It may not fit my schedule, but I am toying with the idea of participation in the Raceboard Nationls, just for fun.
To save me trawling throught the rulebooks, can someone tell me: if I enter the 7.8m class, can I use another smaller sail if the wind is stronger than I am comfortable with in any given race? I know! This is probably unlikely up in sunny Qld anyhow! ![]()
I might have to talk to Olscool nicely about borrowing one of his fleet of Speed race boards to. ![]()
Yes 7.8mtr is the maximum size and you can register 2 sails
What are the rules, re: What's on the list of what you can race? I remember reading somewhere about having original graphic's?
I'm trying to remember if this referred to a retro class somewhere or what?
If someone could save me hour's on Google, it would be much appreciated.
Also, if sailquick is thinking of coming up, (as above), I'm thinking olskool would feel obligated? as would I ?
I see there's a few other passionate's out there also. That bring's me to the next question -
Can we get them added to the list?
I want to own a Phantom one day, AND! like One Design racing, but these fit into that "Something Special from Our Past" category.
It seem's like there could be an opportunity for event organiser's to add another "Spin" / "Attraction" / "Encourage a different audience",
as cammd said above.
The thing I remember saying the most (back in the day) to "Non-Windsurfing People was..........
" I really loved the social side of it". (Being part of a common interest that built a community).
That's my last drink!
Night, night!![]()
Dag, id be keen to add a bit more 'push' to getting the SPEED series boards recognised n eligible to be registered in events.
RichardG posted about 'how to get it sorted out'. Way back in this thread. Lets get on it.![]()
Sailquik, i have 2 x F1s sailable atm. Only one has a towing eye. Not sure if thats a requirement? SR250L in limbo.Needs mega work. But worth it as that model is rumoured to be the 'business'. You can take your pick. I can only ride one at a time. ![]()

Ooooooohh..... That is very tempting!
Thanks mate.
I will have to see how my other priorities fall now. ![]()
There is a Speed 9"2 slalom on gumtree now, $50, don't know how to link the ad. I went to search, windsurfing, all categories, Perth area. It's in Scarborough, being sold with an old Bombora, by Brent. Don't know if anyone is interested, or find it! ![]()
Took the F1 out again. 10-16kts. The day started with 50cm jp supersport fin n 9.5lion. This combo is awesome!!
Really gets planing early, is fast n has great manners at speed. But it is quite physical. Its my favourite setup now. Sweet!!! As the wind increased further i had to downsize. 8m cheetah n 40cm Mfc H1 fin. Much lighter sail to hang on to. Also a bit faster as well.
A big 'THANKS' to Peter Nitschke for replacing the Us finbox with a PB finbox. Its like ive found another gear.

Unless you plan to be Australian champion, I think there will be no objection to entering the Speed boards in events. We want everyone to participate and have fun. We have had them competing in recent QLD championships.
