he is probably the only person I've seen using that method. I was hoping for something that makes stowing easier rather than making it more difficult!!

Like the fact it is a proper harness and will be good for paddle outs.

That is a side loader too. I have Sheps clip.

I think of MA foils as having an AR of about 8.
...
I think it's time for a MA revolution!
There are much more variables in play than just the AR. What works for one rider / condition could be next to unusable for another one in their spot. The weight of the rider, how steep and how fast are the waves, do you go primarily downwind or is the wind perhaps from the side, meaning you carve against the wind half of the time, etc. Everything matters.
A higher aspect foil can also be super agile, ready to turn even snappier than your conditions would actually require / benefit from. For example, a MA foil would not help me to enjoy and milk such small conditions any better than the 10.5 AR foil that I am using here. What defines the feel of the foil is not that directly related to the AR as some might think. Conditions matter, rider's weight matters.
I agree, every spot and rider has different needs. HA foils can be extremely agile but they don't move the same way that MA foils do. I'm not saying worse, it's just different. I prefer the way an MA foil moves with their size vs span and pitch management over HA foils every time. That's why it's so exciting to have the parawings, it gives development options for MA foils which is really cool. I feel like the Silk was the first big breakthrough. The Nomad (just a touch higher around 9ish depending on size) gets tons of love from riders. Now, initial ride reports on the Flux gear have been pretty amazing with people reporting big breakthroughs.
So, I'm excited to see the new MA development. As they become more efficient and more user friendly it just gives new options to those of us who want to ride them.
Hearing KT will be introducing dedicated DW foils. Apparently they are named "Solus".
Anybody have more info on sizing , AR etc?
Hopefully AWSI brings longer masts, carbon fuse and DW foils!
Code is releasing the X line, an 8 AR foil.
Appletree dropped a new adjustable tuttle box that they want the industry to change over to.
AFS brought some new wings that look really nice.
Axis and Frank teamed up for a parawing board but it wasn't on site when I was there.
I got set up with a demo Enduro 800 which I parawinged for 90 minutes. Great addition to the enduro lineup, more accessible than the 700 and more playful than the 900.
Hopefully enough wind on site later this week to try a few other items!

Nice one Bwalnut! Thanks for the early update, keep them coming ![]()
Super keen to see the axis x frank mid length, please post some pics of that when if you get a chance. ![]()
This afternoon was probably really good at AWSI with real on water demos happening. Fingers crossed it blows tomorrow so I can grab a few different things and smash around on them.
