Cripes Needsalt I don't know how people get 100kms..I never seem to get over 40..
Must be fit!
Hehe. I'm not sure either but I reckon it'll be a lot freakin easier if I can improve my gybes and not have to waterstart at the end of every run ![]()
That makes a hell of a difference! I'm making most of mine now although not all pretty
and boy i notice the drain when I fall in and have to waterstart..Only problem with not falling in very often is my waterstarts aren't as nifty..![]()
I'm starting to wonder if I will ever beat my Pb of 31.69kts..Only managed to get 31.3 so far this year..
Might start trying for nm's and alphas..![]()
Just to update both targets achieved.
Broke through the 32kn mark a couple of times in not so ideal conditions and then the other day on a 127 and 8.5 sail in about 15 to 18kn
I made the 20kn hr. have been practising my gybes in the light conditions we have been having and things came together for a couple of hours the other day.
Didn't drop a gybe all session and just cruised around. It was fun but was pretty tired after 2 hours of pumping.
Have to adjust my goals again.
35 kn 2sec
32kn 10sec
22kn hour
23kn alpha
30kn nm.
Bring it on..just in time for summer![]()
I seem to be improving by 3 knots per year: 24, 27, 30 and now 32.5, so I guess I should aim for 35!
35 seems to be the new 30 in that it takes a bit of a technique breakthrough to get there.
My immediate aim is for a lovely smooth fully planing gybe.
I have managed 34 knots, still to get to 35.
I have managed a planing gybe, the "lovely smooth" is still a long way off!
I had hoped to replace all of my top 5 scores this year. So far I have replaced 20 out of 30, so I am still improving, that is the main thing. The trouble is, to replace the top one and get it off the screen you have to beat it 5 times!
In addition to the 40 knot NM at Lake George this summer (blow wind blow), I'm focussing on a 28-29kt hour and 27kt alpha. On the 40knot NM, all I need is a smoother central section in the lake or bigger balls, or both
. The other targets are a harder ask.
New equipment is being selectively readied for those targets. The key will be training and conditions on the day. Can't wait! ![]()

Yay!
What do you mean replace it and need 5 times? Whenever I beat a time it goes straight to the top of my results chart..![]()

For example - my best distance is 79 km. Unless I beat that 5 times it stays on my list of top 5 scores. To replace all my top 5 scores with 2014 scores I need to beat my 2013 PB's 5 times. That gets harder the longer you are in the competition.

I don't get it.. surely when you beat it you've done better so it updates to the new one?![]()
Ok so if you want it removed..but any better scores get added immediately?
This is your Top 5 Sue, If you get a 31.70 it will push your 30.41 off the list. So if you beat your 31.69, 5 times, it will be pushed off the list.
All over 30 in your top 5, nice work!

Aah.. Ok thanks..Be better if they were all over 32kts..![]()
..
I want to get that elusive 20kt + alpha!
I've just got real speed.I haven't had a chance to look at it but I want to go back to my best days and see what sort of speeds I was doing through the gybes that were too wide to register.. Can you do that with real speed?
40kts on my 112 Mistral is the go. Would like to see a 40 5x10 on the speed board. Not worried about alphas as thats not speed sailing...![]()

In RealSpeed, you can go to the properties of your Alpha division and change the proximity circle diameter.
Here is how: Right click on the Alpha Division and select 'edit'
This window should appear:
Click on the proximity (default is 50) and change it to 60m or whatever you think will capture your wider gybe.
Click OK, open your file and play!
Just remember to change it back again after playing with it! ![]()

Some good PB's allround..
Well done Sue. That is a massive result on wave gear.
I couldn't help noticing how close we where when I last looked on GPS Team challenge. You have just taken it up a notch. I'm worried that I have missed the window for really good speed days till the end of the year. Committed to the family on Sunday, thinking the forecast was pretty average. Anyway the year is not over yet and just got myself a Patrick 92 Slalom which is only 59cm wide with a great rep for speed and She gybes fantastic and I found that it really handles the chop well and jet ski waves well.![]()
