Rails are painted and a tack coat on the bottom
top of the back coloured and acknowledged..

There's a few paint defects here and there that I hope to remedy when I finish the bottom. It ain't perfect that's for sure. The white looks quite grey in the pics.

The bottom has colour on it. So now I just have to re glue the pads and screw on the straps. I'll wait a few days for the paint to harden and rub it back with 500. It needs some non slip replaced here and there
too. Getting close.
I re-stuck pads a few times with contact cement. The tiniest gap on the sides had the pad lifting off as water rushed by. So I used contact cement in the usual way, but taped it real tight with stretchy duct tape. Duct tape fixes everything... dislocating patellas. Maybe even aortic dissection.
Mike the instructions said "to ensure a permanent seal clamp overnight"
Anyhoo it's all done, finished and completed.
Weighs in at 7.9kg. Heavy compared to my CA sl63 96l at 6.4kg.
To be expected, it wasn't a light board to begin with and we added a fair bit. We also increased the volume too.
I'm pleased with the finished product, very pleased and any flaws will be difficult to spot at 40 knots. ??

These are the fins I'll be using .
They range from the reboxed Tribal 27 weed speed, the 24 Tribal delta, the 21 Pepe weed speed and 20 (worn down to 18 )Atomic nuclear weed.
Notice all have the centre of effort way back.
All we need now Mike is a nice day to try it out!
Fantastic Pete, looks magnificent!!!!
Trouble is, now everybody will want one!
I guess I'm guilty of ignoring instructions, but I mainly don't have problem with just sticking them down well, and rolling out with a screwdriver handle.
Top job Pete. What are the final dimensions - length, width, volume? Hopefully I will see it in action in December.
with a bit of maths, could probably get an estimate, 1.5cm thick at the narrowest point.
Widest point about 50?
Length about 100.
It's a bit of a concave curve not a straight line so average thickness 0.5?
Average width, this time a convex curve so lets say 300?
approx volume = 1500cc = 1.5l
Hey Pete, are you going to bring it tomorrow?
Not ideal perhaps, but you could get an idea of how it goes.
I'm not sailing tomorrow. See how the weekend looks.I'd prefer more suitable conditions to get a more realistic experience. We may have to wait..I'm wondering if it's also nice to gybe. Here's hoping.
I've had a go at turning Pete's pics up the right way.
Here's the foam getting glued on
As it's going over rocker and "V" I've used an old foam mattress to conform to the board's contours, that gives an even pressure over the foam.
And here's the foam nicely stuck.

I've since shaped this, removed the "V" brought the leading edge down to the existing bottom, straightened the rocker and added 3mm tail rocker and slight V behind the back strap.
Not sure about the next step. Anybody used melamine? I have enough to cover this, but somehow it doesn't feel right.
The board still has its original integrity, so I only need to make the surface hard enough to resist dents.
Looking good. Use ply not melamine, much nicer and possibly lighter.
Not sure about your anvil.. mine would squash everything if I could lift it ![]()

Who nowadays has an anvil lying around ? Unless.. you also have a furnace.
Yes a furnace would be handy, but an anvil still comes in useful without one.
To try to catch the road runner ![]()
People with a bird infestation still favor them from what I understand. Results may vary.
FINALLY got the board on the water. Decrepit was first to try it albeit in marginal conditions. He declared it promising.
I tried it a few days later in lumpy conditions on a moderate breeze and could detect no particular faults.
It gybed nicely and at speed planed in the area over the back straps.
Ant had a go on the same day and got a 34.6 and said it was easy to ride and had good potential.
I put the straightedge on the bottom when I got it home and it was still nice and straight.
The two concerns I had, weight and finbox location proved to be unfounded and if anything weight was an advantage in the chop.
I used a reboxed 27 Tribal weed speed and 7.0 sail.
I'm getting a little bit excited now...
seems like that forward fin box could be a real advantage with heavily raked fins.
See what happens Sunday.
