I wanna know if it was a Severne extension and if so what is the rope threading order when I use it upside down.
That's the second post you have said EXTENSION.
It was a mast base!
Is their a diference? I am only knew to this sport, I came ovr from kitting
Ha ha, there's more chance of KOTP getting caught hooked into another kite then you ever having been any closer to a kite than accidentally walking past my car at the shops
It sounds like ... was a bit low on his blood sugar
The older and younger guy that work there are both great.
Sure it will all blow over in time. Don't give up!
Does anyone supporting the retailer here in their responses at the expense of the customer know a great deal about customer service?
The proprietor walks over and takes it out of my hand and puts it back on the chair.
You see, that's the rude bit right there. ^^^
Unfortunately rudeness is contagious and spreads like a disease.
I would have been a bit shocked too if some shopguy snatched the article from my hand ...
but then I would have laughed at the fool.
Now he's suddenly got aggressive ![]()

Actually, I do own a shop and we would never treat a customer so rudely. Especially in an embarrassing situation where we had accidentally left one of our personal belongings next to items for sale. If a customer picked it up WE would apologise profusely for our error and direct the customer to the sale items.
To walk up behind the customer reach around and take the item out of the customer's hand and gently place it back without a word is what a primary school teacher might do.
Sure, as shop owners we make judgements about people, there's the beggars, job seekers, time-wasters, shoplifters, the internet shoppers. We have found that you don't generally have to worry about old people doing any of those things (except maybe beggong). We have had young people in the store inspecting products and photographing barcodes so they can leave and buy online, others just pick up stuff and walk out. Hence my tongue in cheek remark about being old and having lots of money. Why wouldn't a shop owner want my money?
But this got me thinking, perhaps the shop owner thought I was making mental notes about the components of the extension/mast base so I could go and buy online. I was looking at it very closely because it's been 30 years since I bought one. I was also interested those rubber covers because my toes now have arthritis and banging against the mast base is extremely painful. I had just seen that they can be bought separately when the shop owner plucked it out of my hands.
I had been seriously thinking about the island trip but seeing an owner of rental equipment so precious about a piece of his equipment being handled in-store got me thinking the trip would be no fun at all if my only choice was to use his equipment on the water.
Sounds like you both could have used more downhaul and try letting the outhaul off a little also. I think if the world had more downhaul and less outhaul it could be a happier place!
I don't know man. You seem pretty uptight. Maybe a tropical holiday is exactly what you need.
Then you could find out the the bloke in question is a pretty nice guy and i'm sure that this is all a misunderstanding blown out of proportion because you decided to name and shame him on a public forum.
Maybe sitting down under a palm tree drinking a cold beer after a 4 hour sail on a tropical lagoon might bring you two closer together and you then realise the windsurfing community is a close knit and friendly bunch with the same thing in common.
Then instead of making enemies you have life long friends to hang out with and share the stoke.
Peace

I'm really not understand your reaction. Perhaps the shop owner was having a bad day, maybe his dog got run over who knows, but you are ruling out ever using his shop again and not going on a holiday because he snatched something out of his hand. He may have acted like a primary school teacher, but your reaction is something I would expect of a petulant toddler. Did you yell at him that you're not going to be his best friend any more and he can't come to your party? I'd suggest listening to some of the peeps in this thread that have been sailing in WA for years and that are regular customers at his shop. He is a very polite and amiable person as well as professional. So maybe it was a misunderstanding or a miscommunication or maybe you just rubbed him up the wrong way, like you have done to everyone in this thread. Irrespectively, I would put on your big boy pants and get over it. Blacklisting his shop because he snatched something out of your hand is beyond puerile.
I went to a swap-meet once.
After I had arranged all the items for sale on my display table,
I unfolded my camp chair and settled in, coffee in hand.
The first customer who came by said to me:
"How much is the table and chair, mate?"
Do you or your associates (living, deceased or liquidated) have an interest relevant to your attack?
Does any entity you draw a wage or pecuniary benefit from, have an interest relevant to your attack?
Oh no, my retail conspiracy has been exposed. I own the windsurfing shop across town. My attempt to destroy my competitor through faux customer remarks has failed miserably. My single complaint was followed by 47 supportive posts about my competition. I'm ruined. Look out for some cheap windsurfing gear when the recievers take over.
(I guess that's why Internet shopping is now where the money is. )
The more you post, the more you should stay away from that shop. Can people stop advising him to kiss and make up. Kitings where its at, give it a go, you'll love it, friendly shops and a great group of smart friendly cooperative helpful community of kiters.
Jesus loves you Agrid.
Someone told me that he loves everyone. Thought i'd let you know that you're still loved
At best you are a troll (Agrid) abusing the forum, intelligence of participants and the veil of anonymity.
Faulty Towers (Episode One, Second Season) Communication Problems, I'm sure you are in it.
Oh my -
Cardinal Pell, kiss and make up, Mr 'slave, and kiting all in the last few posts. I heard on JJJ that it was Mardis Gras season and I had no idea... this thread is reinforcing it.
Serious note: Agrid I see you own a business and your last big post got lots of thumbs up and that's great. Maybe you do understand retail service well, I don't. I get to tell my customers to F.O if they come the raw prawn. And no I don't make watersports accessories.
Maybe what really made you cop it in the first post was this:
(1) you didn't say he was rude or aggressive, just that he took the mast base and said it is his and not for sale (and he was serving others at the time). Then you said you'd go elsewhere.
(2) you made a nice post that was all about not naming the shop but you quite clearly named it talking about the holidays they organise. That's a bit smarty pants.
If you gave a full description of the salesman's mannerisms and exactly who said what, and very clearly gave NO clues as to which shop, and asked what we thought.... then I think this thread would have been more kind to you.
You will find a "toe jam" (the rubber cover) is very helpful in protecting your toes.
I can't stand poor customer service and Australia is bad for it. Go to another shop who appreciates your business. If it had been me i'd have said something to the bloke there and then, instead of coming on here. It's not trip advisor mate.

I think someone's a bit over tired or hungry.
I just need to eat an animal![]()
Right now in this thread,
the smart operator would take advantage of his faux pas.
The snatching thing was just a small blunder in manners.
An invitation by the owner to bury the hatchet by way of promising a discount on the next purchase,
would be the clever way to exit this mess.
Dispense with the egos and give the relationship a second chance.

And a really smart operator would not engage with trolls.
And where did the "snatching" comment come from anyway, you made that up didn't you slave?
And a really smart operator would not engage with trolls.
.... And a really, really smart operator would utilize social media for all it's worth.
Aloofness is not very friendly.

...and a really really really smart operator would spell "utilise" correctly, and not rely on some stupid American spell checker.
AND, before you say "Well that's a pretty insignificant point you've raised there Chris", just remember that this entire thread, with commentators from as far afield as Queensland but not yet Ireland, concerns a conflict arising from the alleged mishandling of a second-hand mast extension.
So don't bloody come at me with your "insignificant", and I know you haven't done yet but I'm just getting on the front foot.
does the actions of the salesman just add character to the business?? Its a different experience from say a high street shop. All the windsurf shops are run by 'special' people. Never been to one with high street shop sales mentality and all the better for it. Last time i visited the shop in discussion we discussed the merits of board brands based on colour schemes. Performance and suitability not mentioned. Its very true as whilst I love the way my RRD 82 surfs, it really pees me off that its black and white when same board in other sizes are oranges, reds and blues. Its that insight that makes windsurfing salesman special.
