Little Kev said he would put money into associated infrastructure for a port at Oakagee, if it was built. Not the actual Port(that no one has seen, what it looks like or how it will be built.) No feasability study yet?maybe next year?
The Wa gov. didnt put any money into Oakagee in the Stat budget (only smart move Col ever made) and didnt even fund the power line required for the project.
The proponents for the proposed Port want a railline but the two main ones want it to go in different directions.(one is Japaneese the other Chinese maybe thats why?). they have no power or water ?
If any government has the balls to do anything at all with a carbon tax or trade than these Iron ore projects are dinasours, add to that a 40%+drop in ore price and you have a wow of an investment.
My tip would be dump any shares in any company that mentions Oakajee, its un Australian and dont always believe what a politician says or what you read in the paper.
Smacking the spot continues

A little background info for you all.
This is back from 2001 but highlights the link to Oakagee and the WA Govt (LIbs)

After spending over $60m on its Mid West Iron & Steel project in Western Australia, Kingstream Steel this afternoon called in the administrators.

The project involves the construction of a fully integrated 2.6mtpa steel slab plant, 22km north of the City of Geraldton, utilising low cost natural gas and iron ore, and the latest steel making technology provided by world leaders in this field. A huge site has already been cleared at Geraldton.

Kingstream, chaired by one of the WA Court dynasty, Ken Court, says that it is negotiating with several strategic investors. However, the poor global economic outlook led to additional caution from potential investors and the administration will allow time for these negotiations to be concluded.

The total project comprises an iron ore mine, beneficiation plant, 140km of standard gauge rail line, a power station and a steel production plant. The Geraldton steel plant was to consist of a pellet plant, two DRI furnaces, two electric arc furnaces and two continuous casters.

Iron ore was initially be mined and beneficiated at Tallering Peak, 140km north-east of Geraldton by rail.

Plenty more where this came from... followed the entire project and its 'connections' pretty closely in a past life.
Just 'how' the land actually became available in the first place is worth a read if you know what I mean !

Trust me, they didn't just 'see' some land set aside for govt use... the land which was once crown somehow made its way into the control of a company owned/run by a former premiers brother who just so happened to be in power at the time.

No one else was able to purchase the land, or land near it... a convenient way of preventing opposing views by neighbours/rate payers.

WA Inc at its "finest" except of course it was the Libs and not Brian and his dodgy mates at the helm.
