Given the fact the sails are a composite of Dyneema and Aramid, will probably withstand UV and the rough Aus weather way better than a standard mylar sail.

Gaz you're half right. Aramid (Kevlar etc) is about the least UV resistant thing I can think of. I'd suggest that's why its black.

Dyneema is not aramid - it is polythylene (UHMWPE)

Both have the best tensile strength going, dyneema is just lighter.

We saw aramid fibre in sails 15yrs ago. AFAIK the only new thing here is the 3D printed (simplified, I know) method of manufacture.

Guess we will have to keep waiting to see what they are actually like and get some real world feedback from normal sailors.

A question for those who have seen this technology on yachts etc
Will it roll into a bag ok?
will it be susceptible to damage more than a normal sail if something is put on top of the rolled sail?
or is it better than a Mylar and batten sail in that regard?

Dynema/Ultra PE (aka UHMWPE) has indeed a very good UV resistance, not so much does Aramid, my bad on that.

I guess you saw a 4.2 in Margaret River with Federico? Please ask him to demo it next time that sails is there for this exact purpose.

Makes me wonder if the colour is not by choice but that's just what the manufacturer of the cloth sells. Does anyone know if this cloth was developed by North or a third party supplier.

It's not really a cloth as such, you don't buy it on a roll like conventional cloth, its threads that are laid directly onto the mould with a strand laying head and wetted out threads, this is then sealed once all the fibres are laid and baked to set the resins.

It's then peeled off the mould and finished with sewing machines etc.

It has the same batten ends as Pryde. I'm a little sceptical about their durability.

I'm curious to see the whole range. I heard they are going to do a power wave sail too, and a race sail.

Remember the positive hype around the launch of the too thin and brittle Chinese built membrane sails 2015/2016.
Most likely, Norths new tech will be standard in 5 years, my guess
