Due to the Delta Covid variant running amok, our Premier Gladys has cancelled ALL & ANY future seabreezes and southerlies until everyone can access their favourite spot!

Those within 5km of suitable water may make an application for a 1 hr session on mental well-being grounds.
Fines will apply, so be warned!

Dude, in Auckland and we have just under 2 weeks Level 4 lockdown to go (since 18th August). A lot of people say level 3 is 4 with take out coffees/food but it opens windsurfing, sup surfing, mtb in your local area for experienced.
The real bitch is that in Auckland it's been windy onshore with good swell and not raining over 33%.
I got my first jab a week ago and was lucky to catch up with a local ((winsurf/kitesurf/sup surf) dude by changing one person in the cue) so made process great experience that went fast.
We are technically 1st day of spring and just went through 5 days of **** rain (after major garden job) but suns gonna come out and wind blow on 14th September.
Cheers

I just wish they'd cancel the use of Jetski's as a means of exercise and finally admit that the only affect on mental health caused by Jetski's is the negative effect on people around them!

Sounds good..
I've been practising voodoo since it started. It worked on Westerlies, but it doesn't seem to be working on Seabreezes..??

Mental elf effects of covid can be overcome with fluvoxamine.
I wonder how you'd go fighting a fine for being out exercising for more than an hour if you claimed to be in the zone and lost your sense of time.

Thoughts are with all those in lockdown! Read in a UK paper the other day that Oz had 1k new cases, with NSW in lockdown, and in the following article, the Uk has 30k plus! no lockdown here, as the govt has now washed it's hands of all responsibility! At least we can sail!

No wind here in Vic so it must work. But the swell is a solid 6 ft at 14 sec so doesn't work on waves. .

Here in Florida the idiot governor is actually trying to stop schools from mandating masks by withholding salaries of school board members! That is after a judge ruled against the governor. So your kids go to school, get infected, come home and infect you! And our hospitals are at capacity, ambulances are waiting outside for hours with sick people in them, and some hospitals are turning away patients. But the idiot governor wants to make it worse, so now we have the highest daily infection rates since the beginning of the pandemic, all in the name of his idiot base.

But I can windfoil all I want, yeah!

Horrible mayor who thinks that babysitting you and your kids should be your choice and freedom. You and kids can wear masks 24x7 if you and they choose. No one will say a word. But you can always move to Oz and get arrested for not wearing one. As far as mandating masks, go to youtube and watch recordings of recent Olympics say gymnastics and see how mask mandated athletes 'diligently' wore them (on/off) pre and post their routines or even closing ceremony. Hilarious.
I actually like wearing mask when it's very cold and windy; I want to yawn in front of my boss; or I have a runny nose and don't have a handkerchief. Also microfibers from the mask itch my nose more and I tend to sneeze more often and when it happens the air in the nasal passageways moves at about 200 mph which makes the mask bounce for a split second making big part of the exhaust escape.

Not hearing much about what's going on overseas with Covid. All the focus on the news has been Covid in Oz and Afghanistan. So interesting to read what's going on in the US & UK.

In the US it will be called the mass extinction of the idiots! Every few weeks or month there is another out spoken anti masker anti vaccine politician or conservative radio talk show host who dies from covid leaving a wife and kids behind with no life insurance, you could not make this up. And then the people who will not get the free vaccine, get so sick they have to go to the hospital and take up a scarce bed, and then if they survive a reporter interviews them and they say they still will not get the vaccine!

An anti-mask school board member here (also Florida) used the statistics from a local hospital to say that the pandemic was getting better. The hospital president put out a press release to correct him and say that the reason the hospitalization numbers were coming down was because they sent all the patients to the morgue, not back home. After that press release, the remaining school board members voted for a mask mandate (the anti masker still voted against the mandate).

They want something to fight about, anything. Texas just made open carry legal for anyone 21 and older without any test or training because guns are so simple to use even an idiot can accidentally shoot themselves, or their toddler child shoots them! (that has been reported many times), bet the mass shootings go up in Texas and when they do the politicians will argue not enough people are carrying guns and vote to allow all teenagers to carry them too!

I wish you were right, but fear you are not. Just being an idiot still gives a 99% chance of survival when you get COVID-19 (which is indeed a question of "when", not "if", in the US). At the same time, the chances are nearly as high that you infect a few others - who may be at a much higher risk of death because of a weakened immune system due to cancer, organ transplants, or just old age, even if they are vaccinated. Or they may infect children under 12 who can't get the vaccine. Sure, kids chances of surviving COVID-19 are even better, but almost 500 children have died already from COVID-19 in the US.

