You know you're old when you remember "The latest, greatest invention in windsurfing" when it came around the first time...

Quite a German language thing, but if a younger guy is asking you "darf ich Sie mal was fragen" instead of "darf ich dich mal was fragen", you really feel old
In English both translates to "may i ask you something", but in German that's a difference, at least at the beach.

when your first record player was a wind up gramophone that played 78s with a steel needle, (that had to be replaced when the sound went scratchy)

It takes 5 minutes to drive to your windsurf spot and takes the same amount of time to get out of the car and walk properly before rigging.

When you open one of your tool boxes from the Nineties and the spare Chinook tendon joint in a zip lock bag has turned to orange powder........just last week too!

When you missed your opportunity to go "pro" in 1982 at the Ripcurl Wave Classic. Hey....not being able to loop was legit back then ...and they still counted "transitions". (No I didn't enter but the gap between how the pros sail and the rest of us sail seems a lot lot bigger now.

When you have had to sit out of windsurfing for a year, waiting for the bone to grow securely around your hip replacement.

When you first harness was a "chest" harness with the hook over the sternum, you wore it like a jacket.

You can remember when the Palm Harness first came out during the early 90's and was advertised is the US "Windsurf" magazine.

The promise was that it would revolutionise the sport.......... but it didn't.

Back then probably half the males of that age looked like that. Seemed normal at that time.

Yeah I heard back then everyone wanted to look like the lead singer from Queen lol.
But in another 50 years people will post pictures of themselves from back in 2021, covered in tattoos, and the youth of 2071 will say wtf.
