Yours has two less sides per "cell" than the ones I've seen .

That's on the deck.
I'm still out of the water for another 5 weeks but I had a couple of reasonable surfs before the op, goes really well.

And yeah, the deck's sprayed and no Rpela. Not that I don't have faith in them, more that in 35 years of surfing I've had two close calls with Whites, 20+ years apart and I reckon that's reasonable odds.

I find the situation in reunion bizarre. From what I understand it's mainly tigers that are the culprits? Can't understand why they are attaching so much more since 2011 it's almost like someone's flicked a switch. There's heaps of tigers in NW oz so why hardly any attacks there?

Not the tigers up to the survivor of attack or witness of them because the shark dont wear typical mackerel rays .
From the study, female bull sharks stays around rivers and lagoon where is non salt waters are waiting to make their babies. Many male sharks coming from deep water around Réunion island show up aggressively by the time been attract when females ones are ready to receive male shark. So this can be an certain period when those females are hot .
Can be too much fishing, getting unbalance between shark itself and shark natural prey, their is less and less fishes and the extra numbers of shark dont get fish in an even amount of catch.
Last attack was 2 weeks ago.

And none of that is meant to diminish understandable nerves. If it makes you feel better, go get one. I wear a Gath in sizeable or crowded surf for similar reasons. Then again, I have also had multiple head injuries.

I called Ken Crew Uncle Ken. Since his death I have never really liked surfing alone, so I do get the emotional side of it all, but the risks really are very small.

Shame my eight board quiver doesn't let them transfer between boards hey?

Good thing the risk is minute.

You obviously haven't read up on this at all have you

Yeah I have.

I just understand what I read and don't let social media generated mass hysteria overwhelm my logical faculties.

The risk is minute and the best shark shield things sort of work, a bit, on occassion, in tests that are hardly rigourous or capable of reproducing real life scenarios - partly because of funding, partly because no one in their right mind is going to put themselves in the situation to find out if they work or not, and then do it 1000 times to get statistically meaningful sample sizes. Oh wait a minute lots and lots of people do surf every weekend all over WA. No. I was right the first time - the risk is minute.

Drip you are a man after my own heart when you talk about the minute risk etc.........that was until I saw an attack live.

A life long mate of mine surfs regularly down your way on his own in amongst the attack zones and we have long discussed the risk. He used to ring me up and tell me to come on down there is no one in the water after most of the attacks

After the Gearies attack he rang me up and advised I should surf down his way more as it was way safer

I was never blaise about sharks particularly whites but happily surfed alone without fear and still prepared to do so if it's going off I have surfed for over 40 years not going to stop now.

The decision to use a Repla is a bit like wearing seat belts, rear end someone and stick your face through the windscreen you will really look stupid. Experience a great white attack and it will likely to be the most brutal traumatic event you are likely to experience, to have this happen to you without spending a few dollars isn't logical.

I know this can be confronting for many but as you surf the south west at least carry a tourniquet if you lose a leg its 2 to 4 mins before the odds start going against your survival. I carry this one you will be able to apply it to yourself if the worst happens. It sits nicely inside the fold of the front zip.
