Sketchy time of year, you can score it some days when its not supposed to be on and then get skunked when its supposed to be good!

Low tides in the morning, side shore winds and lumpy swell can all combine to make it pretty average lately.

Had five days away at a remote location that really turned it on. No boat needed this time but a 4WD was essential. Three or four surfs each day on my own and the weather couldn't have been any better.

Short rides of 50-60m and 120m on the sets that held up, which was about every 3rd or 4th set.

Bakesy your pics are both killing me & keeping me going at the same time. I haven't had a decent surf in a few months coz of a new grom getting born. Love your work mate, never surfed the place in yr pics but a mate does and he says it smokes on good days. Looks like yesterday was one of those days! Do you have and video of it from yesterday......would love to see it if you do.

no mate, didn't think to charge the battery on the phone new groms do hinder the recreational activities dont they yes, that day was pretty much perfect got shacked at least ten times with five or so letting me come out! one of the guys who basically found the spot as a grom came out and ripped, very enjoyable to see a guy who just surfs for fun (though once a team rider) surf like a pro awesome stuff but spewing I couldn't get pics of that.

Very nice work Zuke. I really wish I was there. I can't pick the location at all. Nothing gives it away for me.

Thanks guys. I only took the pics on the third day, I thought fellow 'breezers might like them! I swam out between surfs and took a couple of quick pics, the water was truly amazing. I've been there about half a dozen times in the past 3 years and it has been OK but I was sure it would work with the right conditions. Like anywhere new, it takes time to suss it out and I think I've done that now.

It's not BB. Like I said, I was the only one there.

If someone guess's it correctly, I'll PM them. ( But considering how remote it is I don't like your chances).

I've been too chicken to have a shot. Plus some obligations and conditions have conspired against me. I'm ready to give it a go now though. NSAIDs are in the cupboard as a backup.

Trigg had some swell this morning but the crowd was horrendous! It should get better when the tide comes in later but I don't think any more people will fit.

I certainly fit the SUP profile after stacking on the kilos during my time out.

apparently a bunch of sharks spotted at city beach and trigg/scabs. but doesnt look like that has stopped many people. the tide was that low this morning that the south cott reefs were showing a very different face. the rocks between cove and seconds near the shore were completely exposed, on the bigger sets, seconds sucked dry well before the wave broke. isos was breaking like the northern beaches on the bigger waves and generally breaking 5-10 metres further out, but still pretty sucky. a fair bit of sea life too - a sting ray with wing span bought 1/1.5m was pretty impressive.

I was at city today, and the thing was actually at Floreat. These young clubbies called everyone out but I wanted a small something in, can't just paddle in! They got a bit mad. Good conditions today though!

I just went for a bodysurf at a place that's good for bodysurfing in summer. I've decided against surfing this arvo. Despite the graphs it's just not big enough to make it worthwhile. Good for bodysurfing though. No sharks that I saw.

Good surf down south today a bit inconsistent but had a great surf with 2 other guys till 7 until some more crew turned up. 20 dolphins putting on a show topped the session of perfectly.

Hope everyone had a great Xmas! Spent my arvo wave hunting as the family decided to bail and each went their own way. So much for saving today for family!

It was a washing machine and not to mention the sand on the beach was blown like bullets by the wind. Just an observation, did the building of the Hillaries Boat harbour basically destroy the swell to the northern beaches? First time I've driven up that way and past the harbour, it was basically flat.

According to long time Perth surfers, the building of Hillaries did stop natural sand flow, meaning that all breaks south of the harbour are now merely a shadow of their former glory. But I don't know about swell - I think the northern beaches have always been the epicentre of Perth surf swell size wise (meaning not much has changed regarding wave height).

Correct! They aint what they used to be, particularly around the Watermans, North beach areas... even Trigg Point is a shadow of what it used to be.

Ahh true true, anybody got any photoes by any chance to fuel the curiousity of a newbie?

Thing is I'm talking about north of the Marina. Basically drove up to around Whitfords Beach and it was flat before heading back down to the northern beaches and atleast you'd see waves rolling through.

Really in need for a surf. Maybe it's time to head down south again