If the anti-mask, anti-vaccine covidiots would only endanger themselves, I'd be fully supportive of their attitudes - let Darwinism so it's thing. But they endanger others directly, and indirectly when they're in the ICU after infection (suddenly trusting science!) and keeping non-COVID patients from getting access to necessary medical care, as is currently the case in many southern US states. And they provide the virus a "mutation breeding ground" - the more people are infected, the more mutated variants will arise. In the last 18 months, we've seen the original virus strain being "overrun" with three variants, each of them more infectious than the previous, and all more deadly than the original. The current "champion", Delta, has significantly higher viral loads than older variants - which also means significantly more mutations. So far, we have been "lucky" in that none of the more infectious variants has been a lot more deadly; but such more deadly variants have been described already, and there it is may well just a question of time before the "more infectious" and the "more deadly" mutations emerge in the same strain.

And when they merge the idiots will start dying at much higher rates. But the fact that so many of these conservative talk show hosts are dying suggests it is working, since they are the ones brainwashing those who are not able to sort out fact from fiction.

Bush was from Harvard too, and I think most people would agree his intelligence was rather lacking. DeSantis is digging a grave for Floridians with his anti mask laws, and in the end he may just end up in that same grave from a political career point at least.

I can only hope his naked ambition is so obvious that it kills his political career, but with the core trump base he's so popular he's virtually guaranteed to win any primary, except maybe against trump himself.

It's almost funny to hear that requiring face masks is a "freedom" issue in a country where going topless on the beach is illegal almost everywhere. Worse, while enforcement of many laws in the US is at best haphazard, the "boob mask" laws are usually strictly enforced, and adhered to 100%. Apparently, the threat posed by female nipples is much worse than slowly suffocating to death from a virus. After growing up in a country where women are free to go topless, drivers are free to go as fast as their cars can at many places, and being without health insurance is not seen as "freedom", that is impossible to understand.

To those optimistic about COVID-19 reducing the number of idiots to a measurable extend because a few talk show hosts and priests have died, let me point out a few things. First, there are more than 2000 conservative radio stations in the US, and the number of conservative talk show hosts is probably even higher. Some priests that preached against vaccinations and then died, but there are more than 37,000 priests in the US, so a few less won't make a difference. The example of the Trump fans booing him about vaccines shows that people tend to stick to their first opinion, even if those who formed it originally talk against it. If the media report that a talk show host died of COVID-19 - well, the really enlightened know that the media lie, and that doctors misdiagnose everything as COVID-19 to make more money, right? Never mind that the official COVID-19 death count in the US is 643 thousand, while the number of excess deaths is more than 800 thousand!

Unfortunately, COVID-19 is more likely to increase the number of idiots, not decrease them, at least if you believe the scientists. "Mental fog" is a symptom reported by many COVID-19 patients for long times after the infection. It's worse for those who had severe disease, and the maybe 15-40% who end up with "long COVID". But even mild COVID-19 symptoms lead to measurable "cognitive deficits that persist into the recovery phase", in particular "in aspects of higher cognitive or 'executive' function" (quotes from doi.org/10.1016/j.eclinm.2021.101044). After a COVID-19 infection, the tidbits that "friends" post on social media that confirm their believes are even more appealing, while a re-thinking that requires more complex thoughts are even further out of their reach. Unfortunately, this "cognitive impairment" trend affects many of those infected. 99% of the idiots will survive, many a bit dumber than before; and their ranks will be swelled by others with long COVID. To them, presidential candidates who speak in 3-word sentences, use lots of big words ("greatest"), and create and inflame emotions will be very attractive. Add strong voter suppression measures in every Republican-controlled legislature, and a little evil mini-me version of Trump from Florida may well get elected in 2024, even if he killed tens of thousands.

"The [emergency rooms] are so backed up [due to overdoses of the anti-parasitic drug ivermectin] that gunshot victims were having hard times getting to facilities where they can get definitive care and be treated". From www.theguardian.com/world/2021/sep/04/oklahoma-doctor-ivermectin-covid-coronavirus

People can't get prescriptions for Ivermectin from their doctors because the doctor knows the difference between a worm and a virus, so they go to farm stores and buy the version for horses and cows. Government health officials try to tell them "your are not a horse or cow", but who believes the government?

You can't make this ** up. Nobody would believe you! Maybe they stop once they see this message:

Does anyone reckon Gladys is getting her advice from that dodgy MP gob****e fraudulant boyfriend, as her messages are very mixed up.

The views of people hugging others literally over the border barrier were both heart felt and pathetic at the same time. So we can't go into Queensland but we can go to the border and hug someone, obviously Covid is just going to drop off them straight away.

Oh yeah, an entire football team can fly into the state, with their families too, seems the onlky way to get over the border is to carry a rugby ball these days.

Business's are going bust, kids can't get life saving surgery and people cannot be with loved ones that are dying, yet ScoMo can fly into Sydney and see the family, that's serious double standards.

I have seen multiple trusted news sources stating it is true, they can not get ivermectin from their doctor so they get it from suppliers for horses and it is too high of a dose. Same thing happened when dumb ass trump talked about getting bleach and lysol into your body, the parent company of lysol actually put out a warning to news agencies stating lysol should not be ingested or injected.
