A picture of the three windsurf foil boards Naish are offering this season.
The left model is the Hover Windsurf- windsurf specific foil board-
Middle is the Titan 120 litres- can be used as foil windsurf or normal windsurfing
The right model is the Hover Convertible 120 that can be- SUP,SUP foil, Windsurf and windsurf foil.
There has been a lot of interest locally in all 3. I have done quite a bit of research on all these Naish boards, so if you want information happy to help.

You will see a couple of these on the Derwent and places this summer as well.
Fanatic Gecko 133 and 120 come with foil options.

Next fade, more gear to buy, when will it end.......![]()
It's a funny one, think I would prefer the feeling of the board on the water & waves/chop, but can't really say until I try it. Try before you buy I think.
I've researched these an they look good kaz. I'm getting one. You can give it a run sometime to see what you think. The I can gloat when you desperately want one an damo can't get them in for 6 months ??
Russ, you will have plenty of foiling company. There are 12 so far that will be above the water down south here.![]()
Kazza, the 122 (which I think is the board on the left of the picture). Looking forwards to seeing you out there Russ. What's the first rule of Foil Club?
Don't run over anyone with the foil (or should I say slice them up?). Might need to wear body armour? Imagine the first time we get 12 newbies all trying to sail/control their foils in a small area? **** - it'll be like a mixmaster!

Keep an eye on the yellow sail to the right.
Nothing unusual, crashes like that everyday without foils!
Speed, Slalom, Duck jibe, power jibe, Flaka, Taka, forward, backward, grubby , Kono, shifty, pushie....
that all take a crash![]()

That was the funny thing about the video... it all looks so gentle! ( i wish some of my crashes were that soft a landing)
I'm interested to see how the foiling stacks up versus buying bigger sails, board etc for light wind "action". Sitting around twiddling thumbs for months on end is not much fun! Bring on spring Huey I say!,

I think we need windfoiling tee shirts
WINDFOILING TASMANIA
Are you up for it?
I would like one hoddie and two tee shirts![]()

OK so what is the perceived plus side, if any, of a foiling sup or sailboard in the surf?
Most vision I have seen is in fairly docile waves, I would have thought that you would get better performance using your rails as per "standard" sups & waveboards.
As far as the windsurfing side of it, 99% of everyone interested flat water use-not surf.
Foiling on a SUP allows you to ride flat waves or ocean swell maintaining speed that you would never be able to do on normal board.
Looks like fun but its the windsurfing side of it that is easily accessible to any intermediate sailor.
This one from Naish does it all, windsurf, sup, supfoil, windfoil and looks good on the roof racks!
This is the Naish Hover convertible.
Wow a board that does it all![]()
Russ, it's going to be a long wait for Foil Club tees, I'm totally snowed under and way behind in work. ![]()

With our conditions being so similar to those the in the vid with novice kids showing how easy it is, foiling will kill conventional windsurfing here![]()

Conventional windsurfing in 15 plus knots is always going to be the best.
For those who dont want 8m sails or kitesurfing then Foiling in 10knots looks like a great alternative
Good thing is all existing wave sails of around 4.7 to 5.5 are perfect

Agreed..... If you want to get planing on big windsurfing gear in around 10 knots you need to spend a fortune. A large sail, fin, mast, boom and board will cost thousands. A new foil and board way cheaper, still will cost a bit but no where near as much. I think unless you are into serious racing then the days are gone for big gear. Plus the fact foiling will be more enjoyable and easier on the body![]()

Bugger this Windsurfing sport ,I already have reached pro status ,and can do all the tricks, and manoeuvres, I'm now thinking, of taking up this new sport , wind fooling, looks like more skill is needed, and after old school sail boarding, it should be a sinch.
If you try this new sport ,and have your own gear, but are having trouble's fooling, I am quiet happy to give you a lesson on your gear, .
Cheers Av Windfooling School.![]()

Alan no one in the country have them yet, only a few sample boards on the mainland.
Thats the new 2018 stuff anyway.
They will be in very short supply when stocks arrive in Australia. So if its something you want to get for summer i would start seriously thinking about it now.

Hey Damo, we've got plenty of 2018 foils. They're good fun!
Yeah Neil Pryde and JP have some great gear this season as well, I know Simon is getting excited!
These Np dedicated windsurf foils looks sweet. The alloy version is very well as well.

I sent for a horue version last season but have been too busy to use it much.
Few times I had a go it went straight up on foil
Looking forward to spring
Why do they make them so high? All the foils on the market look like they need a 3rd the height taken off the spar. Perhaps we will see multi foil setups down the track, two smaller ones set up like a twin fin would be interesting, perhaps would be more stable rail to rail but trickier to gybe?. Anyway ill have 1 of each thanks Damo, can i trade slightly used custom 2001 model ![]()
