My 5m Smik is also 2.24kg.
So far the only 5m that felt lighter (didnt weight it) is the Slingshot V3

Have you tried the BRM Clouds, they are super light like their kites.
But if any breeze holding them up does it matter to most of us?
That is heavy my 5m weighs about 2kg
Ok :)
Was not talking about any specific wing weight, just meant that even a heavy wing is pretty light so impacts from handles should not be a problem.
I certainly notice the weight of a wing when riding downwind on swell. Light is right in that situation. When a wave breaks on you it can have disadvantages. Fine line ![]()
Haven't weighed the new Unit myself but the factory quotes 2050 grams for the standard 4m. D Lab 4m is quoted at 1750 grams. Sam.
anyone got a new unit yet care to feedback.. is it all about the new handles?
Given they screw on I expect it will be possible to DIY your own flexible handles

Sorry missed your post Warwick. No I haven,t tried them. I live in Europe and unfortunately BRM doesn't ship our way. Pitty because I would love to try one.Personally I think profile is way more important as weight and from helping testing windsurf sails in the past I know you can make a proper "heavy" design feel light and or a light design feel heavy when done wrong, but when you are flagging the wing a heavier wing will drop quicker at slower gliding speed.
@Relapse: it might be possible but you need reinforce the strut to fix them on. Would be a fun project with an older wing and a couple of toilet/bath room wall grips :)
I'd love someone to review the aluula wing. I've got a 6m echo I'm looking to replace. Wondering if I should get a 6m aluula to go with a 4 or 4.5m or go 5.5 and 4m.
Wider range would mean I could go further apart, but 5.5 could do as my big wing IF it's as grunty as a 6m, and I could stay real powered up on 20knot days and flyyyy. Never having experienced different wings I'm not 100% sold in the "it's as good as another wing a size up."
here are some weights of common wings.
they used a calibrated weight.

When do the new Units arrive in the US?
They say they are already in line to be unloaded off the ship...
So maybe June 2023-ish.
JK
One shop told me they were getting a shipment in mid/late Jan
Another shop told me Feb - which would probably push to March for standard layup and probably later for DLab
Safe to say nobody really knows with the current supply chain
anyone tried a Unit yet? (non Dlab)
im about to pull the trigger on a new board and new wings...my "local" shop has a a few new Units coming in next week that i could buy this week along with the new board and hopefully get a discount....Or alternatively i await new stock a CWC 6/7 and a new v2 Strike 4 or 5....but that wont be for 6-8 weeks maybe...by which time the units will have gone.
