Today in 15-24 knots tried my new 2012 NP RS slalom 6.2m on my Patrik 92

used first the 36 cm G10 Rockit but again I found it too big for this board. Peak speed was poor, upwind great.

Then put the 36 EX fin in and heaven! Felt like I had lost 4 cm area of fin. Peak speed much faster in the gusts but a little slower in the lulls.

Not sure I'm going to use the 36cm Rockit again in the 92,not too big just too stiff. Area of the Rockit is identical to the EX but much stiffer and a little straighter.

For the lighter days with the 92,want to try a 36cm Volt One. The Volt One is narrower than the Volt 2 and a bit more flexy.

The 38 EX could be another option. The EX fins are freaky smooth with amazing peak speed especially in the gusts. Awesome in big chop too.

Believe the Techtronic Falcons and the Vector EX fins are the two smoothest fins on the market.

I recently got a Vector EX 30 in Powerbox for my JP FSW 101 and it works a treat with a 5.7 wave sail in over powered open bay conditions. I also gave it a go in my JP FSW 84 with a 5m sail and too my surprise it worked amazingly well with great top end. I use these boards as bay blasters and this fin works very well with them. Might need to get some more !

Edit - and the EX trucks upwind

Got my new Vector Volts last week and look great. Very nicely finished off. Tried the 36cm yesterday and felt great. I will be using:,
Volt 2 32cm 5.6/6.2 on Isonic 87
Volt 2 36cm 7.0, 39cm 7.8 on 107
Volt 2 43cm 7.8/8.6 on Isonic 120

The 32cm sounds about right for the 6.2 but for the 5.6 my 31Volt is plenty big enough.

Then again the newer i87 may require a slightly larger size than my older 2012 version.

Are the new i87's any faster across the wind? In that size I would choose wood for extra comfort.

Sweet Steve

You will love those Volt 2 fins my 30 Volt 2 is a fantastic fin.

I still love my four year old Rocket 32 as well, it is a classic shape as well in the rough stuff both styles are fantastic.

Cheers Russ
