IMHO there is a good argument to locate Wave Titles in the best locations, Marrawah, Margs, Esperence, and Geroa. To get a good result you need more than a couple of days of good conditions and to motivate people to travel serious DTL conditions are a major plus.

The downside is the exclusion of some locations though this has happened before. During much of the eighties and nineties Tasmania missed holding the nationals because of a lack of organizers and wave sailors who were keen to compete, there was never any shortage of wave sailors keen to drink (responsibly of course).

The sooner a decision is made on the location and date the better, otherwise the formula sailors, slalom sailors, speed sailors, cherry pick the best dates, hell ,even many state wave sailing events get precedence over the nationals.

Traditionally it is South Australias turn, if they dont want to run it it goes to the next in line which is Nsw if I remember right. Im not sure where tassie sits in the loop because last time it was technically the Victorians turn and the time before that it was run in tassie but organised by NSW. Im in favour of keeping the venue rotating thru the different states. What does everyone else recon??

hasn't the last few years been,
TAS (run by vic.) 2008
QLD, 2007
NSW, 2006
WA, 2005
so next inline isn't NSW, if it's not SA, then it would be TAS, or WA seeing as vic did theirs in tas last year.

I suppose the big question for SA is, are there any good conditions for wavesailing during summer in SA, in a place that it could be held.

I say hold it in tassie again, there are people keen to organise it there, funding, everyone is stoked on tassie at the moment, and most importantly feb in tas goes off with cross off half mast or more consistant conditions. not to many other states can offer that, only one i can think of.

yea your right, I was getting my nsw wa back to front, and due to the fact that the last 2 tassie nationals were run by other states it all get abit hard to keep track of. Im keen to go down again, might buy a 3.7 this time

Hell yeah if no one else is stepping up to do the work and run it then Tassie again sounds sick to me!!

its either speak up or shut up!!

Tassie has the conditions and people who will put in the hours so should be a great national!

cant wait

So the nationals look like being in Tas again, because someone is prepared to do something!

the sailors should really decide at each Wave nationals which state will host the next one so they get a good year of planning. That may avoid the uncertinty. State to state turns may not work if the infrastructure isn't there...

AUS007 Thats how it used to be but has fallen down in recent years. An AGM was held at the nationals to decide where the next years titles would be. I have been involved in a few nationals years ago but do not have time now with work and family. Have been too two nationals at Tassie and was not disappointed.

Intrested to know what the final out come is .............The TAS NATIONALS would be the go again if no other state is going to pick it up ..............Tas should lock those day in ????????

The few Geraldton WA crew are talking it up and are intrested.

Nationals venue has got to offer something special for people to travel to ........... and all the footage from there indicated to me it would be worth a trip to TASSIE sacrificing a bit of west coast wave slapping for a bit of Tassie wave bashing.

Intrested to here if those dates in Febuary are locked in

Just a quick question.

Are there any cheap places to stay in Tazzi close to all the spots for some poor students with no camping gear so camping is not really an option. Also what is the weather down there like in Feb? If we hire a van and sleep in there will we freeze to death at night?

Any idea's or suggestions (only sensible ones) will be much apreciated!!

Cheers
