The only fair thing to do other than giving it to me, I think is to pull a name out a hat. That way every participant has a chance.

who is eligible?

What about late-comers, or there other prizes.
Lot more people will participate with warmer weather...& some wind!

Names in hat sounds good

There is a 6.0m Gaastra Vapour and a Fibrespar Mast as well!!!!

Late comers are excluded from the Board Prize at least.

That was stated from the start, so OK.

The interest & participation so far has been phenominal - but I think there is a lot more to come.
As more get back into it, get GPS's etc - it will grow even bigger.
lots of w'surfers I haven't seen for months will be in it.
dangle some prize carrots & keep the momentum going

I can tell that this is going to turn into a bunfight.

Give it to me now, to save arguments in the future

Just the sort of mature response I expected... I saw that Grumps responded, rolled my eyes, and surprise surprise he wants the board for himself Do you know what it's like having such a toy in the house and not being able to use it, It's like going to one of those "See Eye Aye" jails that don't even exist

How could you expect a mature response. As we all know windsurfing keeps you young!!!!!!!!!

As usual one of my serious topics turns into a comic thread....... You muck around just one tiny little bit on a like forum this one and no-one ever takes you serious again

How about giving it to the most improved sailor?

Best posted speed at cut-off date / first posted speed = % improvement.

Highest % improvement wins!

We will do a give away on exactly what you suggest in the furture, however, the board was promised to be drawn at random for just enetering before the 31st of May 2007, so we need to stick to that but the timing and method is what we are after. Obviously drawing out of a hat is the simplest method.

Ok I'll try again, I'll be more explicit!!!!!!!!!!!

Thommen1 and Gybesports are giving away a $3000.00 speedboard.

That's pretty generous in my eyes!!!!

How can we hype the giveaway.... to give Thommen1 and Gybesports some desevered brand recognition and exposure for this generous offer??

Ok Hardie might be a bit hard to arrange.
But what if we get Bjorn Dunkerbeck to hand over the prize or pick a name out of a hat.
Im sure he has nothing else to do.

Hardie,

Why don't you contact Boards magazine, (or some other windsurfing mag) see if they would be interested in doing an article on the team challenge and the prize giving.

That way Thommen and Gybesports get heaps of exposure and I get my face in Boards (assuming the prize is awarded to the handsomest competitor)

I think you should give it to the person that comes up with the best idea on how to select a winner

Given my prominent position in the local newspaper(I wish) I am sure that I can arrange to have a staff photographer there to take the pictures as you hand it over to ME

With a bit of arm twisting I can have the story run in all local papers across the Perth metro area.
Of course this can only be arranged if my name comes out of the hat

My sentiments are the same, however, I did state that people would be eligible for the Thommen1 Speedboard (odds 1 out of 125), for just registering, therefore I believe I have to honour that,...... but maybe the Gaastra Vapour 6.0 and or the Fiberspar Mast need to be only for those that have posted a session (Odds 1 out of ?, obviously less than rego's)

IMO:

Give the mast away at the end of October, the sail at the end of November, and the board at the end of the 2007 contest (December).

I reckon Thommen must be pretty happy with the exposure they've gotten, there were over 26000 pageviews for July, and every single one of them has "Thommen 1" front and centre

Good on them for believing in this competition, I hope all you speed freaks at least consider buying a Thommen now

That sounds good to me, I just worry whether Hardie will be able to control himself between now and December

Do you think one tiny little speedsail on the mandurah speed strip would be noticed?

Well I suppose we do have to confirm whether it is watertight or not

Why wait till December seasons half over by then.
September would be good the official start to the season.

My Vote goes to the Hat style draw with Hardie being the drawer (or Drawie)Draw it at Comp end with Magazine exposure and Trophy awarding,BUT..... as "The Pit" has the only decient speed strip better just give it to us

I vote with Vando - draw the board Sunday 30 September or for some symbolism Thursday 1 November - the first day of summer - that way the winner will get to use it!!

Stick to the original idea, everyone understands how it works. As for the sponsors they have already received heaps of exposure, maybe we could put them up on this site, as it is the worlds best windsurfing site

Draw out of a hat and get a WA champion windsurfer to do it.

Good luck everyone.

Cheers

Give us each a number, that way we can double check whether you've included us and all the hat entries dont just say hardie . Give Gybesports the number range and let em pick 1. Might I just add that if you win board then you should be considered ineligible for sail and mast to spread the joy a bit (ditto for sail/mast wins).
