Hi, ive started out again at xmas 2016 after 20yr no sailing. But will be bringing a learner. Any obstacles to avoid ? I know of the old rockbar/ oyster lease a few hundred metres offshore. Used to fish there years ago.
Adam has marked the ends of the rock outcrop's with white pvc posts. Stay outside of those, outherwise don't go past the toilet's. In the other direction, (east) there are some rock's down toward that end of the beach. There is an uprooted tree stump that's pretty close to them I think. Oyster's not good on the feet. Not sure how far out they go, so stay away from there.
Also round the other side of the little line of mangroves, there is a big line of oyster rock's in there too.
Hey Olschool, if you've got the time the best thing you can do for first time sailing there is to get down there at low tide and go for a walk and check it out. Then head off for fish and chips or an ice cream and come back once the tide on the Brisbane Bar hits about 1.4m or a bit more if you use big race fins. Like Dag's mentions the rock bars out the front of the carpark were marked by Adam with white pipes and there's random rocks up the Bribie end of the beach and all rocks here have Pacific oysters that will cut you to ribbons if you jump on them. Once you're a couple of hundred metres off the beach at high tide, there's nothing much in either direction for a long way.
Thanks Paddles n Dag. Wind not so great so we stayed home n sailed our local Golden Beach. First day for my girlfriend using normal 5.8m gear not the little kids rigs.
Talking to pads today
maybe low tide lightwind sail after lunch Friday - fingers crossed
Cheers Jeff
feeling desperate
I'm hoping that there might be enough for Sandstone by late morning tomorrow too, but there's only really enough water till about midday. Adam should be getting his re-birthed GO back tonight so he might even be keen for a Bongaree session if the wind doesn't come in whilst there's enough tide at Sandstone.
Thinking I might put in a big one on the One Design tomorrow from Bongaree.
Might follow it up on Friday with ya Jeff. I'm desperate, and cranky too.
Hi Sandstone Crew, no wind is driving us all crazy. So calm means fishing to me. Heres what i caught where you sail.

The rocks you all keep away from is where they lurk. Food for thought ![]()

I'm so ready for a new pastime ;-)
when are are you going fishing again ??
7 days off and nowhere to go!!
The trick is to not leave enough room for one of their "Harley's" to fit so your gear is protected. Did you see that guy on the news yesterday cruising down Coro Drive on one ![]()
When I retire to "The Island" I am going to get one with fat ar$e tyres, put on my Cardie, turn down my hearing aid and drive along the beach through all the Kiters lines. " Ay???, whats that Sonny???!!"
Glorious morning at Sandstone, only light winds so Wallys, WindSUP's and Rio's got dragged out of the shed. The vicious, man eating dugong (described by Adam as a Tiger Shark) was cruising the weed banks and no speedbump ninja turtle sightings. The Weekday Windsurfing Freakshow is alive and well with Jeff, Darren, and the two learners Ethan and Dave joining me for a very pleasant cruise over the banks.

Try that at GB with the kite foilers as well.![]()
Good to finally put some faces to names today. Many thanks to Darren for his countless hours spent wading around in the freezing cold water instructing us noobs, and ofcourse Jeff and Paddles (Whose name escapes me) for all the encouragement.
Once again I am rooted. Looking forward to seeing you all on the water again soon. :D
Both yourself and Dave are doing really well mate. You keep coming back for more so you must be enjoying it ![]()
Yep, it was SW when you were there on Friday Ethan. If there's wind I'll come and have a sail too. It'll probably be too much for Jeff to resist as well.

Haha. I should have this wind direction thing sorted by now.
Tomorrow is off now ![]()
Fingers crossed for Tuesday now.
Righto Sandstoners, looking like a bit of a SW blow tomorrow before the southerly really kicks in late arvo. There should be enough water around lunchtime if anyone's keen. Weekday Windsurfing is going to score a few good days by the look of it ![]()

Yes I rushed out today to catch the last of the light breezes
before to forecast changes while Im at work the next 3 days.
Me doing Longboard wobbly jibes with Darren and Dave on Wallys
Enjoy the winds ![]()
Hope ther is some left for the weekend
cheers Jeff
Dave's going great gun's. Three day's of perfect weather, and each day a little stronger wind.
He tried the inflatable wind sup today, and it was no where near as good as the Walley, so we need another one.
Yeah, he's going well. He looked way more stable on the inflatable but it just didn't look like it wanted to go where he wanted it to. I'll see you gentlemen again tomorrow. Onward and upward ![]()
He said the Walley felt way more stable than the sup. The Walley is with it's centerboard down. The sup only has a tiny centerboard, and no directional stability which the Walley offers due to it's waterline length hence the better glide.
I'm working on a couple of big wide learner boards for larger people, or those that struggle with balance.
Happy Thursday again battlers. I thought I'd slip in a sunset shot for you all. John sailed nearly all day and myself, Adam, Mark and Dags hit it from just after lunch.

Not at all, I messaged Brad to see if he had maybe hooked his windsurfing trailer up to his car to make the wind drop and spoil everyone's day, but he claims he did nothing of the sort. I didn't let him know that we were almost taken down by that lady on her "Bribie Harley" though Dag, she went out of her way to give us a fright, lucky those little DC motors make a bit of a whining noise ![]()
