I saw bugs' and cock2's tracks on KA72 at Victoria Point but they launch and sail further south than Thompsons. Does anyone know where they launch from?
Great photos Pete, it must have been pretty blowy for you to be dragging out the 5.2. Plenty of kites too, it'd be like the Battle of Britain going on overhead ![]()
Kites are no worries as they stick close to the shore like they do at sandstone but I still get a pucker up when I see their shadow and think it's something else. I could have used a bigger sail but was on the 128 so it just planed thru the lulls and I got more gybes in too. Water is still dirty here.
Water at Sandstone has been clear for over a week now, but the passage is still pretty grubby out to the yellow mark on low tide. That's great if your new kite friends are as good as the Sandstone kiters ![]()
Most of them are great..boards outnumbered kites again, Mike, Tom on his windsup, Steve, Rob, George and I.
I was underdone on my 6.6 and most of the guys were 7, 7.8 and bigger. The wind wasn't up to much by the time we were able to get out around 4 PM. looks crap for the weekend too.

felt like a (friendly) invasion at 4pm - windsurfers were definitely taking over ![]()

A good turnup at Vicci point this morning, I counted eight sailors mostly on 5-6m sails enjoying the breeze.
Checked the forecast this morning, went to Viccy Point anyway
Surprisingly 5 out and all had a good sail
8.1 turbo and old trusty windsurfer epoxy, planing 95%, Gybing 90%
Glad to see you guys left just enough wind for us weekenders![]()
Second that Dunk. Wind steadily built over the morning. Peaked as the rain come in & died pretty quick. At that stage we'd been on the water a couple of hours. ![]()
Light wind sailing today and by the look of it tomorrow too. I took my 9.0 ncx to try to figure out how to rig it for lightwind and still get it to rotate. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Forecast is terrible except for tomorrow. Anyone up for a sail from the boat ramp opposite the coast guard at Victoria Point tomorrow afternoon? Pete's low tide spot.

Hey, that's my patch. High tide spot too. Shhh dont tell the kiters.
2 hrs this morning on the super sport, how unexpected. Work can wait
.
I managed an hour over at Thompsons this morning trying out my new board, an upside-down hypersonic 96L with a 7.3 koncept and a weedie. Had a ball. Caught the last of the tide before the wind dropped. I have to try the boat ramp one day Peter.

I actually don't rig at the ramp, I'm straight across the bay so I work up wind to get in the gap between the ramp and red rock. I've sailed all around this bit, over to Coochie and Mcleay. The wind always seems the best in the Gap. That's a crazy looking board, looks a bit like an old hydrofield.![]()
Starboard made them from 2003 to 06 in three different volumes but similar sizes. Bit of a cult following.
They polarised opinion, loved or hated. I'm loving it.
